this is the end of classical music competitions
those who know, know who knows
those who don´t know, don´t know who knows
those who know, know who doesn´t know
those who don´t know, don´t know who doesn´t know
with heartfelt gratitude to all those wonderful musical souls - like - amongst many others - dmitry smirnov, hana chang & songha choi, who live music from an uncontaminated heart *
may all always be connected to the divine
and remain untouched by lower motives of
    ignorant politics
    outdated cultural biases
    narrow minded educational institutions
certain violin-schools & their personal preferences
    self-interest
    greed - hatred & delusion
    blessings to all - if*

After listening to his first round and I saw that he's playing Bartok in the second, I could already tell that it'd suit his style perfectly. This reminds me of Gitlis and Kopachinskaya, without some of their eccentricities. It's such a pity that he practically threw away his spot to the third round with a crazy Mozart performance.

What an outstanding artistic personality, what a lucky discovery! At least, it wouldn't be the first time that of all people a contestant, who didn't make the cut, cut their own path. Doubtlessly, Smirnov’s unheard-of interpretations won’t go unheard.
