PSA - Invest in a Dash Cam - She Blamed Me For Her Hitting My Truck

- This lady rolled back into me at a stop light and tried to blame me for running into her. You can see us approaching her and she takes her foot off the brake. She kept blaming me and that I rolled into her saying it wasnt her card because her car is an automatic it cant roll back. Obviously she doesn't understand gravity and torque converters. Good thing I had my dash cam on, she continued to say it was my fault, up until I showed her the dash cam of her rolling. Dis she try to scam me?

Little tip: don’t mention that you have a dash cam until the police get there. Make them sound like an idiot
Lakerguy1000 👌
Lakerguy1000 Let her add "lying to an officer" to her street rat scam.
CaptainSparklez tip: let them do whatever say whatever they want including filing a lawsuit and the Judge asks anything else show them the video
There was no need for a cop in that situation
PeRX Yes, a cop was needed. She's criminally scamming. People like her don't deserve to be amongst free citizens.
Never tell someone you have a dashcam. When it happens, just call the police and let them lie to the police. Then show the police your dashcam and the footage. Then the police can deal with their stupidity.
theiran
Yup that's the way I would do it.
What typically happens afterwards when they're caught lying, does the police dismiss the case or would they charge her with fraud or something? And would you be able to sue them for distress?
Jeff Jeff you would be able to sue them, lying to the police can be considered obstruction of justice which could be up to 5 years in prison and it would be considered insurance fraud.
Oh man, I would get the police to throw the book at them in that case
Jeff Yo! What's your profile pic?
Always let the scammer lie to the police before mentioning the dash cam.
Good idea
well in this instance, they saved the headache of calling the police.
I love the fact she was okay with a handshake and then essentially stalked you until you got out of the car to try to report it behind your back.
rule 1 of having a dash cam. say nothing about the dash cam.
Why not. I have a life dont want to waste going to court
If you want to have your time wasted going into court. I'd be saying "The whole thing is on dashcam." over and over again. Take off work, get stripped searched in the courthouse lobby, sit there all day, finally get called up...…"Here is my dashcam footage of the event." half an hour later, after having them drop their charges, you get to return to the parking garage and pay the city 18 bucks for parking your car. Just isn't worth it.
@@BackSeatJunkie "Strip searched" because you've got court? How poor of an area are you in? Lol Taking off your belt, and throwing your wallet and keys into a tray isn't a strip search. & he's talking about letting the police get the other persons' statement, and then showing them the dash cam footage... *This case wouldn't go to court, and 9/10 others wouldn't, either*.. That's the (WHOLE POINT) of having a dash cam, having evidence of what (JUST) happened. Lol
I'm sure what Flyinghotpocket means, is getting somebody in trouble for lying to the police, A.K.A filing a false police report, which is a felony. So, instead of the woman in this case just changing her story before the cops get there, she'd face actual repercussions for her actions, and not try to pull the same bitch ass move on somebody else in the future.
Also, most companies won't let you take the day off, just because you've got court. Ya show up, you leave, go to court, and come back to work.
Small claims court rulings are usually pretty fast.
& not everywhere in the world charges you parking fee's. Especially most courthouses. Lol
OP is correct, keep silent about the cam until the cop arrives and let her speak first when the cop gets there.
While waiting, keep subject engaged so they don't think to run. Act like a stupid sheep but obviously never accept blame. Ideally record stuff with your phone.
"You say I hit you? You're saying it's my fault? We really should get the police here ASAP. Are you sure you don't need an ambulance? You look unsteady. Like in shock. Oh that? Yeah, that's a dash cam. Stupid thing is completely worthless. (Ignore further questions and look depressed about everything.) Oh god if this is my fault it's gonna completely destroy me."
If you can't get them to damn themselves directly, give them the idea to claim they have a busted back and rack up a huge hospital bill.
The ambulance is comin, and medical bill Hell is comin with it. 😂😂😂 These people seriously deserve nothing less.

