FAQs??
-How many squares do I need for a baby blanket?
This can vary, it really can be however big or small you like, but i generally do 4x4 or 5x5.
This blog post might be useful: bit.ly/1UIobie
-How many chains shall I do for a *single/double/etc' blanket?
Again, this can vary. I would suggest that you do your chain and lay it down agains the bed you are wanting it for. It should be the same width. You should then ad a few more to make it a little wider.
This blog post might be useful: bit.ly/1UIobie
-How much yarn do I need?
Unfortunately, I will not be able to answer individuals questions about how much yarn you would used do to multiple factors affecting it. Such as, your tension, the size of hook and the yarn being used.

How many people grew up with afghans with this pattern in two shades of brown and one yellow? 70's baby
80s baby here and so did i🙂
I always figured that those yucky colors were cheaper and that's why my grandmother used them...
So, after numerous attempts and watching several tutors, I was finally able to get the chevron stitch right. Thanks to Bella Coco, my work came out right. You're the best! I'm so excited!!!
Hi I wantvto try this stitch but I don't know where the repeat starts on the base row after I chain the multiple of 25 plus 5 . I want to chain 200
@@kariwadge4883She states in the video exactly where the repeat starts. Chaining 200 will not work. It has to be a multiple of 25.
25 x 8 is 200!
I love your tutorials! you explain everything and make sure it's all visible. I've made so many blankets thanks to your videos!
Your tutorials on crochet are the only ones I work from! Thank you for teaching me how to crochet!!
I am crocheting my first chevron blanket after watching your video. Thank you for making it so easy to understand!!
I just finished this project for my nephew. I'm now working on squaring it off. This is such a nice pattern and so easy to do.
Thank you, your tutorial was so easy to follow I look at others and you explain it so well. Can't wait to start making my blanket. And see what other patterns you have.
I love your videos.perfect pacing and great explainations. You make it all very simple to follow. Keep up the great work love!
thank you Bella Coco for definitively helping me to get going on a long overdue project. You've answered all my questions in relation to chevron patterns. Also, never knew there was a divergence between stitches in UK and US.
Thank you so much for this video. You are my absolute favorite instructor, bar none! I can always follow what you say and I've definitely improved my technique for even stitches and nicely laid out work since I've subscribed to your channel. Thank you again SJ, you are the bomb!
I have to say Thank you so much !!! I've tried to learn this pattern for so long and just couldn't get it. My fiance wanted a scarf made if this pattern and I felt so bad I couldn't make it for him. I saw your video and it just came so clear to me. Your instructions were clear and easy to follow. Once I understood why I was doing things a certain way I got it. Making his scarf now... Thank you, thank you. Great video.
After 20 years of only doing basic granny squares, I know know how to zig zag. Thank you 🙂
I absolutely love your tutorials. I've only been doing this (crochet) since the start of the year but have successfully created a few blankets following your tutorials ♡
Kirsty Denning Im so pleased to her that x
I want to say THANK YOU! I have been fighting with everything I have to get this pattern and no matter how many videos I watched I just couldn’t get it... until this video, so clear and slow enough for my brain to process it ❤️
You're very welcome 😀
Thank you so much! I had done this years ago.... needed a brain reboot 🤓 You helped with clear and verbal and visual instructions. Now, if I can just remember to keep proper count, will have straight edges.... Thanks again - MJ
Bella I love how you show your tutorial crocheting I am a beginner at crocheting so I am just learning the stitch I can do single and double stitches.
I absolutely love your tutorials! you are the only You Tuber I can follow.. can't wait to see my zig zag baby blanket complete because its looking beautiful at the minute.. massive thanks to you XxXxX
Awesome design! I just starting crocheting for the first time yesterday, and this came very easy to me!
I really like the way you explain everything. keep up the great work!!!
I have tried different tutorials and after numerous failed attempts I came across your tutorial and I got it right first time. Thank you so much for sharing.
