- Back in 2021, Numark's Mixstream Pro brought standalone Engine OS hardware to an entirely new price category. It allowed users to perform with local or streaming music, with no computer required. The Pro even included built-in speakers. That model needed wall power to operate, but Numark has now released the Mixstream Pro Go, a new addition to the line which includes a battery, for a truly portable all-in-one DJ setup. Bought the Denon Prime Go early this year and never looked back, it’s the best piece of DJ gear I’ve bought since my Technics MK2s back in 1998.
I never thought I’d use the battery/portability at all, but it’s so handy to have and use it far more often than when plugged in.
I have never used a controller of this type , having just finally decided to stop playing vinyl, and stop being a dinosaur.!
Is this seriously worth a go?
I am looking at purchasing a controller, but it seems a different world?

I’ve been using Engine DJ since it started with the P4, SC5000 and I never turned back. It’s developing and there will be more to come. They are working hard.
Battery life sounds super impressive. It's nice to see the FXs much improved. Both of these features were things I wished for when I bought (and quickly sold) the original mixstream pro.

Around five years and loving every second of Engine OS.
I have a launch day Prime 4, Prime Go and 2 x SC5000Ms and never get bored on them. I use lighting and everything else EOS has to offer. It’s the future.
How in the world wasn't it announced at NAMM 2023? Great stuff. The best review so far
I started on Engine 1.0.3 and quickly returned the SC5000s because everything was a hot mess. When the 6000s came out I gave it a second chance (luckily). There have been so many great improvements! The only thing missing for me is Traktor Pro support. Aside from that, it's awesome!

Of only they made the jogs a tad smaller and gave us longer pitch faders still an amazing device loving my mixstream pro
Started engine at 2.0 a year ago. Adding hue and them fixing most software bugs has been great.
Future Engine DJ things I would like are keyboard shortcut hotkeys for beatgrid edits. The memory to remember where on the scroll bar I was when I navigated to a different playlist and returned back again, Custom tag fields, smart crate searches with those custom tags. Playlist banks. Stems. That X Y pad effect. Fix Reverb FX. Add physical button support to key shift. Rework key sync to allow jumping track to nearby key instead of forcing an exact match. Features are fun and useful!
Oh and that Engine DJ thing where I drag and drop a song into a playlist on the left, but the spaces in between the playlist are too large so I accidentally create a new playlist instead. And then Engine goes to that new playlist and I lose my spot I was working in at the collection list. Fix the heck out of that please. Or make the in between playlist drag and drop space extremely tiny?
Think the next time I've got long travel I might have to pick this up! Laptop's aging and hanging less on the DJ front, but still good for what I actually use it for. Might line it up for my birthday this year.

Great review as always Mojaxx! My fingers are crossed that real-time STEMS separation comes to Engine OS at some point.
When this happens, engine dj is going to be the best option without a doubt. A setup with two SC6000m and a Numark Mixstream pro go as a portable option is my dream.

Thanks for the review. I think I'll buy this - it has taken some time to reach this level of price and usability in all in ones.
I love engine OS, but I also love that my prime 4 has a controller mode and can be used with Virtual DJ, Serato etc.
Mixstream can also be used with VDJ
I join Mojaxx in complaining that the Prime Go doesn't control Serato.

Been on Engine OS and a SC5000 since launch day, I've never felt better about DJ + Tech since being able to untether myself from a laptop and never looked back.

Been using engine os since just before 2.0. great progression. I've got sc6000s and prime go. From a software perspective I would like to remove the BPM information from the main screen, all too easy to notice when in the mix. Physically longer pitch faders would also be a god send

I have the prime 2 and prime go, i'm glad they continue to update engine OS but I don't see myself using over virtual dj anytime soon. They have so much catching up to do with functionality and customization, when it comes to workflow. For now, it's just a backup software in case my computer goes down.
I’ll respectfully play devils advocate here and say that VDJ quietly has the most functionality and customization, just because they’ve made their ecosystem backwards compatible with every other DJ software/hardware out there. A fun trick to use are VDJ’s skins; coming from Serato, I just use the Serato skin so I’m basically at home and essentially don’t have to re-learn my DJ work flow whenever I have to use it as a backup software. Outside of having to pay for the full version to use with Engine OS I’d think you’d enjoy it!
@@DJJustJordanWhen I got the prime 2, I actually exclusively used Engine OS. I've had the prime 2 since its release 3 years ago and there are still things I'm hoping they add, such as auto gain & the ability to sort and filter playlist from streaming services to name a few. However, Im still hopeful for the future of the platform. Standalone is definitely going to be more and more viable as time goes on, but in its current state it doesn't work for me. In the meantime they work as great controllers for VDJ.