This also applies to commercial vehicles in which the company has already installed a camera. Invest in a secondary camera that is under YOUR control, and run it alongside the company one full time. This has actually saved me from my own employer trying to screw me over as well as the 3rd party

Fake claims should be charged with fraud.
People do get charged with fraud by the Insurance companies and that person ends up in prison.
There needs to be an insurance claim to be charged with insurance fraud. People fucked up enough to scam other people should be charged with fraud before insurance companys are ever involved
Felonyyyyyyyy
The way you get them, is allowing the case to move forward into insurance claim... thats when the insurance company will charge an individual with fraud. Dont say anything about the dash cam until police arrive and statements are already made. That is proof of fraud being committed. After that is done, then mention the dash cam. They cant retract a statement made to police because of evidence
They are. It’s called insurance fraud and it’s a felony...
Always always always dont mention the fact that you have a dashcam until youre in court, a lot of these guys scam people and the look on their faces when the dvd comes out is probably the most priceless thing on the planet plus they get jail for lying in court, and they owe you for all the time they wasted
Good luck getting whatever they owe you for wasting your time.
if they got $ to go to court I'm sure they have $ to cough up from their miserable excuse of a life.
The sensible thing to do would have been to just exchange insurance information and say you're in a rush. Then go home and smash your headlight with a hammer and blame it on her as the dashcam footage shows her rolling back, but not the damage.
apply some context lol
your movies suck
You should not have told her about the dashcam. Let her get a ambulance chasing att , that wants to sue you for everything you have. Bring your evidence to court then sue her . She'll loose her neck brace. If you just let it go she'll keep on doing this until she hits a jackpot. Between government assistance and insurance claims, I'm sure that she is living large.
^^this^^

Oh no, you had to sit through 30 seconds of the video before the incident, the horror! Lol.
Pailhead33 what are you talking about? He could have easily stretched that to an 8 minute video for runtime.
Johnny Waffles Ok I apologise, I misread your initial comment and thought you were being sarcastic.

I would've turned her in. She's likely gonna do it again and some other poor bloke without a dashcam is gonna take the fall for it.
Sargent¥ dude fr he let her off too easily
Yep wouldve called the cops and went after her for damage to my truck
@Green Tea if there is a big enough incline, an automatic car will definitely roll back if she releases her foot off the brakes.
Yup should have called the police, then show the evidence to them so they can write her a ticket and document her car so she can't try to scam some poor sap.
With great dash cam powers comes great responsibility and OP failed the public.

That’s the classic “reverse into someone and blame them” trick. It was invented in Brampton, Ontario Canada. The home of the highest insurance in Ontario.

From what I've seen in the past, don't admit to having a dash cam until the police are involved. Let the other person dig their grave with lies that can be proven later.
Preferably wait until they fill out a police report. If it's clear they're lying to both you and the police and they fill one out, they can be arrested for filing a false police report.
A court appearance might be seen as a big waste of time to some. Might be better to take the less take consuming path if you have had no loss anyway?
As long as you make authorities aware before it moves to court, they'll throw out the case anyway and possibly arrest them for false claims.

Pamela Schramke And with a truck that couldn't have even done the damage.
Pamela Schramke ,We bought a dashcam and it cost us only $45 from China. It works like a charm. Thanks China, for making it affordable to people like us.
I don't think she planned it, but when she thought you hit her she was like, now I'm getting paid. I had a lady who looked just like that woman try to blame me for a busted out fog light attached with old raggedy shoestring when I literally was backing up so slow ,cuz it was a tight sqeeze, that I didn't even feel it bump and I did no damage. I took pictures and called my insurance. They said don't worry we can tell if it's old damage. three months later I got a letter saying my insurance is going up because I'm at fault for an accident. DTA, don't trust anybody!
I believe soon cars will be made with dash cams installed at the factory and we won't need to buy them. Seems the smart thing to do.
There are cars that have them installed from factory already.
I got into a small accident like this about a month back. Thankfully we were both honest about what happened and things got resolved just fine. But all these videos remind me not all people are like that. I think I'm gonna be purchasing a dash cam soon.
Same here. Last May I got into a fenderbender and admitted it was my fault both to the driver and to the officer that showed up. A little under a month after that incident I got cut off by two really aggressive drivers with my girlfriend in the car. I was pissed I didn't have a dashcam cause the police asked to see footage when that happened (they didn't have a traffic camera set up at the intersection). The two of us bought dashcams for our cars immediately after that. Sucks it was on her birthday.
I had a guy change lanes into me, same deal, him and his witness, only thing that saved me was dash cam video.
She was definitely trying to scam you. Thank goodness for the dashcam!

