- Vicks is partnering with Mission Australia and Coles to help people experiencing homelessness in Australia.
We, at Vicks, believe that everyone deserves the #TouchOfCare, especially those who have been brought down by life’s hardships. Because a single person who cares can be the support you need to lift yourself up.
This is the true story of how the #TouchOfCare has helped a once homeless girl turn her life around and find the courage to care for others.

Best actor in the world, and the most Beautiful.
This "Ad" is very well done.
It shows great insight and gives a snapshot of how, bit by bit, things can go from one thing to another.
So emotional!
Hi all, I never watch long adds on post, but this one I took time out to watch. This add is reality .... if you don't want to give $$ to homeless person take time out to buy some food or just say hi ..
Yes I practice what I preach..
Very touching..!
Touching, heartful behaviour. Literally cried.
Vicks Australia & NZ and rack up that fat stack
I was crying at how beautiful this is. I honestly believe it should have millions of views and be spread all over the internet. No matter whether it is an add or not this spreads such a deep message in such a simple form. Bringing us all to the reasoning that really there are people suffering all over Australia or even the world that suffer like this. But all we see them as, is invisible. No one knows everyone’s stories so we need to be more caring.
Yes, justifying misandry is such a deep message. Like conveniently ignoring who the majority victims of homelessness are.
proctor and gamble are at it again.....
This was very well done. As a young teenager going through a mental stage, this was easy to relate to. To anyone reading this, *you* matter. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
As someone who was kicked out of home at the age of 14, and throughout my teens, had myself a hard road to travel down... even though i was moving around constantly - on the streets, from one emergency house to another, couch surfing and wearing down friendship because them and their parents just didn't understand... even after failing courses in school over and over, i still stuck to it in hopes that things may just one day get better. Paying for myself both in high school and TAFE, i would eventually find myself work, i would eventually make new friends, i would eventually get passed being angry at what cards i was handed in life.
I'm now 31 years old and I've never had a stable home. I've lived in houses for a few days, to a maximum of 2 years. After the life i've led and have tried to keep on track, i've learnt much, both about myself and the world around me... but i'm no genius, and that's ok. I've been with my partner for almost 2 years now and i'm gradually working things out as time goes on. I'm not dead yet.
Drug and alcohol users are given significantly more help than mental health and homeless sufferers. The world is a cruel and unforgiving place, and even though i should hate everyone and everything... i simply don't. No matter how much you cry and scream, nobody will hear you unless you get their attention in a way that doesn't seem hostile or unworthy of their time. Therefore, I try, everyday, to make atleast one person smile. If i'm gonna be around for a while, i may as well try to put some happiness back into the world, because as far as i can tell, everyone seems to be just out for themselves. And that might be the case, but are you a sheep, or...?
Yes, what you're reading might not be so soft and fluffy, but atleast i'm being real and not blinding you with propaganda to make you hate your neighbour for the most insignificant crap. People are people. Love them or hate them, the choice is yours... so why not compremise and merely learn to live with them. Intolerance is what f**ked us humans up in the first place... and as time repeats itself, is once again creating a further divide between us all so that the needs of the few can be sorted out by the voices of the many.
So, say hi to your neighbour. Have disagreements while creating a productive debate. Peacefully accept and tolerate that people will have opposing views to your own. Use your words and not your fists. Insecruities may suck, and hurt a shitload... but they'll always remind you that you're still human. So be a human - find your flaws and accept them as being apart of you. Embrace those flaws and build your resilience. And no matter how weird you think you might be... keep in mind that some of the wierdest people are usually the most creative.
The message in this ad is simple - ears are good for not only not making your head look weird without them, but letting others know that you actually use your ears for more than hearing your own voice.
Curious thought - I wonder what the fathers backstory is, why he's so testy, and how he got that way.
I wrote all of this for a bloody VICKS commercial revolved around homelessness. Why? Idk :)
P.s. - movie recommendation; 'The Lookout'. This has nothing to do with VICKS, but neither did this ad.
Underestimate the power of compassion at your own peril... quite literally too. Incredibly moving and inspiring story. Thank you for sharing.
Omg I loved the ending! 😭❤️
me too 💙
Vicks Australia & NZ Hi! I just wanted to say this is absolutely amazing. I’m absolutely interested in helping people and after watching this video, I have taken consideration into studying community services. Sarah, your story is astronomical! Thank you for sharing. :)
I see proctor and gamble are at it again. .....