You are very welcome :)
Really have struggled with written patterns for this. Your video is brilliant, thank you!
I struggle with written patterns in general! If I don’t have a video I can’t do it lol
Thank you so much for your video. You explain so clear and in a perfect speed and show very clearly
It's really easy with your tutorial. I want to recreate the blanket my mother made for my daughter. she's about to have my first grand baby so I want the blanket to match. Thank you for the pattern!
You make crochet so easy I've made two of these in the last month!
Thank you. A great understandable tutorial. My 12 year old and I followed it easily.
If you are a beginner please watch these videos to help you on your crochet journey. I began a year ago and I feel so confident in my crochet now , I love my hobby and it’s something I get to share in the way of giving gifts to family and friends. This is my favourite pattern for blankets and I know when it’s not working to come back and watch the video as a reminder. Thank you Sarah-Jane for all you do in this community .
You are very welcome :)
Love your work, thank you
Thank you so much for this video. I attempted this pattern so many times following different instructors to no avail. I was about to give up and then I found your video and for the very first time, I was finally able to achieve it.
You are a fantastic teacher. You not only explain it in easy to follow instructions but you can actually see the stitches and chains easily.
I am so excited to finish my throw blanket!
You are very welcome and i'm glad it was helpful :)
Thank you very much for this tutorial. It may sound silly, but I have tried this stich many times over the past decade to no avail. Thank you for uploading this and breaking it down. You started with rounds of 25, but using the principals you taught I have been able to work in rounds of 11. Thank you for your help. It means a lot me. I am trying to recreate some of my Grandma's stiches with her hooks. Your help with the chevron stich makes me feel closer to her. Thank you & blessings.
You're very welcome 🙂
What a lifesaver you are! I have been trying to learn the chevron stitch for months. There are so many styles and I am new to crochet. This was so helpful and had me crocheting chevron's in no time. Thank you so much for this wonderful video!
You're very welcome 🙂
Really enjoyed the tutorial. So easy to follow. Thank you so much!
I'm a beginner and your tutorials are the best I've found yet!! Thank you for the easy and, most important, COMPLETE explanations...you're fantastic!!

Decided to crochet while stuck at home recovering from cancer plus the stupid pandemic lockdown. Wanted to do a chevron design. Did a search and your video was the first. Its fantastic and once I got hold of the turns - piece of cake. Thank you - from the USA
You are very welcome :)
Thank you, great instructions and awesome colors.
Am a huge fan of your crochet tutorials- thanks a ton and I must say you have been a huge inspiration to begin my crochet journey !!! 🙏
You're very welcome :)
You are amazing I have keen granny square stitch plus basket weave stitch still making this blanket wit it, now I need to learn the ripple stitch now
Your tutorials are superb! I have learned so much from them as I can follow a video much easier than a pattern. Thank you for putting the effort in to making these amazing tutorials :)
+Rachel Reichert thanks so much x

Honestly you have the best tutorial videos ever!
+Catherine Diaz Thank you so much Catherine x
This is the clearest tutorial I have come across! You’re awesome thank you.
You're very welcome :)
This video just did me a world of good. With no hair left un-pulled and no curse word left unsaid, I was about to give up on a project that one of my friends challenged me to take on. Not no more! Thanks so much for your very well-done tutorial!
You are very welcome I'm glad it helped you :)
Yet again, a great tutorial. I've learned so much from you over the past couple of years. Greetings from USA
Thank you so much, your support really means a lot to me 🙂
I have watched many video tutorials for this type of afghan and by far, you are number 1. Excellent job explaining
Thank you so much :)
Oh my goodness! I have been struggling with this pattern until I found your video. Thank you!!!
You're very welcome :)
There are a ton of videos out there for all the stitches there are. But yours are the best ones because of your soft voice and you explain every stitch so easily for us all to learn. I always look forward to your videos. 🦋🌻🌹
Thank you Karie Jo for your lovely comments they really do mean a lot to me and its what keeps me going :)
You have explained it so well Thankyou Bella 😊
Great tutorial! This is exactly what I was looking for!