Should have waited for the cops, saying nothing, until they took her statement. Then show them the dashcam video. She'd have gotten charged with making a false statement, the insurance would refuse to pay for her car's damages, and she may have been jailed and lost her license.
no she would not have gotten charged with making a false statement
Many police departments will not come out if all vehicles are drivable and there are no injuries.
It would be the best if that would really happen.
I wish this was the case. I literally had dash cam footage of a woman hitting my car, pulling over, having a discussion in front of my vehicle and for some reason decided to flee the scene when she was told me she was getting her license from her car. I showed the video to the cops and they literally told me to just handle it through my insurance company and that I should be "fine" since I had video evidence to prove that it wasn't my fault...... I was floored to see how ineffective the police are when it comes to semi serious traffic offenses. This happened in Los Angeles for those of you that are curious.
Due to a minor accident my wife was involved in recently (not her fault), we found out in South Dakota that if the damage is less than $1000, there will be no ticket issued. Whaaaat?
I wondered why that area looked familiar but then I realized I lived right down the road from that intersection xD How funny to see it on another CZcams video!
Yeah wow! Holy crap. I've seen a few of these now and most of the poop their pants as soon as you say the words dash cam... Thanks dude
You are too nice of a person... I would have called the police and let them settle it out, take her to court... and THEN let everyone know I have a dashcam that has all the proof. Scammers like this need to go to jail or get a large fine.
DrGeneralkumar82 Maybe they had some place to be. Maybe they just didn't want to turn it into a whole thing and get on with their day.
MetroVerse true, guy probably had better things to do than deal with this scumbag.
Waste of taxes
There was no damage to his vehicle and he knew he had the dashcam to cover his arse if she tried to hang any of it on him. No need to waste his time on her.
Going out of your way to put someone in jail is kind of sick- especially for something as minor as this.
I think i would have let her lie to the police.
Exactly. Let her tell her side to an officer THEN roll the footage and have her cited or possibly charged for fraud!
I'd take it a step farther and say sorry for hitting her and once the cop shows up, then change my story.
You can't lie to police but you can say whatever the fuck you want to everyone else
The only thing that matter is the dash cam because that is the only thing you need if she lies to the police 📹
Hehdhchrydhd Duunhdjrjdjdj he can like to that lady all he wants saying it was his fault. If not recorded not heard by the cop and on top of the video, pretending and acting like he was to blame isn't going to make a difference in that situation.

Good on you man . I can’t stand losers like that who go around scamming people so shady so gross . Lock em up teach them a lesson .
I would have let her call the cops and not tell her I had a camera until the police arrived. Then she'd get a ticket and points on her record. If she did it again to someone else, her credibility is already ruined and she has a record, so the cops are less likely to believe her in the future. Then her career of insurance scams is over.
+National Dashcam - Now this is a feasible and good idea.
Additionally, let her go to the fake doctor and run up the bill which she will ultimately be responsible for.
Great Idea !
She seemingly didnt want the cops to get involved. Perhaps because she would have negotiated a cash deal and then later filed a insurance claim with the photos she took.
I never understand why people who have a dashcam would point out they have a dashcam before any action is formally taken by the scammer. All that you do by doing that is let her try, try again and now some poor guy without a dashcam is going to likely have to get action taken for something that wasn't his fault. Instead, let her engage in the legal process of pursuing damages to her vehicle, then provide this footage to the insurance company and they'll counter sue AND likely pursue further legal action because she is doing something illegal.
Don't tell them you have a dashcam. See them in court.
Welp.
America I guess. It's different here. Insurance fraud gets you to court in my country.
Would you really bother taking someone to court over something this minor?
I don't think insurance companies consider it minor.

