Great jingle. I was once told that the instrumental master for the "Sono-waltz" had disappeared. Obviously, that's not the case. If you ever wanted this jingle for your oldies station - it's now available. If I had a few spare millions floating around, I'd buy a radio station, load it PAMS jingles, lots of reverb and get some BOSS jocks and have a great time with it.

WOW! I loved this piece from the very earliest days of Radio London, back in 1964, where its constant plays before daily closedown at 3am made it so evocative of a wonderfully exciting era. But I've never heard it in stereo! At least, it seems to be stereo, although the sound keeps shifting across the channels - but there are moments when there is separation. I have this on a cd entitled Pirate Radio Jingles Of The Sixties, but it's not credited. I always assumed it was by Jimmy Smith... but no, it's by Jimmy McGriff. Looking through McGriff's listings on Discogs, it doesn't seem to have been issued on any of his albums.
There was another piece that was constantly played on the pirates, called London, That's My Home Town. This was another of PAMS' creations, which is also on my CD, in stereo. Again, it's uncredited. The song was distributed to radio stations across North America, and to the UK pirates, with the name of the town the station served being re-voiced and so tailored to that particular town. It was a little strange to hear a song with the title London, That's My Home Town being sung in an American accent - but I guess we never really thought about it back then, so impressed were we by the fizz and sparkle the Americans had brought to our formerly staid, stiff radio scene! You can find it by clicking on this link:

There was also a sparkling version of this song by British female trio The Chantelles (slightly re-titled London My Home Town), on the B-side of their powerful first single I Want That Boy in 1965. The label credits Euel Box, who seems to have been closely involved with PAMS as a writer, perhaps producer, arranger and performer. Both tracks are posted on CZcams. The Chantelles were initially the starting point for Dusty Springfield, who was one of their members in the early 60s, when they were known as The Lana Sisters, leaving for the Springfields long before these tracks were recorded.

Never knew this was Jimmy McGriff playing, but it makes sense. Thank you for posting this! Series 18 and 27 were the greatest jingles ever!

I don't know, but as short as it is, I don't believe so. He actually did a bunch of jingle stuff for them. Mostly a lot shorter.

Didn't Euel Box do the music for one of the early Benji movies?

Yes! I'm his cousin, retired from radio and he was the arranger of a majority of PAMS Jingles plus the trumpet player.
