Yiruma's River Flows in You, another one of the most requested pieces to be performed on this channel, and another thank you to you all for being here on this pianistic journey. Although this piece is a stark contrast to the intensity and excitement of the 3rd Movement of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata from last week, it is one that can really make you think. Especially with how the piece ends there is one word I feel most accurately describes the work: bittersweet. And although it's a Monday, I hope this piece can bring a pleasant start to your week :)
Sometimes a song comes a long and absolutely speaks to your heart and soul. This song speaks to me on that level. I can play a simplified version of it (working towards the full version one day) and my fingers just glide across the keyboard. It’s truly a healing experience.
Hearing this song, River Flows in You, brings back high school, holding my child for the first time, my first kiss, learning to ride a bike, my first touchdown pass, the first time I saw the Grand Canyon, my first breakup, the death of my grandparents, walking through their cemetery, my child's first steps, the first time I saw the ocean, the first time I saw the Roman forum. This song is a timeless memory, a memory of all memories. This is the modern Pachelbel's Canon. When I got married I hadn't heard this song, but looking back over my life, that would have been the most appropriate time for this song. Actually, any special moment in your life is the perfect time for this song. I want it someday at my funeral right after Ave Maria., River Flows in You is that good.
Thank for expressing my feelings 🥺🥺, but thank god i play piano from over 4 years and i know how to play this song, just one more note, if you dont have friends, music will be equal to a thousand friends, and believe me i am telling you this from a personal experience especially this song it will give you the boost to continue your life even with the most hard mental problem to all, and again thank you for this masterpiece
2 years ago, I started to learn piano and I heard my grand parents in their room saying that this song meant a lot to them. So from there, I tried so hard to learn this song. Tonight is my piano concert and they are coming. I wanted them to come because I'm going to play this song and I want to know that they are important to me. I'll try not to cry but it's so hard ahhhh.. Wish me luck ahahah ! update : I was so stressed when it was my turn to play on the piano, i was shaking and i started to play with so much stress. But then i was so into the song that the stress in me started to disappear a little bit ! i finished the song and i started to cry. Everyone was applauding me and i saw my grand parents looking at me so proudly and saying it ! thank you everyone for the likes and sweet comments ! i’m happy to be able to share my little story with you ! have a good day
As a young pianist I say that this piece is incredible because everything is always repeating, but every repeat is different It’s amazing because everyone hear and understand it in different ways But we all know what Yiruma meant is indescribable by words ‘Cause why we need words if we have music ❤
One of the most peaceful and heartbreaking contemporary pieces I have ever heard. This piece is so romantic that you can imagine such things as falling in love or marriage. But the ending made me amazed. A very interesting aspect of this piece. Great playing!
I adore Yiruma for this piece. It brings peace to my soul where my soul could have never rested. The way the fingers dance on the keys is intoxicating.... It pays tribute that I never could to my little brother whom served the United States Army with his mind, body and soul. May he be victorious in battles to come.
I love this song. I listened to it a lot when I was going through loss of a horse that really was my soulmate. She was my world. I always vented to her when I had a bad day and she always comforted me. Now I'm listening to it to bring peace to my soul while I'm seething with anger at my brother for stupid stuff he's doing and going through mourning a friend distancing herself from me for having different opinions and she doesn't want to be "close" friends anymore. Just friends.... she's been one of my best friends for years and it hurts so bad. But this song has always brought me a sense of peace and relaxation ❤

This song reminds me of the bittersweet times in my life. Enjoying great times with people who are no longer here. Past relationships that didn't pan out but great times were still had. And the thought of losing the ones that I love. It just makes me cry big ugly tears every time I hear this song. Thank you for playing it.
I heard this song ages ago and didn’t know the name, went on a hunt for it for months, then forgot. Around a whole year later, I heard a classmate playing it on the piano in our school. I’m so happy!
One day in a cafeteria, there's this keyboard a bit far away from the crowd, someone left it there probably because they're about to return it later after they eat. It was for a drama musical practice. i was sitting with my friends on the cafeteria, it was crowded like usual, everyone was eating, talking and laughing. Suddenly, a girl with high ponytail went into the keyboard and stand behind it. She then played this melody that i have never heard before. It was beautiful. Very beautiful and touching. Everyone who usually doesnt care about their surroundings, was paying attention to her. The cafeteria slowly becomes quiet. It was the first time the cafeteria was this silence and peaceful. It was really amazing. The girl was so confident and plays the keyboard as if she's in a trance. She looks very genuine. I was speechless. After she finished, people clapped really hard and praise her. It was a moment i will never forget in my entire life. It was really amazing, i could have broken into tears that day. I gathered my courage one day and ask her about the song she played, it was this masterpiece. If i hear this again, i always remember that day. It was a beautiful day.

