I’m by the way you OU i got it For o
I think this is the longest video I've ever posted 🥵
we love you 🥹
🌸🌺🌸
😂❤️
Goodness, I can watch it till the next one will be uploaded 😂
Lucky us 🤍
"this is such a weird hobby" ABSOLUTELY SENT ME 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂
I know I’m not your ideal demographic but plant chores videos are my favorite. I get ideas and tips. I appreciate that.
my ideal demographic is those who watch and enjoy my videos, so that's you :) thank you for being here!
Nurses make amazing plant parents I’ve come to that conclusion. You, Melissa, & Kevin are all so amazing at caring for your plants! You are all a joy to watch and follow ❤❤❤
I did not know Kevin was a nurse 😅
As a long time watcher I must say I have absolutely never seen or had an issue with your lighting. You mention struggling with it often, but I can literally never tell. From a viewer's perspective there is no issues watching when something is recorded during the day/afternoon/night/artifical light vs natural haha. Don't be too hard on yourself lol, film whenever!!
Have you considered dunking entire plants with mealies? This way you treat in all crevices and get soil as well (in case you have soil mealies).
Try spraying isopropyl alcohol on your compacta, instead of just using a q-tip. It will NOT kill the leaves or the plant. I've done this with a few of my Hoya compactas, as well as many other plants. The only plant it effected negatively was my monstera albo's leaves (it burned a few leaves). I didn't lightly spray either. I made sure they were FULLY saturated to kill anything that was hiding (especially in the compactas). It worked like a charm with no casualties (only a few burned monstera albo leaves).
I keep an inexpensive watercolor paint brush on hand, rather than a cotton swab, to go after mealy bugs. Those soft, flexible bristles get into places a cotton swab can't, and it's reusable.
Such a great idea! Thanks :)
Hi Fern! Just a note about mealy bugs. Root mealies and foliage mealies are a completely different insect. While both are scale insects, they are a different genus, thus they have different feeding behaviors. Root mealies live in the soil and feed exclusively on roots while foliage mealies live on the foliage and feed exclusively on leaf tissue. Root mealies will never venture out of the soil to the leaves and vice versa for foliage mealies. Hope this makes you feel a bit better 🙂
“I’m not prepared to be a grandmother” 😂😂
ma’am. an hour and 42 minute video. i’m shook. 🙌🏼 happy thursday to us all.
You’re the best hahah enjoy!! 🥰🌿🙌
This is the long video I needed to get me through the rest of my work day. Thank youuuu
you're so welcomeeee
FERN KEEPS BLESSING US THIS FEBRUARY ✨✨✨✨🌈🌈🌈🌸🌸🌸🧃🧃🧃🧃✨✨✨🌸🌸
🥰🥰🥰🥰
Thank you for uploading so much lately!! It’s helped my mental health so much 🥺💖
I have my weekly battle with mealybugs. You should also wipe down the shelf including the underside and vertical supports where these plants were. Mealybugs like to hang out on the glass and metal. They also like to hide on the underside of that rim on the plastic planters. Or really anything. They are evil.
I recommend using a spray bottle with the alcohol and just going to town on the Hoyas. I've never had an issue drenching my plant, but then I know I 100% got those mealies. Especially on a compacta!
I recently had mealies on my compacted hoya. I decided to spray the whole plant with half water and half alcohol. The spray really worked in all the crevices. I didn’t wash off the alcohol. The mealies are gone and the plant is healthy.
Fern you are such a pure soul. We are so grateful for this extra long video!
Just at the time when I received the package with the new plants! I love long form videos, absolutely no complaints! 🥰
Almost 2 hrs?! We're not worthy 🙇🏽♀️
Lol
I'll be slowly digesting this all day 🙌🏽
🥰🥰🥰
Tip to remove mealy bugs from Hoya compacta-
uproot the plant and jerk and shake it inside a container filled with water. Water will reach inside all the crevices and remove the mealy’s
Change the water until you don’t mealy’s anymore
Before this step you can also soak it in soap water for a while
The Frosted Heart DIY pole is EXACTLY how I make mine!
I love plant chores videos! 🪴
I love the longer videos!! Thanks for all the hard work editing this!
i love adding diatomaceous earth in my soil! it has helped me be pest free for a couple years! i let me soil completely dry out between waterings too. does wonders even though they say it doesnt work wet.
YESSS YOU POSTED! I love watching your videos as I do plant chores, which can also take quite some time. Thank you for all your hard work! Us planty people appreciate you 🌱✨
Loved this long vid. Thanks for sharing Fern!
Almost two hours of plant vibing yesssss 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
I love that painting over the cabinet in your living room.
Love ittt❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉 plants chores videos are my favourite ❤
I think when you were fiddling with the milsbo door, you manually moved the lock thing at the bottom of the left wing. Changing it back to its previous position should solve it ^_^
I love plant chore videos!
