    Heres what I learned:
Do not use combs or brushes.
Mildy wet hair or put a deep conditioner before you undo braids or twists.
Do not start to untangle twists at the ends. 6:11-6:29.
    Finger detangling technique 7:02-9:45, 11:22.
    Take off rings 10:51.
    twisting technique 13:37.
    Removing shed hair 14:52, 16:00.
    Seal your ends.
    Thank you so much!

You’re the type of person I want to be my stylist. I took care of my own hair for years before I decided to try to find a “natural hair stylist”. What I found was that now a days “natural hair stylist” are just people who do hair in general but don’t actually know anything about how to treat and care for natural hair. These “stylist” still use combs, blow dryers, and other tools. They also yank and pull on my hair so much that they are pulling hair out. Plus allllll they want to do is CUT the hair. I had to go back to doing my hair myself because it’s clear that I’m the only person who truly CARES about my hair the same way you do yours.

Lauren Gray yessss I know this is a little different but I decided to start my hair journey at 14, the time I finally convinced my mom to let me do my own hair, and when I told my hairstylists (who has relaxed hair) she told me that she didn’t know why I would want to do that because black hair is always nappy, always matted, and that you can’t do anything with your hair. She had the audacity to tell me that I couldn’t do anything with my NATURAL 4A/B HAIR! I didn’t even know my natural curl pattern, which is so beautiful, until I washed it by myself for the 3rd or 4th time. She would blow dry my hair every time she did it every two weeks, but only after roughly rubbing my hair dry with an old towel that caused breakage galore. I’m 15 now, and I’ve gone from my hair being a little above my neck to my collarbone! I think that’s about three inches. I’m so happy I decided to take that step even though my mom’s still skeptical😕

Monica Wilson i also transitioned to natural around 15. A lot of my critics are now natural themselves and have asked me for tips. No one could understand why I wanted to go natural. My mom acted like my hair would fall out 🤔🤨?? My hair never went past my shoulders when I was relaxed. Now it often grows to armpit length before I cut it lol. I’m trying not to do that anymore because I do want it to grow out. It’s so much easier to care for imo and super easy to retain length. I don’t need to combat harsh chemicals

Black hair can grown and it's not always matted. There are many Black women who are glowing long hair. I pray the Lord bless your hands to grow your hair. Speak life over your hair. Haven’t gone to the salon since 2019 and I’ve retained 7 inches of length, something I could never achieve in only a year
Edit: 31st December 2019 to be exact, so basically since 2020. Ever since I put my hair care into my own hands, only twist my hair, wash my twists and retwist, oil oil oil, leave in conditioner every day (just a little bit mixed with water), my hair has flourished so much. It’s amazing what a whole year without combing and heat has done for my hair

I haven’t made my flaxseed gel yet, but that’s next on my list. You were so funny when you said the tangle thingies😂. I have noticed I have very little breakage when I finger detangle compared to using tools, but I don’t have awesome nails like you so trying to detangle my roots can be taunting...I’ll keep trying to get better at that. I can already tell you have grown very knowledgeable in your hair care journey and just the lil tidbit of info I've received thus far is confirmation to myself I am on the right path w my own journey. I haven't completely ditched my combs n brushes, but in the past year I am seeing positive results from fingering thru my strands verses combing..I was forced into a big chop after my hair falling out from meds I was prescribed back in Nov 2022. Big chop was done Jan 2023, I had a lil over 2 inches of hair all around. My hair reaches a lil past my neck now in July 2024. Your tips are Awesome! Thank you💜

Thanks, great tips. I have 4c hair and I have tried detangling with my fingers, this doesn't work for my hair type but since I have using the Aleo Vera juice on my hair before detangling, has helped a lot, it doesn't mat up as much and I have learned to retwist my hair weekly to keep from matting up as well. The one tip I like is misting my hair with the Aleo Vera juice first before taking out my twist, I use to mist my hair with the juice once I take the twist apart, so I will try misting my hair with the juice first. I do use JBCO daily as well as misting my hair daily with the mixture of Aleo Vera juice and water and my hair loves it, I have a very little shedding, also, my hair hates olive oil and I don't know why but it is ok because it loves the JBCO. I have never heard of the marshmallow roots before but will try, again, thanks for the tips.

Different people treat their hair differently. When I transitioned from store bought products to natural products, I first washed my hair out with a sulfate shampoo to get all the product build up out. Then I water washed my hair for about a month. After that, I slowly started adding in natural products which my hair and scalp loves it. Using the least amount of products works best for me. I also switched from the LOC method to the LCO method. This kept my hair moisturized longer than before.

It may be the size of your twist along w/ needing a cut. I had to work my way up to her method, it took me a year, and I still have to adjust size of my twists. I knew I realistically, I needed to cut 8 inches because I bleached my hair 3yrs ago. I couldn't let go of my length all at once, because I love my length. That's why I went natural couldn't get past bra strap relaxed. Anyway, I slowly cut a 1 and 1/2 inches every 3 months. Still got a good 2inches to cut but I'm finally back to mid-back(when streatched), which is where I was before bleaching ste up my hair. Also my hair is dense, but not as dense as her's so I do smaller twist than she does. I think she said she has approximately 80-100 twist but I have 126 exactly. That number fits my length and density. Also I don't do twist-outs, just retwist individually, except when I trim my damage off every 3mo, and hopefully this next trim will be the last. Hope this helps.

JADE P thank you, I did trim my ends and I usually finger detangle. I have started braiding at night and wearing buns, so will see how that works but I do miss my twists.

Nadia Real Ala T Thank you. I do get bored with my styles so am braiding and bunning at the moment and have trimmed my ends. I do miss my twists though so may try again and keep my ends moisturised.

Do you have any tips on detangling the crown of the head. My hair is the thickest at the crown and sides and it gets extremely tangled and matted. Any suggestions for a technique for this? Thanks!

    I love your hair 😍
I just did a mini chop after a really bad shedding phase. My hair seems so much healthier now & im just trying to make sure I keep it that way while I get my length back. Thinking about completely getting rid of my tools for a while (I don’t shed as much anymore but I’m sure without tools I can see a lot less), & maybe trying twist for a while. Do you wash your hair while they’re in the twist?

I finger de tangle also, whenever I use a comb or brush on my hair I think I have more hair loss than if I just use my fingers.

Now that your hair is past your reach, you might get better leverage while twisting if you put your hair behind your shoulder/back. Or maybe loop it around your arm (loosely of course).

She has a wash day video that's where the spray is mentioned but it's not really elaborated on but I read in the comments it's 2 parts water 1 part acv and 1 part aloe vera juice. I used that recipe and worked really really well it's been abt a week and a half and by now my scalp would have a lil bit of buildup by now but so far there's none
