அப்ப எல்லாம் மவுண்ட் ரோடு போனா கண்டிப்பா ஏதாவது ஒரு படம் பார்த்து விட்டு வரலாம்.அவ்வளவு திரைஅரங்குகள்.நான் தொடர்ந்து காலை,மதியம்,மாலைன்னு மூணு காட்சிகள் பார்த்து இருக்கேன். அலங்கார் தியேட்டரில் அப்ப எல்லாம் jackie chan,samo hung படங்கள் ரிலீஸ் பண்ணுவாங்க.எப்பவும் housefull காட்சிகள் தான்.அப்புறம் gaiety'யில் முழுக்க மேட்டர் படங்கள்.நண்பர்கள் கூட வாராவாரம் நைட் ஷோ போய்டுவோம்.three way love ன்னு ஒரு ஆங்கில படம் சக்க போடு போட்டுச்சு.gaiety பக்கத்தில் கூவத்துக்கு அந்த பக்கம் சித்ரா திரை அரங்கு இருந்தது.அப்படியே தேவிக்கு அந்த பக்கம் இப்ப இருக்கும் மெட்ரோ கிளப் உள்ள ஒரு தியேட்டர் இருந்துச்சு(பெயர் ஞாபகம் இல்ல).ஆனந்த தியேட்டரிலும் போக போக மேட்டர் படங்கள் போட ஆரம்பிச்சிட்டாங்க.அதன் பிறகு அதை கொஞ்சம் கொஞ்சமா மூடிட்டாங்க.புது படங்கள் திரை அரங்குகளில் பார்த்தால் தான் உண்டு.அப்புறம் தான் சன் டிவி எல்லாம் பிரபலம் ஆகா ஆரம்பிச்சு புது படங்கள் பண்டிகை நாட்களில் போட ஆரம்பிச்சாங்க.பிறகு திருட்டு cassette எல்லாம் வர ஆரம்பிச்சது.ஒரு காலத்தில் தியேட்டரே கதின்னு இருந்தேன்.அருமையான நாட்கள். இப்ப என்னடானா தியேட்டர் போய் படம் பார்க்கவே பிடிக்கல.
சரியாக சொன்னீர்கள். மறக்க முடியாத நாட்கள். காமதேனு, கபாலி நெறய படம் பார்த்து உள்ளேன்

Thanks for bringing back my happy memories.some of the movies are அக்னி நட்சத்திரம், வருஷம் 16, most of the sivajis films of 80's , மௌனம் சம்மதம், மௌனராகம், கிழக்கு வாசல், uttama புருசன், ஓமர் mukhtar ,quamat se quamat tak, ..etc. nice sharing keep rocking. I saw films in all the cheaters in Chennai.

Wow fantastic video. . My movie experiences are mostly in Thiruvotriyur high road (Raghavendra, Venkateshware, Odean Mani, Manickam, Thangam, Agasthiya, Maharani ) Sadly None of the theatres are existing now. Particularly Raghavendra and Agasthiya used to be very poplular due to their association with Super star. They played every single movie of Rajini from start of his career. Out side TH road, my memories are mainly with Albert, Baby albert, Anand little anand, Devi complex, Shanti, Ega Anu Ega, Gaiety, Melody, Jayaprada(Raj). During school at TH road We cut the classes and go far away to mount road for watching movies also to avoid get caught by local known people. I still remember watching Idhayam in 1991 at Devibala where college students used to flock the theatre. Chembaruthi 1992 in alanakar exclusively filled with teenage crowd. There were couple of other century old theatres Minerva ( Near present day beach station) and Mint Murugan !!! which was famous for NON Feature films, used to be extremely popular with Youth crowd. Thanks for bringing back those nice memories Sir.
I was studying in Hindu High School Triplicane and used to bunk classes and go 11.30 AM show at Plaza, Wellington, Paragon, Chithra, Pilot, Kamadenu. Kbali theatre Mandaveli. Watched lot of Jai Shankar movie Enga Patten Soththu, Thunive Thunai etc. Once I Was caught by my mother and sent me to Dubai to be with my father in 1979. Nice memories you have shared. You refreshed my School days. It was fun those days specially, Kaththadi, Bambaram, Goli, Seven Tails, Tennis ball Cricket, Gilli Dhanda etc were seasonal games. Stayed at P&T Colony Royapettah. Stay connected my dear friend. We have lot of things in common.

Coming back to movies,, i remember watching thunive thunai during a second release, Oh man,, that first 30 mins will be crazy ..that suspense and fear took the hell out of me. In Triplicane High Road, There was a Theater called Star Talkies, where Hindi Films were run during later 70s. I saw movies like Nalla Neram, Mugaraasi, Velaikkaran etc during 1980s

Sri raghvendra in sayani...old but golden days..never to come...royal and nathamuni theatre.. royal is now ags cinemas.. not sure about nathamuni

Paragon initially released 1st round new filims. I have seen so many MGT Nd Shivaji films like Puthiya Paravai and Arasakattali etc. Very good theatre in front of Kalaivanar Arangam. Due to new theatre arrival near by area it's revenue become less. Lastly it demolishef and constructed flats.

I was in chennai from 1977 may to 1985 December. Almost seen films in all theatres including Minerva & New Elphinston. Nearby Anna statue during 1977. Now all theatres gone. Sayani and sun rajakumari Pondy bazaar also (very good aircondition). Even shanthi theatre also very nice a.c. facility i have seen MAA ( hema Malini )in 78.