Hi Fern, I've been watching your channel since 2021, I really love watching your journey! I just wanted to say that you can use undiluted 70% alcohol on your hoyas. Just spray and let dry. Of course, keep out of high light until they dry, but it works on mealies and also helps the flat mites. I also use sulfur once every 3 months as a preventive for flat mites, but spraying the alcohol opposed to using a q tip is SO much easier. ❤
I personally don’t mind all the plant chore videos 🤭🥰 also can’t wait to see all the new Hoyas you got 👀 I’m slowly entering that phase in Hoya collecting where I’m more interested in what the blooms look like 😂
Glad to see another video❤❤❤
So much needs to be done and I love so much to watch it 💚🪴🐝
ahhhh yesss! busy bee mode 🐝 thank you for watching :)
I loved this video so much! Such a perfect end to my day 💚
That was really nice to have the soft lovely music while you showed your plant. Very relaxing. It would be great to have more of that :) It seems like with a compacta it should be thoroughly hosed off every time it's watered.
I like the red crystal/doriake. It’s really beautiful 😊
Yes Fern, your skin looks beautiful. Absolutely glowing!
Hey beautiful lady! Thank you for all the information you give us and the shared experience!
Awe thank you!! :)
I love watching you videos so much! They always relax me and calm me down. They also motivate me whenever I need to do maintenance for my plants 🫶🏻🌿
Love your videos and especially the long ones! So satisfying to see those repots! You do a great job! ❤❤❤
Seeing this posted made my day!
Absolutely love these long videos! Keep it up💜
Easy plant love the syngonium just keep up on watering and i know it will be happy with ya
For the cabinet I have found that i need to put the foots down/up on the other door before you lock it otherwise it will open like that, Love the video, hope this helps! 😊
I’ve been doing my plant chores along with you 😀🇨🇦
I want an Aglaonema Pictum Tricolor too 😍 Good job on the plant chores queen 💗
Been loving watching this video in parts! You been on it with the videos recently! Also love seeing your vanilla orchid bloom in the background! It’s been so cute ❤
YAY I love your long videos!!!
Great video Fern!
i loveeee my frosted heart, i chopped mine up to water prop and it's been doing great in leca for me!
YAY love the long videos!
Your yogurt pot cracked me up 😂 good video thanks for showing us all 3 days!
The adonsonii looks so beautiful and wild, i love it. Thank you for this long and enjoyable video. ❤
I had a hoya craze over the summer because I was obsessed with the blooms and scents of the flowers and it has transitioned into an orchid obsession for the same reason.
I have also been putting off removing mealy bugs from one of my hanging plants, and more and more kept showing up. But this video has motivated me to remove them finally x)💗
Watched this in one go - love love love long videos. Thanks for all the effort and time you put into your videos, especially these marathon ones! You are so appreciated. Also after watching the pon repot, kinda feeling like it may be the way to go with my plants that keep drying out too quickly. Like my maranta types. Thanks for the inspiration. 🪴🌞
Sooooo relaxing
I love these long plant chores videos 😊 Neem oil can be used as a fungicide!
I love the cute Anthurium Army 😂 thanks for the wonderful video 🙂
Those roots are so healthy looking
Fern! Your linearis has gotten so long and beautiful! I remember when you were propagating it when it was in a small hanging basket on your bed at your old place. Great job! Love it! ❤😊
Aahhhhhh I just ordered a frosted heart! I’m so excited to get it in the mail this week!
Also just wanted to say I love your content, I’ve said it before but your videos really help me when I’m not feeling so great. It’s so calming and grounding and just what I needed today. 🌷
omg how exciting!! and thank you so much, that means a lot 😭
I forgot how many of those seedlings you planted. Wow!
Was just doing some plant chores. Taking a break and rewarding myself with your video. Potted up some props and need to hang my grow frame. As a renter drilling holes always makes me nervous. I need to do it right the first time. Feeling the pressure
girl i love this longer style video i could watch u all day
If you can pick up Physan 20 up there get it! A little bottle will last forever as its like 1/8 tsp per gallon. It works wonders on fungal problems.
I just got a jade satin Scindapsis today. I never thought i get a variegated Scindapsis but I managed to snag a nice one. Looove it!
I also sprinkle diatomaceous powder in the bottom of my decorative pots to prevent fungus gnats too and it’s been so helpful 🙌🏼
1:12:38 you can put osmocote to moss but just a few ball!!I loved this video ❤
Those pot stretchers are pretty cool
For your cabinet doors check to see if the cabinet is level. My rudsta door was doing that on one side and it was because the floor was a bit wonky and once I adjusted the leg bases it fixed it.
I really enjoyed the relaxing piano music during the first tasks. Also I have mealies on my big green Compacta. I’m currently pretending I didn’t see them. 😖 Enjoyed this whole video!
