Idk if it’s planned, but the timing of the bells is perfect.
how would that be planned? he paid off the clock? he staged that entire 11 minute monologue to peak RIGHT on time?
no my friend, I think that's just another weird, wonderful moment captured forever on digital film. pretty great, eh?
"Make sure they're not virgins until 35... that's how wars start" Haha hes talking about hitler.
As a joke I get it but plenty of sociopaths and psychopaths are promiscuous.
Constantly bringing him up on shit that has nothing to do with him...weirdos
@@semiramisbonaparte1627 This comment was explaining a joke in the video. It's not out of nowhere. The joke itself is somewhat flawed in that plenty of older virigins have no issues at all and plenty of sociopaths and psychopaths are promiscuous but as someone who analyzes comedy like that, it's needlessly boring. The issue with this extremely off-hand joke shouldn't be that it's a hitler reference, I think that part was lost on a lot of people (it was on me until I saw this thread).
@@KoreaMojo I'm no psychologist but I remember an AMA with someone claiming to be a "real life psychopath" and the subject of sex came up. He said he honestly had no sex drive, couldn't care less. He had a boyfriend and said it was, in more polite terms, an enjoyable sensation to sleep with him but he didn't crave it like normal people. I got the impression from that and some other comments it's a known thing with psychos. But again, the whole of my knowledge on the subject comes from a reddit thread.
"She's up there to this very day" (points at actual naked lady on the balcony)
“We’re very luck this isn’t how it works anymore” you could say that about anything
I don't know, getting a third of all days in the year off for religious holidays was one thing english medievals peasants had over us.
I used to live in a building in London where one of the Jack the Ripper murders happened. Was pretty weird opening the door to "and this is where the body was found" and stepping over the imaginary body out of "respect" as the whole group paused.
You're a good historian, my man. Entertaining and informative. I got a degree in history, but I don't have the talent you do. Always enjoy your work!
@han solo Yea, same here. I'm not particularly entertaining, more of an annoying pedant in a lot of ways.
I'd like to think that Julie's ghost infects the souls of the tenants of the apartment where she used to live, and when the occasion is right, she forces them to get naked on the roof until death, or the cops, drag them away.
Thank you for confirming this story that for years I tried to uncover after hearing it once in New Orleans when I was 15. I love your videos.
Props to us Mixed folks!!!!! I really am enjoying your channel and you, Thank you for sharing, can't wait to what else you got!
I have been married a long time. Very happy. I learned a very long time ago never ever listen to the first thing that pops into a mans head. This also starts wars.
Shei's ability to one take a story like this is pretty impressive
Seems rather harsh to evict the lady for just playing along with the story. It would seem tourists can be ungrateful bastards.
"...staying virgin untill 35, thats how wars start."
I feel like I’m in a tour! Thanks. They really help brighten up my quarantine!
That girl at the 8 minute mark looking like she wanted to placage you.
@@LordVader1094 turned at looked at our fine white thin fellow with eyes that stated shes was hungry for a thin healthy Snacc! Lol
Nah he's talking to a hidden camera so it looks like he's talking to himself
Thanks for the videos - you are a great storyteller!! Just found you on CZcams. Headed to NOLA in a couple of weeks. Can’t wait.
I'm subscribing for the next chapter of the Lady Wallingsford saga.
😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍bravo ! Another great one man . Your videos get better and better! Loved that folktale. ⚜⚜⚜⚜⚜⚜⚜⚜⚜⚜⚜⚜⚜⚜⚜
imagine getting so fed up that you sit naked on your roof then end up getting evicted :( like damn she a legend I woulda given her a new place to live if I lived in nola
Wow that hilarious tale at the end took a sadly dark all-american turn (naked lady on the roof, taken down by force etc)
That's a fantastic story, though I think I might have congratulated Modern Day Rooftop Naked Lady because that is an absolute Power Move...
Great videos! I’m from Metairie, and I love New Orleans history 😍 I also love how you threw in the “this is a Christmas story, much like Die Hard...” 😄
Excellent timing with the story and the bells
So much nostalgia! I love New Orleans. It has all the things that meet my criteria for a great city-history, food, shopping, and ghosts. Have heard many ghost stories from New Orleans, but not this one! It's great. Your tie is super cute too. Thank you!
I love all you tell the ghost stories. Keep it up you are a true story teller.
It's okay. Arthur Morgan exercised her spirit just north of Largas.
You are AMAZING! Always a pleasure. Signed, a fan from natchitoches ❤️❤️
I love this channel. Glad to see truth stories
The three people who disliked are Jean, Julie, and that naked lady
You got dowry the wrong way around; it's money that comes with the bride, given to her new husband from her parents, not to her parents in exchange for her. I like your English accent though.
@Kimmminem West What's done in Africa is bride price, not dowry
Potayto potaato. In Africa, dowry is often used to mean bride price. It's a common way to use the word
Dowry in my country means the price you'd pay to the bride's parents to marry her, so the word is applicable to both
How tragic, that a lovers quarrel too often leads to such an outcome.
Love your content!
