No one comes even close to David’s guitar playing. Its not because he has fast fingers or uses complicated scales or fancy tuning. He plays with standard tuning a mostly pentatonic scales with him its how he let’s the strings ring. There will never be another Gilmore his the Bruce lee of guitar world. WHAT A LEGEND

This is a very under-appreciated Floyd/Gilmour piece. The gradual pace of the song as it builds into a crescendo of typical Gilmour soaring leads is ear candy. He's not a shredder, nor is he the most accomplished technician (a la Malmsteen, Vai, Satriani) but his selection of notes and phrasing shows there's beauty in simplicity. In interviews he shares how many of his greatest solos (Time, Comfortably Numb, etc) came from "just plugging in a playing". Brilliant.

When i listen to Gilmour holding forth, i hear a faint sound from long ago, when people worshipped different gods and were closer to the universe than we are now.
Not many out there that have fingers hooked directly to the melody and rythm in their brain and make it look so easy : if I ever get close to that ideal on my Strat I think pigs will definitely be able to fly too.
I would have given up a HUGE amount of change to have been at this show! Hell, i would have paid hundreds just to stand outside and watch it on monitors! Those are some lucky, lucky humans in that audience, I must say. I wounder how many of them actually know how fortunate they were to be that close to musical legends, Gilmour in particular. peace

I´m so thankful for finally having seen him live in July. And yes he´s still the greatest, with an astonishgly young sounding voice too.
I saw him last year, after watching and watching DVD's and videos. And is amazing, he played sorrow that day and it was a dream who become real