leethal956 the road going across is one of the busiest roads in the area and yeah that light sucks to be stuck at.
leethal956 lol yeah I noticed that too.
Near where I live, there's this one dreadful turn that can change how you plan your whole route. The green light lasts a generous while for people going straight, or turning right. But this one particular left turn -- the one significant turn that everyone needs, never not a line for it -- lasts like 3 seconds. If you miss that window, you're gonna have to wait 2 or 3 more minutes. Literally everyone runs the yellow and several run the red.
And it's the most direct and easy path from the interstate highway to the center of our town where everything is. It's the worst left turn ever.
I’m a cop in Ohio and we would definitely appreciate being called for someone doing this. I would have liked to interviewed her first without her knowing about the video. If she stuck to the story that you hit her and she didn’t back into you, I’d charge her for Improper Backing and Falsification. The latter of which “could” put her in jail until the next court date in my county....depending on how off-track and deceptive her story was. If she is a scammer, which it appears she is, then I’d love to have a report with her name on it along with a falsification conviction hanging on her neck thus calling into question her future credibility.
Depending on the vibe I got from her, it might have even been worth it from an investigation standpoint to keep the video quiet and just cite her for improper backing to see if she filed an insurance claim a week or so later, then hit her with the prior two charges PLUS (insurance) fraud.

But if they file that report and they are later proven wrong they can get in big trouble for it. I work in NY state as a liability adjuster and if you report a hit and run to the police and use your collision to fix your car it's considered non surcharge able. You're right about: "Get a Dash Cam and Protect Yourself!!"
I've had dash cameras for about 10 years now. More than once, they have saved me from a liar.
Have had mine for 5 years. I've had some road ragers trying to cause an accident with sudden break checks. I always laugh and point at the camera. Most of the time, they take off. Once, they pulled up beside me to yell at me before they noticed the camera. It makes a HUGE difference. I'm getting one installed in my back plate too.
I had a front dash cam for many years. Have now got a better one which records front and back every time I go out in my car. I let it record audio so if I’m in an accident, it will pick up their excuses, if I’m in the wrong that is 😝
I drove for a major freightline, and the company decided to put cameras in all the trucks. Of course a driver asked what the cost was, and it was astronomical. So we drivers were upset over all that money being spent. Next year we received a good profit sharing check. Insurance costs were way down. Three wrongful death suites against us for many millions of dollars were quietly dropped after the plaintiff's lawyers received a copy of our dash cam footage. And several of us were cleared of wrong doing in fender bender accidents also. Needless to say, we drivers now love our dashcams. As for myself, I would of missed out on two big safety awards if not for the dash cam showing the deer did not yield and illegally tried to merge into interstate traffic at about midnight one night. (May of prevented another wrongful death suite) ha ha

If her picture paints a thousand words.... Your video evidence is a masterpiece
Also ... get repellent bug spray while you're at Walmart. That also helps to fight off annoying/crazy drivers !!!
It was plainly your fault! Your truck was much bigger and had more mass than her car, therefore the gravity of your truck pulled her car backwards into you. I’m afraid she’s got you fair and square 😂 😂
she was driving back wards and hit their truck and said they hit her car

People should be fined for making false claims.
No. They should be arrested, prosecuted, imprisoned, AND fined for making false claims.
Vance McCarthy they should have the shit beaten out of them
It's called insurance fraud and it is already against the law
I hate that. Someone made a false claim and almost made me homeless and bankrupt.

