  • A photo walk in the Peak District with 35mm film and Medium Format. I set out just after dawn to climb Win Hill and get some summer snaps to keep my eye in on one of Northern England's all too rare days of sun. In my bag is Fuji 200 and Kentmere 400, filters, a mini-tripod...and a bag of sandwiches!
If you want to visit Win Hill then it's accessible by train from Manchester and Sheffield. There are usually services every hour or so. By car - using the A6187 road - it is about 17 miles from Sheffield and 30 miles from Manchester. There is a local bus service (check times) and there are camp/caravan sites nearby. There is a YHA in Castleton and a number of pubs and guest houses in the area. Hope is in the Peak National Park. More information can be found at visitpeakdistr...

What a beautiful part of the world. The RB67 takes up most of the weight. Thanks for the video.

Hello, Rather interesting to find your site. My name is also Swinden, I'm Stuart and a long time ago I earned a living with my camera, over just a few years, this was back in the days of film only. Now rather old I still play at photography but as I am not very mobile I mostly photograph dead bluebottles and moths. I will now go back and watch your video as I only watched the first few minutes before braking off to pen this. All the best.

      Hello Stuart,
Good to hear from a fellow Swinden...there aren't that many of us about! Are your roots Yorkshire by any chance? Mine are. Sorry to hear you have mobility problems...it must be frustrating not to be able to get about as much as in the past. Dead bluebottles and wasps is quite a niche to have found though...in all seriousness it strikes me there might be a good project or two in that subject. Hope you enjoyed the rest of the video.
Very best wishes, Ed (Swinden) ;-)

@@studioswinden Hello Ed, Thank you for your reply, As you say, not many of us and very thinly spread around. My roots are London and then Staffordshire but before I handed over my family history searching to my daughter, I did find, many generations back, a couple of direct line ancestors selling off a Swinden Coal mine in, "I am fairly sure" Yorkshire! Regret I cannot check immediately as the current software that the records are on will not run on my Mac Laptop. Re poor mobility, just unfortunately a side effect of growing old. Changing now to cameras, my favourite ever, Pentax 6x7. Catching up on your video's, so keep producing them. All the best, Stuart.