I got a fungal issue on one of my succulents that was similar to yours. I just wiped it down with a home-made cleaning mixture and washed it so not to damage the leaves further. The marks never went away, but they did grow out and now it looks great! Good luck.
You finally got a frosted heart yay!!!!
I had wanted to send you one quite a while ago but didn’t know enough about sending plants to Canada from the US 😭
Just finished the patreon video, and jumping right into this one!! ❤
I just opened my planthaven toronto orders, so I'll be watching this while I get them in their "acclimation" setup! ❤❤
Thank you for the wonderful long video!!
Oh perfect!!! My planthaven package came too 🤩 what a good week 🌿
You can put alcohol and a spray bottle and also use a small paint brush to go through the crevice. I do that one my 3 compacta and macrophlla.
love me a long video! such a treat 🤩
so glad to hear!! enjoy :)
I left my crystal X Mag seedlings till you could see roots every where. I also work for Canada post so hear ya on the shipping. But there is a company in BC called slot box. They make boxs that fit through as over sized lettermail. Under 100 grams would be 2.10 and than the bix cost would be say 1.00. So you could send the seedlings bare root in the spring to people within Canada. And I'm sure they would pay ya the $5 or whatever for them. I know I would. I bought my doryaki seeds, and crystal Meg seedlings from BC.
I'm so stoked you're onto Bios too! I use the Yucca Extract and water in a spray bottle and thats what I use to clean my plant leaves!!
Also your Piper is stunning!!! I've had mine about as long as you've had yours, but mine is just a stick with one leaf 😅 😅
Hey Fern, the SFH is one of the only syngonium I grow in a cabinet. She's about 1-2’ from my Barina floor light.
I hope I get my Hoya Krohniana as full as yours! It's beautiful! 😍
Fern your plants are gorgeous!!! I wish I lived closer I would literally volunteer my time to help you with your plant chores and stuff! I just learn so so much from you. Also I would definitely love to buy one of those monstera obliqua's from you. I have yet to get a anthurium I'm a little intimidated by them for some reason but those little babies u have are the cutest and makes me want to try them out❤️❤️
Not prepared to be a grandmother lol, you're awesome! Loved this video.
On the Milsbo you have to use the bottom lock first then lock the top. It’ll stay closed
Definitely the longest 😅! Love it! ❤❤
Hey Fern, thanks for a nice long chill plant video. I enjoy listening while I’m doing my own plant chores. 😃 To give the seedlings the best chance, pot them up once they have at least their second set of leaves. I have a Milsbo tall and I’m wondering if you are locking the left door before closing the right door on your Milsbo? There should be a lock at the top and the bottom. I had the same problem until I realised that. 🤦♀️
It must be beautiful outside your window in spring
Id love an updated video of all the fertilizers you use and how and why!! And any info on ammending old soil to use if you do that!!
I, too, am in a hoya mood. I have a krohniana black that is blooming!!!! Next hoya is going to be the krohniana splash-as soon as it stays a decent temperature at night so shipping won't be an issue.
Also, love the see-through pots. I am always interested in knowing what the roots are doing.
BTW, your linearity is gorgeous 😍
Omg I need the swiftie pot😍😍😍
Can you make an alchohol, water and a little dishsoap solution in a dishpan and holding your fingers over the soil, turn the pot upside down, and swish the plant stem/leaves in the solution for a few minutes.. It should get more mealies than the q-tip method. Should be good for the h.compacta. Love your videos, good luck with the bugs
Fern with your compacta, get a spray bottle, you can get an alcohol bottle from Dollarama and just spray it when you remember because you'll never ne able to get them all. I also made a tea tree and alcohol bath when my big one got mealeys and dunked it head first in, wrap saran wrap around the top of the pot tp keep the soil in. Good luck. I have mealeys at the moment also. 😢
Great ideas - thank you!! 🫶🫶
I'm loving that black long sleeve planty shirt!!! And the plants of course, lol
Thank you :)
Me too where did you get it?
Beautiful frosted heart!! I have one but I feel like I can’t figure it out 😂
For that frosted heart, I never do anything special to mine. Those frosty leaves keep growing like that no matter where I put it. But I do notice that when I moved it into my bedroom with less lighting, the new leaf came out slightly smaller in size. But when I put it near the light again (bright indirect light), the size increases again (well lots of plants experience this too anyway). When it comes to watering, just like other syngoniums, they're pretty thirsty so they hate being dried out. Also you may wanna wipe those leaves pretty often because they have that frosty look so I've been fooled twice, first I thought it was just a frosty situation but turns out it was a very thick dust 😂 and the second one was I thought there were some frosty dots showing up but they were actually very very small bugs (?) or pests (?) i still cannot figure out what that was but it was definitely disgusting lol so happy for your frosted heart finally joining the plant gang! ❤️
This is all great advice, thank you so much for commenting 😊
Hi, try using a watercolor brush instead of a qtip. It reaches into the tiny crevices better. Plus it's reusable.