as a pianist I hate this piece because of hearing it literally everywhere and how easy it is EDIT: lmao the sheer amount of people I've pissed off because I have an opinion is hilarious. First of all, PEOPLE CAN HAVE OPINIONS, if you don't like my opinion I really don't care, cry about it lol. Second, I never claimed to be an oh-so-great pianist, but it doesn't mean I can't have an opinion. I know two friends who are greater pianists than me who agree that this piece is overplayed and they hate it. Even then, that's not a valid reason for me to hate it, but I still have a valid reason, I'm a person, with an opinion, and I am not afraid to express my opinion. One person couldn't come up with a good argument so they went to my content and told me I'm a "grown adult who plays Minecraft" solid argument there, keep it up 😂
I love this song, it's really incredible how it makes thoughts or feelings come to life. I love how, when I listen to it or recommend it to someone, they almost always love it. Honestly, I think it's because every note is a word, a memory, or a line of a poem.
I'm also in middle school, but the only recitals I've done at school were in elementary. Once I remember playing 'Deck the Halls' before Winter Break, but afterwards, when they were leaving music, some people were humming it or quietly singing. 🤣
This piece makes you feel nostalgic... Like going back down the memory lane, through something that's long forgotten, something that wasn't a highlight, but yet looking back at it, makes you feel happy. I love it so much!!!!
We moved to a new city and my son, who had been playing piano for a while, was given this song as his first song by his new piano teacher. I really love this song and it brings back memories ❤
This song says overcoming loss, overcoming depression, overcoming abuse. It's a very beautiful song and my soul floated away from my body for a sec. It makes me remember all the good thoughts and throws the bad ones in the garbage.
I don't understand how it says overcoming depression but i feel on the edge of controlling my tears. I feel my throat is choking. Still I love to listen to this masterpiece.
Let's see how many likes it gets in 2021 - 2030. One decade can change everything. So here we go. For a new decade. Edit: We're all leaving behind comments for the future generations to know, to remember us, to keep in mind that we were here first. Here's to a new generation. We lived. We loved. We did. We've done everything we wanted, and it might have been more than we thought it would be. We were here.
Thank you so much for posting this was my sons favourite song he plays it everyday for our family to enjoy and now he got his wings a few months ago and now I will try to learn this song so someone can lay it and we will all remember my son❤❤❤
Many people say this song is overrated but I love it. It's so beautiful and evokes emotions in a way most piano pieces can't for me. I'd honestly love to learn to play this on the clarinet.
Sicco oh, hell there are! There are billions of words through and into this song. It is literally speaking to you in a literal way! That’s what I call "art"
This causes emotional pain. I don't know why. Maybe I need friends? I don't know. Do I need to go outside? I don't know.... All I remember is the day that my mom died. All there is I'm my mind. Was this song.
@@ALIEN695 We all have our losses, and the only this we can do is move forward. Suacide is only going to keep your mind on your brother in heaven. Getting over it will be better. I'm not good at explaining things, go see a therapist if you need to.
I’m so sorry dude. That must have been really painful. Haven’t really lose anyone in my life yet but I know it had to happened someday and I’ll be crying for weeks :( So I hope you’re doing okay! Keep moving on and fighting, I’ll be there for you!
This reminds me of my birth parents I remember them playing this for me before I was put for adoption this the only memory I have of them I can’t even remember what they looked like.
My sister used to play this on the piano after we played together when we were young, because she knew it reminded me of my favorite book series at the time. Now she’s in high school and anxious all the time, and whenever i hear this song, i always cry. My sister barely even talks to me, and when she does, she usually is just asking me where something is. This song brings back so much nostalgia and memories
Hey, I really hope your relationship with your sister improves, seems like you really miss her. Why don't you say this to her? Even if you say these words and change the anxious all the time to busier these days, I'm sure she'll see the emotion and care in the words and even if everything is not immediately fixed, at least she'll know what's in your heart and things will only get better. Sorry if I misunderstood but I felt the emotion in your words and I hope that void is filled once again in your life.
@@hasanjafri135 Thank you so much, for you kind words and advice. I found the courage earlier today to tell her how I felt and we decided to play together more again. You basically changed my entire relationship with my sister, and I can’t thank you enough. God bless you.
@@_Cragon_ Great to hear it. But you are selling yourself short. You found the courage yourself and where brave enough to make yourself vulnerable to your sister and you can be proud of it. Highschool is a though age you start to have responsibilities for the first time and you have to find out who you are and this might make you oblivious to the people around you. The most important thing is that you guys can keep talking about these things in a relaxed way and most of the time your relationship get's trough it. So hat off to you and keeping finding the courage to discuss things when you feel you need and you will have a great life.

The song is good, it's calm, it's a lullaby, good job

Yesterday, my music teacher (I'm in middle school) had me pay this for everyone. That was the first time someone ever told me they were proud of me.
I'm really happy for you!
I would love to hear you play it.
Good job. Performing is hard
I'm also in middle school, but the only recitals I've done at school were in elementary. Once I remember playing 'Deck the Halls' before Winter Break, but afterwards, when they were leaving music, some people were humming it or quietly singing. 🤣
I’m happy you played this wonderful piece and worked the courage to do so. Awesome job man!
So sweet to hear this masterpiece ❤ thank you for sharing 😊 i feel joy calmness and happiness when i hear it while working
Best song you can play on a piano ❤
This piece makes you feel nostalgic... Like going back down the memory lane, through something that's long forgotten, something that wasn't a highlight, but yet looking back at it, makes you feel happy. I love it so much!!!!

It brings back such good memories
This reminds me of my birth parents I remember them playing this for me before I was put for adoption this the only memory I have of them I can’t even remember what they looked like.
This brings back memories for me 🥲
Music is the only way to connect with many people. It's the so pure which connects with our souls. It gives you the reason for happiness and joy...❤❤
@@_Cragon_ man I’m so glad to hear that!!!
Good on you. Its not easy to make yourself vulnerable like that. I guess that's the power of music!