Joined when it’s was on 1.4 on the Engine software. On the players you have the option to preview a track, the only thing is that it’s a thick blue line so you’re not really seeing the actual waveform (the actual track) if Denon COULD change it to see the track instead of a blue block. We would be cooking.. secondly I would like to see a “tag list”

Was on the fence between an SC live 4 and the Flx 10.
The new fx options sways me towards to Live 4.
Reminds me of the Djay 2 software on the ipad.
It does make me wonder also how long will it be before we see a range of modular units that are stand alone. A modular range of mixer units with the screens and a chooce of jog/control buttons you can just add on and mix and match. A build it yourself solution based on your bidget you can upgrade a unit at a time instead of the thing. 😮
I'm enjoying my original Mixstream Pro. I like the idea of the battery, albeit it's not a major hassle to plug in.
I wish this unit had bigger fx pads and digital Lcd's on the jog wheels, hopefully they'll add them to the next version

A stand-alone controller with spinning platters will be nice or engine dj stems 😂.

I have been using engine for over 2 yeas with my SC5000'S. I think engine has evolved well. The only thing I have a problem with is the engine link on the x1800 mixer with on air function on SC5000'S. I have noticed if engine link is not working the bpm sync on the mixer is out by around .2 from the players. But if engine link works it will turn on the on air function on the players and bpm sync is spot on. I have to change the bpm on mixer manually using the tap and pushing the know down to get the decimals correct for bpm sync. It may sound a bit jibberish but you need bpm to be spot on for effects
I haven't tried engine os yet. Maybe i will after seeing this device!
I just love how, because it is an intermediate unit, there was just no way on earth that they could have tilted the screen a little, that would have been impossible, to have the optimum viewing angle.

This sounds great! I wish they would let the speakers go in favor of 4 more performance pads, but on the other hand the main volume pot on my prime go is noisy when I turn it too fast so 🤔
I had the same issue but with the filter pot. Sent mine back to inmusic and it arrived back with two new pots, FYI cost around £90 as it was out of warranty
Does this have AutoFade for cocktail/dinner music? Just waiting for the RANE ONE mark II to get Engine OS.

I've heard that the 3.1 update has got an option to change screen to white n black for when it's sunny outside has this been updated as can't see where to change this in settings 😮

I'm really interested in this as an upgrade to my trusty Pioneer DDJ-SB2 which I've had for years. I'm going to hold on before pulling the trigger on it until I see how well Serato is integrated into it (and how will Serato stems work with it) but having said that Engine looks like its really come a long way. Actually Mojaxx you mentioned Virtual DJ support is already up and running I think...Do you reckon you might do a follow up video in the future about how Virtual DJ & Serato work on it?
Is there any haptic feedback? when triggering the touch effects? on the touchscreen?
I was about to use my Korg Kaoss pad.
I just started DJing, and I picked up the Denon Prime Go. I didn’t realize just how far ahead of its time it was! I am grateful but still feel a little jaded that I have so many sources of media as well as streaming available to me, as well as the ability to play back from any file type or library type. Finally there’s a second battery powered standalone controller! This looks really powerful, but I feel like the small size of my Prime Go is perfect for practice and setting up little DJ sets at random places like by the lake, pool, or at the top of a mountain.
Can this standalone device pitch range go to +16? If not i don’t want it. See this too often with small pitch sliders. Hopefully can change the range to +16?
Impressive but my mixstream pro broke after a few months. But Numark is a good starter option. I found Engine on the computer completely useless. But I may pick a few of these to teach with. This unit made me like Virtual Dj Great video.
What broke on your mixstream pro?
@@nanachill it acts as if someone is touching the jog wheels intermittently. I got it fixed supposedly but it still does the same thing.
Can one swap the battery out or replace it with a new one?
I've transitioned from serato to engine. I'm having an issue when downloading new music. The files on red and unavailable. I have to go to the folder and find my songs in the entire music catalog. I've found a fix using the SD cards and USB drives to install only the songs I need for different genres

Hey my mixstream pro go freezes when i connect serato dj pro on my dell windows laptop actually it plays for like 2-5 mins then both freezes the controller and serato software
I don't understand, does it have an onboard hard drive, where you can store music or not?
For a mobile type of dj you actually need a big hard drive with all sorts of music for different scenarios, and as far as my and my friends experiences go - an external hard drive or any kind of flash drive (sd falls into this category) are not something I would like to rely on.
Countless times I've heard and had cases when ext hdd just disconnects, or the wire is busted or the connectors on usb are less snug than they used to be and as a result you have all kinds of problems.
Does this have an option to reverse the fader to Hamster?

