Martin Short remains one of the most entertaining people ever. He is just naturally funny.
I listened to it on a road trip and laughed and cried. I, too, didn't want it to end. From the first words, his voice- the life in it! his vitality comes through and that never dissipates- rather it increases and gets more faceted. The 9 Categories- is something everyone should know about.

There's so many people commenting who don't know Martin Short or his work, and I highly recommend him! SCTV, his one season of SNL, his comedy specials, Clifford, Father of the Bride...if you haven't seen any of these, he's done voice work before, too. I remember him with Patrick Stewart in Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius.
I've been a big fan of Martin Short since I was a child. He's kinda shaped my own sense of humor. The memoir is beautifully written, too.
Martin's role as Ned Perry, the down and out bank robber who takes Nick Nolte hostage in "Three Fugitives" is one of my favorite. Next would be as Jack Putter in "Inner Space" and as Ned Nederlander in "The Three Amigos"

@@Jodyrides I don’t personally like him much, BUT I like that he’s himself. People always give him so much crap for laughing about everything, but I think it’s great that he can just have fun all the time. Most of his comedy just isn’t my taste, but I still appreciate the man, yknow?
I guess the reason I wanted to say something was because not many people seem to like him, purely because of his laughs, but I like that about him, and wanted to say so.

He never fails to provide good laughs. A true comedian. Not a flash in the pan, or a so called "legend", who rests on his laurels.

Even though I'd heard Martin Short tell the Al Pacino story on another show, I laughed just as hard as the first time I heard it. I used to watch Martin Short when he had a daytime show and that was the first time I saw Jiminy Glick....like a lot of people (including supposedly Martin Short's own mother) I could not recognize him. Thanks for this.

I read Martin's Book too and felt the same way............that I didn't want to finish it. I just loved it. I've always loved him in all that he's done. Would love to see him in a live production sometime. Thanks Jimmy for another great show. Love seeing my fellow Canadians on too! :)

Martin's story about meeting Frank Sinatra, reminded me of a story a friend told me: He and some buddies went on a bender and the next day they were all hung over. They went to a restaurant for breakfast and the waitress asked if he wanted soup or juice with the meal. God only knows why they offered soup for breakfast, but anyway, my friend thought she said super juice. He was so hung over, he thought there was actually a hangover cure called super juice. He ordered the super juice and the waitress stormed off, returning with a glass of juice. She thought he was making fun of her accent. lol!!

The best part of the book is the end, where Martin discusses his late wife. That part is not comedy. But the whole book is very good.
