What is HDR?:
If you watch this video on an HDR compatible device like an Oled TV, or a mobile phone like the Samsung S8 S9 and iPhone X, you will be able to see a High Dynamic Range version of the video. HDR basically means better contrast, greater brightness levels and a wider color palette. The idea is that your eyes can perceive brighter whites and darker blacks - greater dynamism - than traditional TVs have been able to display.

Hello everyone!, I filmed this new video during my last visit to Mexico in October 2022, using the Sony Alpha 1 and the super sharp 70-200 lens. This was filmed in 4K HDR and 60 fps. With 60 frames per second the motion of animals looks more fluid and realistic. I highly recommend to watch this video on a HDR TV or mobile phone with HDR screen. Enjoy! :) -Julian
As a fellow HDR shooter myself, I am blown away by that Sony A1 with brilliant colors and the tack sharp focus of that 70-209mm. Have you ever had to focus manually with that lens or has it been reliable enough in auto focus? I love all of scenes but I am super impressed with the HDR lighting of the Leopard scenes👍🏻😍
@@MoodyaHDRnatureVideos Thanks!, I rarely focus manually, I use the Real-Time Tracking Touch to Focus, if the animal moves the tracking maintains the focus and follow the animal :)
@@BaluRelaxingNature Especially in 60p but I imagine that A1 would probably keep up with 24p just as well😀 I use LUMIX, so you know the story there. I don’t even try autofocus🤣

only with my video projector and only recently (with a new decoder that let me connect to CZcams)
I contacted CZcams suport to fix this issue, the HDR version is ok, the problem is the SDR version with VP9 codec

weird....the scrubbing preview shows the right colors but the video looks like colors are inverted or something...the red parrots are blue. The cat at the beginning was blue.

Hi!, I reported the problem to CZcams support. I found that the video looks fine in HDR on TV, but in SDR with VP9 codec the colors are wrong.

Awesome work, I love that all of your content is original. Do you have a tutorial on how you set up your color management, and/or Sony in-camera settings? I am trying to learn HDR as I go, but I'm having trouble with some colors being overly saturated. I'm using PP10 HLG2/BT.2020. I'm using resolve with "Color Processing Mode: HDR Rec.2020 HLG" and "Output Color Space Rec.2100 HLG" I also just purchased the 1000 nit MacBook Pro, and now I want to go back and re-edit my videos for 1000 nits. Haha...I guess I have a lot to learn
Hi!, sorry but I don't have a tutorial. I use the PP10 but HLG3 instead of HLG2 (Check this video czcams.com/video/D2iqEDUe1qg/video.html ). For resolve I use: Project Settings>Color Management>Color science=Davinci YRGB, Timeline color space Rec.2020 ST2084 1000 nits, Output color space=same as timeline. I add a Color Space Tranform FX to each clip with this settings= Input Color Space=Rec.2020, Input Gamma=Rec.2100 HLG, Output Color Space and Output Gamma= use timeline. I also have a Macbook with XDR display, make sure you use the HDR Video P3-ST 2084 display mode instead of the P3-1600 nits mode. Also go to Davinci Resolve preferences>General= enable "use 10-bit precision in viewers if available" and "Use Mac display color profiles for viewers". I hope this helps :)

With your settings + color space transform, the viewer window inside of Resolve exactly matches the look of my exported files, whereas before I was having this issue where they didn't completely match. P3-ST 2084 display mode is needed as well. Thanks so much!!! I am going to edit a 1000nit video and try to get it on CZcams soon :)
One last question - does your waveform range from 0 to 768 when editing in this mode? And you keep your specular highlights just under 768? It went from the maximum of 1023 to 768 after the color space transform, but I guess that is normal. My RX100 is 10 bit. Thanks man
@@nickmooreHDR Hi Nick, I'm glad the settings worked for you. Regarding the waveform, you must use the HDR waveform, click on the 3 dots in the corner of the waveform window, select waveform scale type > HDR, you will se the waveform with 10, 100, 1000 and 1000 nits, I never go over 1000 nits with my specular highlights. I hope this helps!

What a HDR video demo. I used this to help tune my Philips Ambi but then stayed for the eyecandy and the deep deep music. Its a shame almost no terrestrial TV channels in UK broadcast even in 1080p, god forbid, a 4K tv channel. I don't know how it is in other places but in UK we only have around 4 HD channels on Freeview Vs 150+ SD only? How!? Its like we're still in 2016...
It makes me feel like joining the "4K smart TV club" (at NO small expense lol!) was not a clever idea. Me not realising ALL normal TV (as in 98% of TV) will look extremely bad, and all 1080p video will look "just bad usually, but sometimes just OK". Its like I've bought a TV that shouldn't have been released for 15 years until HD broadcast becomes the new SD. Again, this looks incredible, but 98% of TV now looks awful. And I mean awful!