Good advice.
First rule of having a Dashcam... never talk about your Dashcam.
Wait for the police to arrive and show them the video. If you show the scammer the dashcam video, they will quickly change their story, and bid you adieu, like the lady here.... and then they will try again on a different motorist.
And, she was no doubt a scammer, since automatic cars do not roll back when you let off the brake. Her car was clearly shifted out of drive and into neutral. She wanted a new bumper.
i agree with the part about "don't tell them you have a cam". but an automatic WILL roll backwards if the slope is steep enough. you'd have to give it gas to stay in one place on that slope. leaving the steep driveway at my job every day taught me how to left foot brake to keep from rolling back in an auto, and later, that same driveway taught me how to use the handbrake to keep from rolling back on a hill start in a manual transmission car.
Gibson99dotcom I know! I hate the dumbasses that give you no space to rollback in a slope as well! What if I had a manual or my automatic rolls back? Now my car is going to bump yours and I would be at fault even though there was little that can be done and they stopped leaving only a sliver of space! I sometimes want to scream at people. :| (not saying that happened here. I’m just saying that pisses me off)
Tractionless. yes they do roll back if the hill is steep enough
Curiously Tot If you hit another car because you roll back it just means you are a bad driver. You are not in control of your vehicle and hit someone else's vehicle because of your inability to drive properly. You shouldn't need the space. If you do you don't deserve your drivers license.
Curiously Tot I know what you mean. I usually do a handbrake start if there's someone too close to my tail.
Yup, 100% insurance fraud. Always call the police. Always take your own photos (including the driver and all passengers if you can) and video preferably before moving the vehicles. Never tell them you have a dashcam, just show the officer, that way he can file charges of insurance fraud. I wish everyone had a dash cam, would make my job easier.(ins. fraud)
I wish they would. Ive made the suggestion several times, even as a pilot/test program but it was a no go.
Im regular size gay and no one believes Im gay when they meet me and one of my friends would tell people this and its kinda funny so I used it as my ID here.
So perhaps you should use "I don't look gay", because if you are not short and you definitively shoot the poop, "Just a little gay" doesn't make sense, unless you mean you "act a little gay". Put a different way, you can't be "A little Dead" or "A little pregnant".
Just a Little Gay id rather people admit they were wrong in a parking lot than waste my tax money in jail for being dumb
Just a Little Gay: How about nobody cares whether or not that you are a homosexual? Why would anybody care what you do in the privacy of your car's back seat? Why do you feel the need to tell anyone that would listen that you are a homosexual? Look you even had to have it as your CZcams username. You may be "just a little" homosexual but are indeed completely pathetic . . .
Never say you have a dash camera till after they file a police report
I wish dashcams existed when I had a similar encounter many years ago.
Should have called the cops she is an insurance scammer
Saberease Era he needs to report it to his insurance company. Cops wont do much but the Insurance company will
Steven M, having a police report of this "accident" would help the insurance companies if she tries this again, especially if the dash cam footage is included in the report
Mark S insurance companies have other systems that alert them to every accident someone has been in. They do it by things like name, vin number address ect. All insurance companies share the information
You should have called the police and reported her.
or not snitch and deal with it like he did
someone got jumped in highscool for talking too much didnt they?
You sound like you would struggle to write your name in crayon.
Maybe if his truck had sustained any kind of damage from her little trick, then he might have. But he said there was no damage on his vehicle, and she did apologize, albeit after she saw the video, so he let it go. It was the right thing to do, since there was no damage, and nobody was hurt. Just her pride, and embarrassment at getting caught in her lies.
+SophieMia806 It doesnt matter the point is she is an insurance scammer and she will do it again to some other shmuck who might not be lucky enough to have a dashcam. Anyone with any reasonable amount of braincells should have reported it and given the footage to the police so she is on record.