Very easy to follow. Just what I was looking for . Much appreciation. Thank you!
You're very welcome :)
I love your tutorial. You explain so well and make it super easy to follow. I was able to complete my first chevron project. Thank you so much.
You're very welcome 🙂
Good easy explanation, very grateful. Many thanks.
You're very welcome :)
You do beautiful crochet work. Also very patient when explaining patterns. I will forever follow you. Keep up the good work.
Ahh thank you that's so nice of you to say 🙂
making this now! loving it!
+Christina Stone great :)
Love it! The colours are gorgeous too! x
***** :) x
thank you so much!! such a great video showing exactly how to do the chevron and very well explained. :D
I am from Brazil, and this is the first vídeo could realy undertand this work! thanks ( and sorry for the bad inglish) 🤗
Hello! I love your tutorials, as a beginner at crochet I appreciate how much you explain! I also have a request to ask of your masterful skills. It is called a Ripple stitch and is much like the chevron stitch but instead of a point its rounded. Again thank you for how well you explain and show the smallest details. Good Luck!
After several attempts at other videos, thank you too for helping me to get it right x
Glad I could help :)
Same as Deborah Akugue ! I should have come to you first!! you are very clear and user-friendly, thank you.
You are very welcome :)
I love the way you teach. Because I am just now learning and actually get it lol
Great video - really easy to follow. Thank you
I really love this stitch, your tutorials and your teaching style. Thanks very much and Merry Christmas!!
You are very welcome :)
hi bella ! i really like your tutorials. they are easy and fun to work with. i'd really love it if you could make a tutorial on a phone case :D
very nice, I like the colour combination you've used as well!
Sammi N Thanks so much x
Really great tutorial! Gonna try this out soon! And I hope your finger is alright ☺️
karin yew oh thanks! I had a fight with a bin bag of all things! I lost lol x
Tx for showing the start as thought the twisting mess was wrong. Cant wait to see my 6 rows🤩
You are very welcome and good luck :)
Easy to follow and clear directions! Thank you you Explain WHAT TO DO, with our all the details of why they work, just what I wanted. 👍
I also like how the work is divided up into 11 stitches up then 3 crochet in the same stitch then 11 stitches to the bottom. I check my stitches every 22 dc rather than waiting till I get 100 crocheted to find out if my count is off
You are very welcome :)
Thanks Bella Coco you making crochet easy and enjoyable again!
You are very welcome :)
I finally get how to do this thanks 🙈😄🙈
It's very pretty. can't wait to try this one later.
Victoria O'brien Thank you x
Well explained and demonstrated. Will try.
Love this!! Thank you ;)
+SparklyPinkStar82 :) xx
Thanks for sharing, with clear explanation
I'm new at this. how would count of chain change for an american double crochet. would you add on more than five chains to original chain? and which chain do you start in since the stitch is different?
Love your work and how you explain!
+Irma Pereira-Rivera Thank you xx
THANK YOU!!! Anyone else here after failing the chevron cushion exercise in the DK Little Course in Crochet?? Now I see why nothing about their pattern worked / made sense. They skipped the extra stiches on the ends - but more importantly, their pattern calls for 81 chain and Vs built in multiples of 18. This works out as 4.5 Vs, rather than a solid 4 or 5. This means the idea of turning the work and repeating the row makes no sense because everything is inverted - and one side of the work grows out to the side rather than being straight. I don't know how that passed editing! Wasted two hours of my life on that before hitting CZcams. And it's so easy, when your instructor talks sense and can understand maths!
You are very welcome :)
@@bellacococrochet how long a starting chain would you suggest for a 16-inch-wide cushion cover? I tried Vs of 20 stiches and came out a little over an inch too short. I think your pattern in 25s might be too long?
This is taking me forever!
Thank you for this easy to follow tutorial. I have completed my blanket but it curls length ways. I have stretched it out but it still curls along the peak and trough.
