- This experiment is done to demonstrate the presence of vitamin C in the product. It is not a test of efficacy or potency of vitamin C.
▪️Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) can make Betadine (povidone-iodine) solution transparent due to a chemical reaction.
This is called redox reaction.
▪️Vitamin C is a reducing agent, while Betadine contains iodine, an oxidizing agent.
▪️Vitamin C reduces the iodine in Betadine, converting it from its oxidized form to iodide ion.
▪️The reduced iodine (I-) is colorless, whereas the oxidized form (I2) is brown. This color change makes the Betadine solution transparent.
▪️Even a tablet of vitamin C will make betadine transparent.
This experiment only shows the presence of vitamin C and is not a proof of efficacy.

I'm a teenager and I'm experiencing small pimples after using face washes like Joy and Himalaya. I'm not using them anymore. Could my pimples be due to these face washes? I want to add something on this u said u used betadine instead of iodine solution well betadine is made from iodine which means it is not pure iodine and when we add betadine in water (not adding any serum) and stir it the betadine dissolves in the water and it happens similarly with the serums and i think the guy has performed the right experiment with right pure solution of iodine ( i have tried the same test at home using the betadine and before adding any serum the solution was already clear)❤
Even a tablet of vitamin C makes the betadine solution clear. Does that mean that tablet of vitamin C is best for skin.
My problem is not with the experiment but with the claim that this shows efficacy of a product which it doesn’t.
I made the betadine solution and kept it for few hours . Then added the vitamin C serums . And filmed within 2 mins.
Also try doing the test with pilgrim vitamin C , unlike what he mentions in the video, it also turns betadine clear.
I bought The Derma Co one. Is it good enough ? And how long does it takes to start showing some results ?

The difference in the videos show the difference between the concentration of vitamin c serum and nothing else they are both correct.😅 it meant that Deconstruct had higher percentage of vitamin c than that of garnier .