It was the early 80s before dashcams when something like this happen to me. I was stopped at the light and new Cadillac hit my lifted suburban with a trailer hitch with a ball, I told the other driver to pull over to the side street to look at the damage, of course, there was only a small scratch on the ball of the hitch of my truck but it went through grill and radiator and was dripping fluid of the Cadillac. So I told him I can call for the cops, but didn't want me to so I told him no damage to my truck so I'm going and I took his info and drove off, no problems, you have to pay attention to stopped traffic, I told my softball team about it and we had a good laugh.
When she was checking damages it looked like she didn't even glance at, or give a crap about YOUR damages that SHE caused. So glad you had the evidence to shove it that liars face.
never tell them you have a dash cam. let them call the police, and then tell the police when they show up that you have a dash cam. then show the police the video.
Yup, this guy should have gotten her name and license plate no. and given it to the police so they know she's a scammer.
C M Damn.
Where do you live that the police would come for a minor fender-bender?? Where I live the police only come if the damage is likely to be over $1000, if any of the vehicles involved become undriveable, or if there are injuries. If someone called the police for something like this they would get charged for false alarm...
Um, it's on video. He didn't need to go and write it down.
prairiepanda in my part of illinois, you are expected to call police for any and all traffic accidents. They come make a report and pass out tickets
I wouldn’t have even told her I had a dash cam, just called the cops and showed them the video when they asked for my statement. Scam artists are rampant!
Why let the "victim" know about the cam after statements? Take that shit to court let them lie there way to jail
Amazing friggin people in this world.
She either put her car in neutral or disabled her back up lights. Good work dude!
My husband bought me a brand new suv for my 22nd birthday and it sat in the driveway for a week until my dash cam arrived. 😂
Nice flex
Married and a free car at 22? Dang!!
@@gentrydean3789 i was about comment the same thing.hahaha
@P. L. You can't stop someone from hitting you 100% of the time tough guy
@P. L. You really think you can? LOL
wonder how many times she does that and gets paid by others can bet you you were not the first or last person she pulls that on
I experienced this myself, and found out from the insurance company that 'roll back' scams are one of the most-prevalent types of insurance fraud out there....they NEVER get their car fixed, take the $5000 payout, and keep on going. If you get a 'roll back' fender (or bumper) bender, CALL THE POLICE (and with the use of a dash cam), show them the roll back. If they document the driver did roll back into you, then your insurance is notified, and it hits their record. A couple of times, and they can never pull this scam again.
Bought a new truck last month. Before I accepted delivery of it I had the dealership install a dash camera (available through truck manufacturers accessories catalog). It connects to my phone wirelessly so I can show police without removing my camera. Camera system looks out of both front and rear windows.
I was side swiped and our system is set up if less than $5000 damage and no injuries, no police. Who-ever tells the best story at the Accident Reporting Center wins. I won but immediately went out and bought a dashcam!!! Good video, good advice, get one!
By the time she called the insurance company, she was probably claiming that she had 14 of her cousins in the car and they were all hurt.
LOL! As a chiropractor in the Chicago area I've seen that dozens of times
If she had any cousins with her they would have jumped the victims.
14? you have to be a bus driver for that XD a normal car isnt even allowed to hold that much, if any nation allows a normal car with less than 8 seats drive with 14 people inside they are madlads
Thanks. I have had a dash camera for about 5 years now. Saved my ass once due to a car ran into my right side when their lane ended. Trooper watched the video and started writing them the ticket.
Dash cameras show EVERYTHING and make a better driver out of most.
In situations like this, I just pull off the roadway (here in texad, you can actually be ticketed for obstructing traffic over minor fender benders) and wait for PD if the person feels they need that.
Not only are they good for scammers on the street but also at repair shops. The last time I took my car in for minor work he didn't notice my cam right away. Then he eyeballed the wires by the rear view. Then I heard him say "OH SNAP".
Don't you just love it. As soon as you mention DASH CAM, their story completely changes.
Dash cams are truly a man's/woman's best friend.
More like car's best friend.
Apparently not with that idiot. There are tons of people out there who will keep tell lies as if they are howling to the moon
Instead of saying man woman cars.. dash cams are ‘drivers’ best friend.
@@akashsharma9210 but then you can't show everyone how progressive you are!