Oh dang! I'm makin double crochet in US, but no worries it's gonna be a rug thanks for the video
Thank you. This was very helpful. New subscriber!
I am in the same boat. I should've started with you. Your videos are always good. I have worked on this off and on all day. Frogged it multiple times and still coming up short on the end. I'm going to follow your tutorial tomorrow. I know I can do it.
Yes you can - good luck :)
Was curious do you have the pattern where I can print it out?
This was an AMAZING tutorial thank you!
You're very welcome :)
I am doing this pattern, but with a US double/UK treble stitch. It is turning out beautifully! Thank you for this pattern!
Joy Mundy how did it turn out? I'd love to see a picture!
Ashley Romano, it's going beautifully. I changed up the turning stitch. I chain two & turn, then make it 2dc together in the first stitch, the follow the pattern as stated otherwise.
Joy Mundy so excited to hear! I'm new to crocheting but am a fast learner, want to make this for my mom for her new bedroom. Can't wait to go to the craft store tomorrow and get colors!
I am making this blanket for my adult son. Forest Green, Navy and a beautiful variegated. 6 rows green, 3 navy, 2 variegated, 3 navy, then repeat. I hope he loves it as much as I do. Green is his favorite color.
Joy Mundy if your making it I hope he does! I'm doing coral and a deep turquoise with white and small grey accents, so I'm thinking 3 white, 6 turquoise, 3 white, 2 grey, 3white, 6 coral and repeat!
nice video. i finally understood this tutorial
Thank you so much, reading the pattern I got lost and confused this helped a lot.thank you.
You're welcome :)
@@bellacococrochet I am a beginner and know only a few simple stitches. You showing and explaining makes things so easy, thank you again. This is a pattern my mom made and asked if I knew how to make it. Now making a small toddler blanket in this pattern.
Brilliant tutorial thank you
love love this! quick question, when i first begin the 2nd and 3rd rows, the piece begins to curl a bit. could my stitches be too tight? i've made one of these before, but was so excited about finding the video/pattern that i didn't pay too close attention and then i gave it to a girlfriend! :-)
I love all your tutorials. I am making a baby blanket for my very first nephew, and I was wondering if you could make a tutorial for how to make alphabet granny squares.
Thank you so much!!! I've been struggling to make one and my edges were too wacky. 😂😂😥 👍👍👍👍👍
can we convert a straight project (eg. if i have couple of granny squares attached) so can i convert it to chevron?
I have a tutorial on how to add the straight edge to this on my channel x
Great tutorial! Yours are my go to tutorials for anything crochet. I would love to make the pattern with just a straight edge and not the extra dip (extra two stitches) on the side--how should I adjust the pattern to make that possible?
Beautiful colors
amazing tutorial thanks so much! question though. say I make a chain of 200 because I want 8 points and add 5 more. should that be fine? or would I have to change a few things for it to work?
Hi! Do you think there is a way to modify this pattern to change the single crochets in it for double crochets?
Well explained. Makes it easier to figure it out on your own design if you wanted to.
Glad it was helpful :)
I have the task of duplicating my grandmother's chevron blankets. My family wants the stiches exact. (No pressure 😮) Yours is very close but the peaks and valleys in hers are a few stitches shorter. Plus my grandmother looks as if she picked up the back loops only to also create a ridge throughout. I have my work cut out for me. She passed in 1980❤ Thanks for this tutorial.
You're very welcome and good luck with your project, let us have a picture once its finished :)
I love this pattern
After I figure out how large I want the afghan, how do you figure out how much yarn to purchase?
I think I would like to use a worsted weight yarn.
I've done a few projects now and have been happy with the finished results on all of them so I thought it time I tried a chevron pattern. How did you know!? ☺️
Ricky Skelland hehe ;) x
Love this tutorial, but could you do another doing the treble crochet (US double) also? Thanks
Is there a way to start this project with the foundation single crochet?
