I use this plugin myself if I have to mix vocals - and it is very good to get a good starting point for mixing or make a quick rough mix of a fresh recorded performance. The sad part is, that some wanna-be producer egos can't take "easy" plugins like this and they feel the need to trash talk this plugin down because of is simplicity. But there is a reason, the pros use it. Because they use whatever gets the job done. Nobody cares what is used on a mix, what matters is "does it sound good?"

Under rated plugin, infact all of the CLA plugins are like that. I think not necessarily under rated but just fits the mark when it comes to delivering. Like the CLA-2A.
But the under rated ones are this one, vocals, guitar, bass, and drums in my opinion.

yes hahah EQ, compress, reverb, chorus, delay... ok!
it does everything for you so you cant tweak the reverb, delay or anything else i feel like this would work good for vocals that already been processed but not bare dry vocals.
The point of the plugin is, that you can get a polished sound quick. Maybe you recorded vocals and the artist wants a quick rough mix to take home for a listen. If you want to tweak everything en detail, this is not for you.
You're pretty much always going to have to clean up the vocals before the mixing stage anyway. This plug-in doesn't do the clean-up for you, but it does simplify the mixing process, and for that use it is brilliant.

I didn't see this documented in the manual. What frequencies does the 3 settings in Bass & Treble target?
It sounds pretty good, but I would probably clean the vocal up with some regular eq. Get the S sounds under control, and than throw that CLA vocals on.
should we use the mono version of all plugins for vocals?????????
Do you put it in the individual vocal tracks or in the BUS/SEND track?
Is there any processing needed before using this? E.g Slight eq (remove unwanted frequencies) and compression, de-esser?
That is down to the individual mix in question. Some will require it and some won't.
I have most of CLA's plugins, and this one in the series of several, for bass, drums, etc. I have found that CLA pushes the envelope alot, but that's how he works in his Genre, for which mine are different. Woulda been MORE helpful had you just SOLO'd the male voice and keep the female voice out, as it was also a bit more over-powering. If you wanted to LATER add hers, then ok, but not upfront. I thought hers during the male segment was distracting. Many times I don't use the last three, and use other plugins for those. But it is useful to me, for some of the others by themselves, depending on which of the Three settings I use at the top, and sometimes I just turn those off. I also use several of Greg Wells' Waves plugins for color.

Effects are in stereo....normally. Vocal tracks are in MONO...normally. Do you use this plugin by putting your mono vocal track on a stereo channel and then insert the CLA plugin so the output is stereo?? Or as an effect stereo bus?? Or will this plugin be in stereo on a mono channel sent to the stereo master bus?? This is an issue! Anyone please reply. Thanks
It has two instances. Mono to Stereo and Stereo. M to S Converts the signal to stereo. Use the mono to stereo if your source is mono and stereo if your source is stereo.
@@virgilhughes7837 Thanks Virgil. I'll check it out AGAIN....;-) I ended up putting my mono vocal track on a stereo channel and then inserted the plugin. This worked fine but I'll try the other method and see if my Cubase responds correctly.

It's nice, but I barely mix vocals and I've got Izotope Nectar, which is maybe even simpler to use. Well, it's different, but also easy to use.
