    They were trying so hard to get him to say something controversial I felt. He handled it really well.

    I love how he thinks. Lately I read a lot of bad things about Nicholas Brendon and it always bothers me. James Marsters said it so well - no matter if they had any flaws they made something amazing and timeless and I will always respect them and keep a place in my heart for Buffy.

    I loved buffy, the characters and the plot were so great. And James played spike so well.That actually made spike my favorite character.

    When I was a kid, I loved the show. I watch it from time to time again.
    Spike was always my favorite. He is all in one: sweet-sexy, smart- clumsy, cold-hot, good boy-bad boy. How not to fall for him? Totally perfekt. Thanks James, he gave him his soul.

    You can tell how humble and such a good guy he is! They wanted him to say something bad about joss and the show etc. But he was like no. As an Aussie good on him for sticking it to channel 9...
    This is why i love James so much

      Particularly as James has repeatedly said he had very little to do with Joss. And Joss wanted to kill off Spike in Season 2. Spike's popularity kept him in the show. Even his moving over to Angel stopped the show being cancelled yet Joss still left as James said

    James is really perfect here. It's clearly uncomfortable for him, but he totally recognises that as difficult as everything to do with Joss is, it's important and people love it. I wish Joss hadn't put a dark cloud on it, but the show will ever remain perfect, and timeless. It's not down to one man, it's become something for all of us.

    We don't need a reboot. However, with all of the slayers activated and what's going on in the comic books there could definitely be a spin-off.

    • @jamiemarsters
      @jamiemarsters  Před 2 lety +9

      Which is exactly what they're talking about above, but because 'reboot' is the watchword of the moment, everything's getting called a reboot. It's always sounded more like a spin-off than a reboot, but the media ran with the word reboot (& incorrectly reported a recasting of the role of Buffy) & everyone got pissed, understandably. bit.ly/BuffySpinOffNotReboot - Jamie

    It really is an incredible show with an incredible cast. I think that a reboot could be cool, but there's also a chance that it'll flop.

      @Leon knox oh yeah dude for sure, they could never recreate the same charm that the original has. Hey that's sadly what a lot of companies want to do with series, milk them for all that they're worth. It's awful because it ruins the reputation of many wonderful shows/movies. But with that being said I really dislike Disney and I know more and more people are starting to climb into the same boat. They need to stop trying to buy the rights to literally everything.

    I like listening to James talk, and I think he is quite diplomatic about the Whedon allegations, but come on, you were in ten episodes directed by Joss over the years and you went to his house doing Shakespeare readings. You did work a lot with him. lol

      @BreezeOnTheLake Před 2 lety +2

      Agreed; he socialized with him many a time at his house, along with other cast members. It was jamming together that made Whedon dream up the musical episode. JM is fibbing a LOT about not being around JW much.

    • @mcnoneya
      @mcnoneya Před 2 lety +6

      @@BreezeOnTheLake working with someone and socializing with them is different. People are different at work then they are at a social function. Besides my guess is Joss acts different around men then he does women. He’s not gonna show all his sides to every person.

    • @HelloXrancidkitteh
      @HelloXrancidkitteh Před 2 lety +4

      @@BreezeOnTheLake I don't think he's fibbing. he's speaking his truth. He was talking about working with him and for the most part, he wasn't working with Joss directing. yes, they've hung out together with the rest of the cast and what not, but during those hang outs were probably chill or celebrating something Buffy related and Joss would be in a good mood during these times.
      the only thing Joss made him do, despite him begging not to as his character is (SPOILER if you haven't watched all of Buffy )
      is when Spike tried to r*pe Buffy, before he left to get his soul. yes, something dramatic had to happen to push Spike over the edge, finally making him see that he can't ever be good with just the chip and be who Buffy needed, so he went to get his soul. ( but the point is that R scene was traumatic for James to do. they had to keep stopping 'cause he'd be shaking. there's probably a good reason why he didn't mention that, one 'cause it is a spoiler still and it wasn't technically bullying, just one experience he's mentioned at Cons/Buffy fandom interviews when asked about it/the hardest scene he had to do. ) plus I agree with @Mary Clark. Joss probably did treat the men different than women. Idk if Sarah has ever mentioned anything during the time she played Buffy, or if she was spared the bullying 'cause she was the star, who knows.

      @@mcnoneya Fair comment, men certainly do behave differently around other men than they do around women,and fair comment workplace is different from socializing. But James seems to imply that he practically didn't know the guy, and it had the whiff of fudging the issue to me. He clearly doesn't want to say anything that criticises. His Answer felt like fudging to me. He knew and interacted with JW a lot.

    I don't think a reboot would work. The show was successful because it was daring in a way that wouldn't be allowed today. I wouldn't be surprised if in years to come the show won't be aired as it's deemed way too offensive.

      What are you rambling about? The show will always air on tv it's a popular show with a huge fan base , if anything bad was gonna happen as far as the show being banned from tv which is beyond ridiculous it would have happened already , There are other vampire shows that are much more violent/ offensive then poor old Buffy..

Now when it's shown the cuts are even worse with whole scenes missing . They cut references to the whole gypsy curse storyline. The whole sequence of Angel visiting Wolfram and Hart in Italy is missing due to the gypsy references for example .
