Remember people, having a pet is a life long commitment! They are family!
I have been seeing more and more dogs in shelters being listed as "I no longer fit into my family's lifestyle" or "My family had a baby" - and here they are sitting in a cage, discarded because their former owners viewed them as props. It makes me furious!

Unfortunately is their life long span commitment. Way too short for the joy end love they give.
Love how you rescue all the “eats too much, got too big, sheds too much, barks too much, snores too loud, too active, not active enough “. Basically everything any dog does. Too many beautiful dogs, even purebreds going to shelters for no fault of their own. Thank you for taking them in when they have nowhere else to go. 🥰🇨🇦
I just took in a 14 month old German Shepherd who is drop dead gorgeous, inside and out. He's already 70 pounds. His previous owner has legitimate health issues and could no longer take care of him. They've been trying to rehome him for a while, but everything you said worked against him. Owner surrender/euthanasia was on the table. I am not really in a position to add another GSD to my life, but I did to keep him safe. It's a crazy world out there.

I'm amazed at how the dogs all seem to sense something special about Lee. They just seem to know that he's there to make their lives better. and they haven't even seen the sanctuary yet. Amazing.

If I could afford vet bills for more than 1 dog, I would totally adopt. It’s just so hard these days with it being so expensive. I spend so much on vaccinations, dental care and pills. Top quality dog food. I just wish it was more affordable for responsible people who want to adopt more animals. 🦴♥️
I relate. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats all rescued. Each has a special diet very expensive. One of my dogs had surgery also recently. Not only the surgery but the post surgery meds were expensive. I would adopt more if I could afford it. But I am happy that the 4 I have are living their best life.

Yes, thank you very much - they are all beautiful! I have an opinion on why they don’t get adopted and why there are so many. Please forgive me if I step on toes with my opinions. Here goes. One of my Great Pyres (male 8 yrs old) got kidney infection and I ended up having him put down to the cost of $550. For exam, bloodwork & two injections. I set my other Pyres with a new vet. Package for shots, bloodwork , heartworm test over $400. Why are vets charging so much? Is it the pharmacy, the tech skills to give shots & draw blood aren’t difficult. I’m elderly and on fixed budget now & it’s difficult to do this & make sure they have good food. The idea of being without a dog is hard. Pets are very expensive. IMHO God bless🙏🏻

Lee, there are so many people struggling financially with the cost of everything. I would imagine if a family has a dog and cant afford to feed it/vet care, they are being surrendered. Likewise with much less disposable income, getting a pet has also dipped. I lost 2 cats last year; I only adopted 1 cat recently as I cannot afford the proper vet care for 2 [right now]. 2025 will be better when necessities cost less! I hate to say it but because it could stir a political pot but I think with the rise in cost of everything in the US that people aren't able to make ends meet for their families so unfortunately these wonderful and beautiful fur babies are the ones that suffer! It cost a lot to take care of any animal and it seems to be a big problem right now and the shelters are overwhelmed by animals being discarded or not being adopted! Thank you so much Lee for all you do for these wonderful creatures. ...dogs, cats, horses, birds etc! You truly are a blessing!! ❤❤❤❤

I'm so happy you can take all these dogs and other animals. It is breaking my heart that shelters everywhere are full and not enough rescues or fosters are available to table them all. I can't at this time, but when my circumstances change I will get at least 2 more dogs.