Probably the an ad with the most Humble and optimist in my opinion
DAMN VICKS!!! Ur vapo rub always made me feel comfortable during rainy days when I was sick and seeing this I can relate. After a falling out there’s always someone out there to trust. You just gotta keep moving until the one that cares can change your life with one thing. To care... don’t worry about gaining popularity about the ones that don’t care, stick with the ones that do.
Amazing, Message,
For myself, having no support; people presume so much without knowing almost anything.....this is some of what causes mental health.
Lots of men are bad, it can be the mother growing up abusive also along with co-workers causing it upon attempting to return to work...
The Mutz and I were homeless for a few years, now happy just living in the bush with my dogs, once every month or so go into a small town and try to do one thing for an animal in need.... accept my new life, invisible and forgotten by almost all.. to broken and disappointed with my “new” life to be able to change. All good, such is life.. 🇦🇺🐶🦘👍✌️
Great ad, thank you.. just wish it was really true, that people care... hay puppies always listen :-)
This video has inspired me I've seen homeless people in Melbourne but I've just walked right past them and not given them much attention but next time I'm in Melbourne and I see a homeless person I'll reach out and talk to them and let them know that if they want to talk I can listen
What the hell does this have to do with Vick's?
I saw this ad and it was so sad i love what vicks is doing and i hope something really good happennds to help homeless one day
I usually hate it when big corporations do big virtue signalling ads like this... but this seems like one of the rare cases when it's done right. Well done. I hope your contributions to Mission Australia can actually make a difference.
I watched the whole add. This was so heart-warming and sad. The end was so amazing. Everyone should be nice to homeless people instead of just walking past them.
Omg! Mrs. Jankers is the bomb queen.
Thank you for taking a stand on domestic violence and homelessness, using your brand to open the eyes of some to the predicaments of others
Julia Francis go actually look at the facts on homelessness. This is just another way of pushing the same narative as Gillette.
Jim Bob I have been homeless, our whole family were, my sons and myself, one of my sons even had a full time job. I'm not sure what you mean look at the figures, maybe up in the ivory towers the figures look 'small' but when you are the one who is homeless it feels significant
Julia Francis 75% of homeless are men. when was the last time you saw an ad for helping homeless men?
As per the 2017 personal safety survey men and women suffer interpartner violence and similar rates, yet only 1/3 reported cases are male victims though our government and society only care about female victims.
5/6 suicide victims are men, yet we aren't allowed to treat mental health as the gendered issue it is.
This ad continues the same narative that is throughout the media that men bad, women victim.
How many men's shelters are there? how many women's shelters?
Erin Pizzey is worth a look at. She was instrumental in setting up one of the first women's shelters in the UK.
67% of women surveyed had been violent towards their partner and a woman's history of IPV is as valid a predictor of her likelihood of future IPV as her partners history was.
Being homeless is terrible, though, like almost every other facit of life as a woman there is assistance, as a man you'd better drag yourself up by your bootlaces.
This ad talks about constantly being told your worthless - that's what we constantly tell our boys and men (especially the hideous government ads saying it starts with disrespect).
This ad is in the same vein as the gillette ad but they're trying a slightly different tack to achieve the same goal.
Anyway, thank you for taking the time to reply and I hope you and your family are doing far better than the period you described.
Have a good day.
You are clearly very passionate about this issue, maybe you work in this area. Just to be clear, I did not mention gender at all. In the city I used to live in while my family were homeless there were shelters for men but none for women. I'm not sure why you are attacking me, a disabled person with a disabled son with the whole family being homeless, seems rather cruel. We moved city five months ago to access housing but sadly the reason we can get a house here is because no one wants to live here as there are no jobs. Western society is falling apart. Please talk to your local member about your concerns, as the Abbott government removed all funding for womens' shelters and most have closed, you might like to bring that up. This feels like victim blaming, my life is tragic enough
Julia Francis, I've been trying to work out how to reply for two months.
The only thing I've come up with that I don't think can be reframed as an attack, yet still possibly get my point across is as follows.
Near me there is a shopping center that has a neon sign that says "we believe in girls". When was the last time you saw a positive message like that about boys in such a public setting?
Hope you are having a good day and are able to point out a great example.
Hi, this was a nice film. I just hope violence can end.
World peace my dude world peace
Heart-wrenching. Just shared on Facebook
Great add with a beautiful message but should have been a mission Australia add rather than a vicks
This is a very powerful ad, it sorta make me almost cry.
Something fishy is going on. 2.6 million views with just over 300 likes/dislikes and nearly every top-level comment is singing the praises of the ad.
Right? But I’d keep your suspicions to yourself, you know what the Vick’s boys do to dissenters? You don’t wanna end up in a vat of vapour rub...
metalnick Proctor and Gamble - need I say more? Same parent company as gillette......
