    Milk” is a biographical film based on Harvey Milk, the first openly gay person elected to public office in America. After a successful election to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1977, Milk became an icon within the LGBT community.
    The film was originally released in 2008, when it won two Academy Awards, including Best Original Screenplay for Black. The film is being screened on June 7 as a part of the 15th anniversary celebrations for the film company Focus Features, and as a celebration of Pride Month.