I just imagine touring around New Orleans and hearing "hmmmmm is she fertile" in the most stereotypical predator voice I have ever heard.
subscribed your story telling is delightfully chaotic
Your page is a national treasure dude!
You are a good story teller. Thank you.
I didn't know it got that cold down there
Man, I would pay a million dollars for one of your city tours.
Well done. Thank you.
I just found your channel. Love this story and love Pirates Alley. You look great in Pink and Black.
7:07 is that a Red Letter Media reference?
Outstanding content, as always.
You may not have noticed all the RLM references in this channel, *but your brain did*
7:45 I seem to remember hearing in a podcast that Germanic tribes during the roman era shared this custom-- romans themselves did not-- and those among them who ended up in roman society Would Just Sorta Do That and be a Huge Nuisance. extremely funny stuff
You're so well focused in this video that I thought it was green screen
That was a great story!
WHOA. _big_ time look-back at 7:58! what a lovely moment. what a shining smile. man. magical moment captured, right there.
The bells at the end were right on time.
PERFECTLY TIMED BELL
Do a video on A Confederacy of Dunces, I think you'd be one of the most suitable people to talk about i!
YOU ARE JUST CUTE AS A BUTTON.
That's a great story.
Love your pink skeleton tie! Looks good with the black shirt as well.
My mans come walkin' up with the fit, drippy af
I am sad for the other lady too.
There is a similar guest who would not leave tale between Charles Dickens and Han Christian Anderson who mooched off of Dickens and his wife for several months.
Knowing Hans Christian Anderson, he probably left a gallon of spooge in the sheets from their guest room, too
This is kinda like a New Orleans Lindybeige video, and i kinda like that.
Imagine being a fan of a franchise that only has 1 ring throughout its entire history. Couldn’t be me.
I actually went by that spot on a tour, got pics of the building & everything.
Heck yeah brother, that is my kind of ghost.
The ghost in the background had a sexy back. And the story doesn't surprise me.
The system sure did suck for black men who fell in love with these young mixed-race girls. They genuinely had no chance compared to rich white men.
There were actually laws forbidding them from marrying those women!!
That story is messed up, and the timing of the church bells was perfect.
The ending kill me 😂
Is this really true? Because it just sounds like a variation of the Lady Godiva story.
Well I mean, for what it's worth, the Lady Godiva story is a blatantly false folktale as well.
Furthermore, it's a folktale that ends with a ghost, so you can certainly take it with a grave of salt.
Damn the bells were on point, what a coincidence
"Christmas story like Die Hard".....you should have a primetime show on cable....
More of these
I wish I could give Dylan a second thumbs up
I took that your many years ago and we were taken to a bookstore below “the apartment” and told the Julie story. Was that a tourist trap? It was my 2nd time in NOLA. At least the first time a homeless guy told us where Anne Rice lived and we actually got to meet her chauffeur and her- amazing lady!
I heard a way different version on tv many many years ago. She wasnt black, she was mixed and you can still see her ghost wearing a yellow dress in certain areas. I'm sure there's a variety of stories online like this.
I have only ever been to New Orleans in December. I am under the impression that it is a cold place.
"Make sure they're not virgins until 35... that's how wars start" that's probably the reason why the Viking age started
A very late answer, but one theory of viking voyages and raiding actually is lack of marriageable women in Scandinavia since tribal chieftains and notable men would often take several concubines (custom they continued until early Nordic Christianity). One piece of evidence for it is genetics of Iceland, most of it's population has Celtic female ancestors which suggests that the vikings who settled Iceland brought Celtic slave girls abducted from Britain with them.
A love story between two people. Thats generally how they go. Though. These days. You never know. Hahaha amazing. You sir. Arw becoming my hero.
2:24
Those people walking by were probably just like "what the fuck is this guy mental?"
Beautiful story of forbidden love and a naked ghost.😂
At the beginning there 0:01 , I thought you were going to say “I love refrigerators“
2:51 that act may not be funny but the imitation was class
Was it really 2am when you recorded this
I wanna move to N.O now
2:20 I would have never said that with people behind me in a Echoing place Lmao, good on you man.
Had me in the first half ngl
Your tie is cool.
Go Dylan!!
Lmao that accent at the end 😫🤣 like where did that come from 👀
I paused it to read this comment, and unpaused it for it to start
Here for the Shakespeare in Love quoting.
What's the song at the end of this video?
11:18 Happy Holidays everybody!😲
bye also i liked and subscribed and put the notifications
That place was once a place that gave tea leaf readings. Everyone in the Quarter knows the story and most have seen Julies’ ghost. She likes to mess with the phones!
I grew up in New Orleans and lived there for 42 years and never heard that story.
Good job make us all feel guilty just after making us laugh at 2:50.
2:20 imagine just walking through new orleans together and you hear this weird dude talking into a camera going "Oh yES LoRD WallINGSfoRD ShE wILl BreED"
I’d probably continue the joke while walking bye
Now I'm hearing that old maroon 5 song:
🎶She wiiiiilll be looooved🎶
But, ya know.. bred. And in that accent.
I'd probably assume they were talking about a mare, or some other animal
Those people walking closer caused me massive anxiety.
It's New Orleans people just mind their business💀