I have been homeless so this really touches a heart string. Maybe the best people in this line of work are the people who have been there?
Well at least she was a help in the end and there amazing actors and an amazing meaning
Vicks Australia & NZ and thank you for this wonderfull ad
i love this ad,every friday my class has to an inspiration clip for the whole school to watch and it was my turn aaand i chose this
It was amazing but it feels like using others dread is a bit insulting but you do you.
Such a sad ad. At least it had a good ending.
Hi, I'm Japanese, watching CZcams in Sydney. I often wish if I could watch Japanese funny ad during video and I usual skip any ad cuz I had no interest for Australian ad. this is first ad which I watched whole story. I skipped several times at first and became curious, don't know why. Now I think Australian ad is great.
Doesn't have to be about Vicks, they are using their name to make people understand something they feel strongly about. As Randy Marsh would say "That's some GOD DAMN TEGRIDY".
This commercial really hits me. As an outsider, I don’t get why Australia has so many homeless people when it’s one of the richest countries in the world. The government is failing its people. No one is supposed to spend the cold night on streets.
I was so emotional
Wow
Vicks Australia & NZ question. Is there like a website or something i can like donate money for people like this?
Hi@@carlosfh04_gamesyt70, thank you for your compassion. We believe every Australian deserves a safe place to call home and are proud to partner with Vicks to share this important message. To assist people like Sarah, you can donate to our Winter appeal here: www.missionaustralia.com.au/helpthiswinter Best wishes, Mission Australia
in Sydney i saw alot of homeless people. at least 15. I saw 15 people in atleast a week. it was so sad and upsetting.
0:40 that's my brother
Really?
Tl/Dr; if you are EVER in the position to help someone then PLEASE DO IT!!! Pay it forward style.
This reminds me of the ReMoved mini series especially with that ending.
WE ALL CAN HELP OTHERS!!! Some differently than others but we CAN ALL DO SOME THING!!!
Even if that's giving someone a listening ear, buying them a coffee, sitting with them. Every little bit counts. And while you may not think it's enough, if that act of kindness gives someone even the tiniest spark of hope it WILL Help them. Sometimes, a kind word from someone or a kind gesture can give you enough to keep you going until you are able to seek help. Like when I was at my worst and someone would choose to sit with me, get me a hot chocolate, some smokes and most importantly listen. It made me, for that moment at least, believe "maybe the whole world is NOT completely fucked... Maybe someone DOES care... Maybe I AM worth something..."
That hope is what many have given me over the years with their basic kindness, respect, compassion, empathy etc. They helped me a LOT in that moment.
And that's why, when a few months ago a young girl in her pyjamas, with hospital bands on her wrists, arm bandaged and belongings in a plastic "Patient belongings" bag got onto the tram near the hospital and bawled her eyes out on the phone to people begging for help to get money for her meds that I got some money and rolled a smoke and gave them to her. Because that girl was me, maybe she's gone through different stuff to get to where she was then, but in that moment I saw the desperate pleading for the pain to just stop in her eyes and I couldn't turn away. I HAD to help in the small way that I could. I just hope that it was enough to get her through the night so she could get the help she needs and deserves. We ALL dexerve that basic respect. There's always something that we can do to help. Maybe we can't magically fix it, but we CAN do what little is possible in that moment.
Please, PLEASE Just do what you can, as that small act of genuine kindness WILL create a positive ripple into the world & universe. And ALWAYS tell the person you help if they offer to pay you back that instead of paying you back, they pay it forward whenever, wherever & however they can in the future. One day they will see someome and know 'this is the person I am meant to help' and then they can tell that person to pay it forward too.
This is the most intense Vicks ad Ive ever seen. Sa'bit different to the old kid lying in bed with a cold while mum rubs it on his chest ad.
Good message though. Onya...
0:06
0:09 Is it just me or do they use the same sound effect
Duck Boy yep. typical proctor and gamble is about hating men so they'll double down in any way they can.
boycott p&g
Great job vicks team, who played Sarah in this advertising
They don’t care about you, they wouldn’t have made this ad if they didn’t think it was the most effective way to sell nose spray.
Umey IT’S PEOPLE CARING ABOUT OTHERS instead of spreading a “toxic message” (Bad Gillette ad)
When your sick on any way, people help out!!!
THIS IS THE MESSAGE!!!!!???!!! HOW DID YOU NOT THINK THIS VIDEO HAS A SIMPLE MESSAGE BEHIND THE SCENES!!!???!!! PLUS THE HOMELESSNESS PART IS A REAL THING!???!! THIS IS THE MESSAGE!!!???!!!!!!!!!!