Come on! Still only 4 pads per deck!? It’s 2023! Come on in music! I expect this out of a dj2go but the crappy reloop portable controllers have at least 8, along with Dragging feet on “stems” in engine, LETS GO! Give us a “no compromise smart controller on battery “ for once! You have it in you! Stems, Serato, a non-crappy embedded computer, give us high end and performance, we will pay!
No other reviewer talks about the touchscreen fxs. Makes me wonder if InMusic specifically asked them to not talk about it before their Engine update release.
Numark specifically told me it was ok to talk about and demo. Maybe other creators didn't ask? Either way, I'm sure everyone will cover the update in more detail when it drops for the rest of the Engine devices.

Im Looking to change my MSP PRO, for the GO, just to get TIDAL, i have BeatSource (7 millions tracks) streaming that i use with.
but for Wedding Dj, BeatSource tracks are very limited, compare to Tidal (100 millions) all genre Tracks.
Just got this today and can't for the life of me figure out how to bring up the touch fx screen, anyone know? Not in the manual either :/
Still those tiny-assed pitchfaders and flimsy browse knob :/ They also missed the chance to add jog screens (Mixtrack Platinum)
Otherwise, very sleek looking and happy to see Denon/Numark remain so active. I am a very happy Live 4 user by the way!

As this is InMusic I'm wondering if the speakers on this device are the same as on the Akai MPC Live 2. Because the speakers on those are actually very good.

I love using my mixstream pro in my shed lol. But the idea of a battery is game changing. I'll keep my controller for now. All I can say is this new unit is an amazing piece of technology if nothing else. The only downside is that when using wifi by the time the second track loads, the first is almost ending. You cannot be creative unless you purely use USB. Nice review mate.
That’s definitely your Internet connection not the unit. Streaming downloads are seconds for me.
If they add the offline locker I will sign up without hesitation.

Fader on these are bad. Couple of weeks in and its bleeding already and a nightmare to fit an inno fader
My channel 2 fader has failed.2 days before gig.
How to make it stop displaying unavailable tracks (red)? This is getting pretty annoying actually. Also if I want to change speed (both SYNC buttons are OFF) I sometimes can't - I need to move/swing the pitch a lot to make a change/unlock, but of course this is not possible sometimes bcs I play track live. This is also super annoying and only on THIS console! All others I have allow me to change pitch freely if sync button is off, but this one no..... Why did you program it this way? Can it be switched off in the next firmware? Why is it locking pitch if no one requested it!? Annoying!

Regarding Engine OS, currently 'm "battling" little things when playing of USBs created by Rekordbox or Virtual DJs CDJ export option, which should be the same
It seems that my Mixstream Pro is insisting on reanalyzing tracks the first time they are loaded from the USB, and thereby set new BPMs and changed beatgrid, even though the are analyzed, prepared and ready on the USB
I really hope that will get fixed
was wondering this myself since I only use rekordbox with USBs...if it's seamless, this is a great kit to have around
@@sadboolean8605 Well, the tracks and hot cues and playlists and so on works well from a CDJ formatted USB. And it looks like in 90+ percent of the cases the re-analyze gives the same grid and bpm, so that also works ok
But I had a feeling it re-analyzed the tracks, so I deliberately ruined some grids and bpms before exporting to see if Engine OS would still respect them and use them like I decided they should be
But it does not - at least not yet
they have to be re-analysed to the Engine database to be used inside Engine - same as any other platform
@@LonkDonk makes no sense when it's clearly stated that CDJ formatted USBs are supported.
And it's nok like any other platform. Virtual DJ will for instance happily read and use analysis data like bpm or beat grid that was done by Rekordbox or Serato. That what it means to have cross platform support
So it's fine if Engine OS can't do it. But they then shouldn't claim that they can
@@klausmogensen8691 on first import it will honour the grids, cues, loops but once that track is in the engine library you can’t edit the grids in Rekordbox and have it overwrite what’s there. You need to remove that track from the engine collection and it will be read in fresh again.
if these speakers are anything like the MPC Live II ones, which they def are since Numark is owned by InMusic just like Akai, then this unit definitely sounds great and the speakers are a great addition
