I am in total agreement with a majority of your commenters that "Defying Gravity" is a definite must on Morissette's Broadway tour. I have read on YT several vocal coach reactors who feel this is on par with Idina and one or two who said better than. I think they come from two different angles and that to be assessed against each other is not fair. Idina set the standard for anyone to be compared to and just getting mentioned in the same breath should be good enough. Now for all of the Broadway vocal coach snobs who say her cries and her growls don't belong in a production I say take that stick out of your whatever. I have seen many a musical where if this is thoughtfully done could really show anger , frustration, sadness, and frustration better than just singing a pretty song. I thought this is why we go see plays and musicals. I look forward to your next reaction and as always BE WELL.
P.S. I didn't talk about the power house that is Morissette because anyone who knows her knows that she is one of the best voices on the planet and if you don't then listen to her catalogue and let her convince you.

Versatile is the word for Mori. She can truly do it all and in the most genuine but so damn good Morisette kind of way. She is technically flawless but the main thing that makes her stand out and rise above the rest is the way she brings out the emotions out if a song. I always say this, you do no JUST listen to Morisette ut you experience her. She just makes you feel the feels.

Is she good enough for Broadway? Is Broadway good enough for Morisette. Mori lives the lyrics and or relives past experiences during her performances. She delivers emotion that has broken me down more than once. A music lover for 60 years, no performer has touched me like Morisette. Love her to death and I will see her live even if I have to travel to the Philippines. I loved your analysis. You get it.
I'm 76 and feel the same way - no singer has affected me the way she has. I now have a hard time listening to any other singer, because they're just not as good.
At the same session Morissette sang a half dozen show tunes, giving her adorable commentary. She sings the crap out of "Defying Gravity". I have no doubt that she would be a hit on Broadway. Compare that with her recent Bruno Mars medley, and you have an amazingly versatile artist.

Morissette is a very rare artist in todays music industry. I don’t know any pop/R&B singers currently that can sing other genres like her. Her versatility in her voice makes her one of the best singers in the world right now! 👍