TO HELP OUT
Squicx you good there buddy
@@hex9077 probably. I dunno
@@Squicx Yeah, it's great to see an ad where all the men aren't 'toxic' and all the women aren't the victims or the compassionate heroes...
First ad I’ve actually watched coz I can relate. Amazing & powerful - well done 👍🏾 There can always be light at the end of a dark tunnel if you’re lucky enough.
Im going to homeless people give them home
It make me sad and pooor😭😭😭😭😭
This is how you make an Ad with a good message GILLETTE!
Stop making me have flashbacks of my dad you meanie
Just click off the ad
Well now I'm just depressed
This ad hits a little too close to home :(
@@VicksAusNZ thank you Sarah. :) and by the way, don't let the trolls bite. It was a very hard hitting video, which in this case is a good thing. Don't feed the trolls.. :) this is a good thing that had been done for all...
No joke this is my life an I’m 11
Sarah, who played the father?
It's like one of those Asian commercials... haha... but well done.
Hahaha this is an ad for Vicks vaporub. My dude, what the fuck? Peak consumerist hellscape
What the fuck does this have to do with me breathing correctly?
Hey guys, Vicks is bad for black eyes.
Uhhh this doesn’t relate to vicks...... but still very nice 👍
Relevant topic, just loses credibility with the anti male bias . Same feminist film maker as the Gillette ad i guess. Until family violence is treated as an ungendered issue, nothing will be achieved. Boycott all p&g products. #get woke go broke
Good message though unrelated to Vicks.
:(
Seriously, enough with this "woke corporation" shit already, nobody's buying it. Vicks, soon to become the next Gilette. Like the other person said, you need to make a version of this ad where the man isn't the violent one. Most homeless people are men!
This is so stupid LMAO you are selling cough medicine, Im sick of these huge companies talking about topics like this for an extra kick in sales.
?You mean that you are sick of people changing and trying to make the world a better place? Well that makes a-lot of sense...
They are partnering with mission australia
@@Qiqiskiii yeah but why wouldnt they partner with some kind of medicine distribution company instead, like healing 3rd world countries, that would just make way more sense.
Your arrogance is beyond stupidity, maybe think twice before commenting such thing. This isn’t an ad about their medicine, mission support is a specific community working towards helping people, especially the homeless, in other words they are basically sponsored by Vick’s, though THE AD HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE MEDICINE AND THEY AREN’T TRYING TO MAKE IT ABOUT THE MEDICINE. They are spreading awareness. Of course some ignorant shit hole like you wouldn’t understand, but I hope you do.
@@catastropheyuh2609 OK Mr scary roblox man
I appreciate that vicks is trying to tell a story, but it would be helpful to add a trigger warning. This ad came on before a video so I had no idea what it was and now I’m going to be panicking for the rest of the night... I know it might ruin the aesthetic to put a small warning in the corner, but I’m more likely to buy your product if thinking about it doesn’t make me want to cry.
Trigger warnings do not work. Good luck with whatever is troubling you.
No maybe you jus Mr need to have thicker skin & toughen up. Triggered warnings how ridiculous. I've had major anxiety issues in the past and panick attacks and over the years I've over come it. & grew & learnt what I've had to . To get on top of it. So I do understand . But trigger warnings are ridiculous. They would create a society that is too sensitive and easily offended. Living without trigger warnings means you've just gotta develop thicker skin and toughen up.
gamzee makara ..... except they do..... trigger warnings do help me prepare for a trigger.... thankyou for the luck ♡
This isn’t really an ad. It’s more of an awareness. Mission Australia and Vick’s are partnering. Mission Australia is basically a company assisting homeless people, etc. Vick’s is raising awareness. The whole point is to make someone feel emotional 🤷♂️ But then again if you’re triggered, just note that people are actually out there suffering. Don’t think too much about it ❤️
Vicks Australia & NZ Woa thankyou so much!!! ♡ ♡
When nose spray goes woke lmao. Must have hired the same people Gilette did. Too much one sided narrative in this for an ad. Stick to stopping my nose from running and keep your good deeds in the background, seems like you want money from tragic narratives. Pretty disgusting really.
And yes the Gillette ad was bloody terrible just so you don’t think I’m on the toxic woke side
How's this woke? What's the other side of the narrative? If it spreads awareness about the homeless then it's alright.
yeah but what if u dont need soene to listen, u need a place to lvie thats livable , not so noisey u cant live