It doesn't matter if you caused the dents or not. She ran into you

SickUrban so how am I wrong?
Daddy
"So How Am I Wrong?" Jesus Christ, Fuck Off It's clear that you're a troll given that name and profile picture.
Abraham Elkayim she ran into him causing dents in her own car. So why would he have to pay for the Dents in her car? It's on camera
Yup. Seen it too often here in Florida. They don't just roll backwards though, they'll actually use Reverse.
Dashcam dashcam dashcam. Can't say it enough.
Never let that slide my man. People do this all the time for $$, I live in a town chocked full of it. Hammer their arses every single chance you get
Please, if you have a dash cam, don't go telling them you have a dash cam. Wait till the cops get there and the other person gives their statement, then tell them about the footage.
If you tell them about the footage beforehand, they can change their story before the cops get there. If they lie to officers and then you tell them about footage, you now have a very good case in court = easy money.
Casty Plays not with scammers like this. Take it to court and then show it. Then they’ll get jail time for lying in court and filling a fake police report
Waste of time. You'll never see a dime from those deadbeats - even if you sue and win.
I had someone do this to me and it took 3 years to disappear from my record, made my insurance sky rocket. I wish I would've had a dash cam. He even hopped out of the car yelling for $500. Thanks for sharing
Kept telling my buddy to get one for a couple of years now finally the other day Tesla cut him off made him hit another car... And the other two people are ganging up and saying it's his fault... And now he has no proof ... but guess what he has in his rental car... Yep a dashcam
Steve Turner tell us how it goes I'm interested!
Who ever the fuck it was that did that to you is an asshole but dont worry karma would of gotten them back buy now hopefully someone with a more expensive car did it back to them
@Bob-Klobb exactly
This is one of the reasons why I have dashcams in each of my Antique cars.
This is why we need dash cams on everything
I never would have said a word about the dash cam, I would have called the police and had her fill, out the report, then showed the cop the dash cam. Rest assured, this was not the first or the last for her!
Nate so that way she couldn’t scam someone else without a dash cam
Edit: might save the policeman some work in the future
I MUST agree with Theiran's comment below. ALWAYS allow or encourage them to get the police. Provide them with the number > 911. Let them lie and then you offer the officer a look at your evidence. A camera is considered unbiased. It only sees what it sees. You win. Plus that look when they understand their butt is a lawn and the officer is the mower.
No no no you dont tell the cops or the person you have a dashcam you wait for it to go to court and since they are the "victim" thry will get to plead there case first let them lie to the court to the judge and law enforcement then when its your turn you get to watch them squirm as you play the video evidence not only will they realize they fucked up but they will be either heavily fined for the accident AND lying in a court of law and then they ALSO have to pay for all damages and insurance that alone is at least im guessing in my currency (cause i doubt we live in the same country) around 10 grand if they cant pay it they go to jail and if there caught doing the same shit again to pay for court fees and fines the ugghhhh go to jail sorry this was a rushed comment im sorry if some of it doesnt make sense my point is keep the dashcam a secret
isn't 911 for emergencys only?
Not telling the officer about the dashcam is a bad idea. It could be construed as withholding evidence, interfering with a police investigation, and runs the risk of being declared inadmissible.
Situational, waiting to point out the dash cam probably makes the cops day much more complicated. If that's a local cop, might be better to deescalate things in the long run.
james heyer because eeeveryone knows the local police phone number. Especially if they live hours from the workplace. It's not like 911 is fully capable of redirecting you to this number.
What a surprise to me when she stepped out of the vehicle. Think I have seen her on other scams. Never let the scammer know you have video. Let them sink themselves.
dude that guys is a genius
i had a similar thing happen to me. I was stopped, like you were, and a car backed up into me. The driver said I rear ended him. His insurance even placed blame on me. I said ok, well here is the video. My insurance promptly put the other driver at fault. a 60 dollar dash cam can save you so much trouble.
Yeah, I had something similar happen to me. I was behind someone at a red light, and suddenly they were backing up. When the police showed up, they said that they hadn’t seen us behind them (in spite of the fact that I had at least four more cars behind me, and we’d been there at least a full minute). Was a whole mess with insurance.
Where did you purchase yours? I saw some at Walmart but idk /:
WELL DONE. I've been using dshcams for 10 years. Worth their weight in gold.
I literally bought a GoPro to film car reviews and other activities, but I will definitely use it as a dashcam as well!
dash cams should just come standard with every car at this point
I think teslas do
