another tip is to use take a breather when mcree is going to shoot during dead eye and you are still running for cover, the damage reduction makes it take an extra second or two and can keep you alive until you reach cover. a lot of mcree’s also blast their deadeye while you’re in take a breather with this trick and you survive easily
latenightjack you should try to hook the mcree before you do this, since this only saves you, but if you hook mcree this tip saves your entire team
It’s super busted you can survive 3 seconds of deadeye if you’re full health with take a breather
AndRew Wu if you have low health the deadeye will kill you before the hook connects

This technique also works with DVA bomb and junkrat tire and even sigmas flux (even tho that won’t kill you at 600hp) but times right your take a breather can recover almost all lost health!

Bruh I hate that this is reality. As a hog main, I'm tired of getting main tanks that instalock my hog because it's the only off tank they can play

A tip i got is when dva is gonna ult ur back line hook her mech forward or out of line of sight of ur team to make sure they live. But only if ur ahead of the team. If ur with the team do not hook the mech into ur whole team and get urselves killed 😂
That was play for enemy dva and my team was screaming at me😂
For a Hog v Hog scenario: hook, step forward, primary fire to the neck and melee combo does about 350-400 damage. That means if you see or are engaging a hog with almos two thirds of health, you can confirm the kill with a combo. Also, remeber hook cancels fire, so a barely damaged hog (500hp) can be killed with a well placed bodyshot and the combo. (A perfect secundary to the head plus combo insta kills a hog, thats 600hp!)
You could literally assassinate a roadhog
#1 your "Take a breather gives you damage reduction, so even if you're antied you can still use it to escape and return to your team"
Here is a little tip for some of y'all hog players: when using "take a breather" you should also mimic the hog's actions by taking a deep breath and letting it all out. I mostly do this in comp games to calm myself due to how stressful a comp game can be.
hook enemies into molten core or wrecking ball’s mines

I like to hook enemy tanks into the one healthpack by point B in Volskaya Industries and body block them so they can't escape. Hog can absolutely destroy any tank that isn't D. Va or Rein that way.
Edit: Added space to D.Va because I prefer black text.
My tip for roadhog is to use your teams props more for example you can hook an enemy into a trap, mines, or maybe in the los of torb turret or sym turrets.
Roadhog Tip: Watch Cyx
You can also save your healers/squishies from the Rein pin. They may get hit with the initial charge damage, but you can hook that rein to you mid charge before the killing pin
His advice at 14:52 is golden. I did it, but not continuously I admit. It vastly improved my accuracy. Even losing a game still feels fun!
Tip for aiming: don’t necessarily shoot as soon as u can. Take your time and line up good, high value shots (unless you’re spamming shields).
Or you're ult farming
A piece of advice: Bastion should actually be a prime target for the hook as it will remove it from the turret form. Also most of the time it's sitting still so it's actually pretty easy to hook it from the maximum hook range.
Ps this doesn't work in ove 2 guys so don't do this or ull get melted

The deadly spank..
Extra tip: Damage the other Roadhog to half or near-half health then go for the hook first. You could also wait for him to use his hook and dodge it and hook him.
Otherwise don't hook the other Roadhog first.
Hogs ult can project him upwards, if it swings a fight and you get booped or hooked off the map, ult, instantly look straight down and propel back to safe ground. But ONLY if it's to win a fight, if you do it and are met with a 5 stack to destroy you, you fed and wasted a huge ult.

As a hog main, on Eichenwalde/Hanamura when you're on defense, use the bridge/small room.above the mega in Hanamura for safe and easy flank hooks to disrupt the first push of the enemy team. After you successfully win the fight, jump down and rejoin your team for the next one.

I very much enjoyed the small tips, the video in the background was hilarious, but maybe 1-2 good examples per tip would be more useful.
Then the video would be unnecessary long, the length is perfect as anything longer becomes convoluted..
When playing behind shields as hog, hooking an enemy tank and pulling them to the side can get your team a free pick and potential the teamfight.
Thanks for using Cyx as an example he is one of the best hogs out there.

You don't always want to prefire your primary fire after a hook it only kills squishy heros. If you hook while walking forward and wait a millisecond to shoot your primary you can get one shots on harder heros.

I accidentally deleted my other comment. But I got the notification that's why I'm here 😉. These are some great tips to help new hog players. And for everyone else the h8 you get when constantly camping a ledge and cliff hooking someone with zero mobility like Zen (watch the video to see how to do it) is hilarious!
Tip : Use "Take a breather" when d'va alts because that alt can kill you when you are at "600 hp" full health, but you can survive when you use it even if you were at 400 hp

If you pull mei to the left with your hook you'll expose her head hit box more and be able to easily kill her with the standard combo
TBH good tip is to play AROUND ANA
Either she is on your team or on the enemy team doesn't really matter she is by far the character that synergies/counter Roadhog the most in the entire game
If there is an Ana on the enemy team she can free farm her ult on you, land easy nades and easy sleep because of your hitbox, nade cancel the breather which makes you useless during the animation, sleep cancels breather, hook, and the whole hog. Never forget also that she is really hard to kill because of her small hitbox and that she can easily sleep you if you hook her at 200HP. She should always be your top priority and I mean 24/7
If there is an Ana on your team you have to work around her cooldowns because you both synergies so much again because of the huge hitbox, Ana can free farm her ultimate by healing you from far away, she can increase your healing capacity, nano on roadhog is always a good call making him virtually unkilable, making any hook a guaranteed one shot and making whole hog even more effective. Never be afraid to ask for a nano. If one of your support struggle to find value on Zen, Bap, Moira etc just ask them to switch on Ana. They will have instant value if they just focus you even if they never played the hero before
TLDR Ana is your best friend and your worst enemy at the same time, never forget that

as a masters hog player the only thing that i really learned was #39, something you would think is simple but i never really thought about

Just as you made this the meta changes and he is not needed as a front line. I’m very high silver rank in dps but I think next season I’ll go either tank or support and do little dps. I’m not bad at hog. My hook can improve a lot though. With this in mine I could come a lot better. So good luck to me and seems I haven’t played tank in rank I will have to grind a lot to get where I am. As I did with dps. I didn’t play ranked much at all. So it’s always going to be a grind to rank up. But I went from mid bronze to just 1900sr in 2 weeks. So I can do it on tank too I guess
The 50% damage reduction can make you survive most ultimates in the game, like dva, junk, reaper, i think hanzo, etc

I used to be gold with D.VA now i'm RodeHog main i need the hook drop kill or hook support to actually win. Playing D.VA is hard now i can't even time my defence matrix on zarya ult. Cuz i adapted Cyx play style as soon as i started watching him cuz those hooks are satisfying than D.VA ult bomb
Unless you have a rein playing dva against zarya she gonna farm you .
And since they be playing rein zarya you'll most likely lose that fight thanks to rein zarya synergy is much better then dva/shield
Tbh most dva players are feeders and in this meta feeding will cause u to lose more
if you alternate shoot bastion twice and do the hook combo after two hits bastion is an instant kill
