Struggling with this, and being "atypical" , I also have weight to lose, for my joints. I'm also 60 years old with multiple medical issues that require knowing some nutritional info and my weight, to make adjustments with medications and food options. I've recently gained 20 pounds which has been horrible. Dietician and therapist (who is internationally known for ED treatment) both tell me to eat more all the time, and to make sure to get the protein "allowance" (for kidney disease) in. Because of another medical issue, I can't have a lot of protein rich foods, so am essentially forced into vegetarianism (not the worst thing, but I used to eat meat, fish, poultry) with cheese, kefir, yogurt, and whey protein isolate being the safest, but I'm also sick of them. I'm almost 2 years 'in' this time, with getting help- and it's definitely been the worst in terms of just getting on with it.
Hi there, I am so sorry you're going through all of this! I completely understand that it's terrifying and hard to endure! I would try to trust your dietician and therapist, they seem to have a lot of knowledge and I know from experience, that not eating enough might just extend things. I always advise people to try to eat everything they crave in recovery, without looking at macros. At the same time it can be very hard if you have medical conditions! I will make a video about that soon, but it's always worth trying to find comfort foods that feel safe and good to you, not to the ED!
that poor person doesn't realize that she's still restricting and that that's making things take way longer. hope she got that message
