It's to locate them while there roosting early in the morning gobblers get pissed when they here that because it means one of two things a flock a crows fighting close by or a hawk attacking a crow so they let off what's know as a "shock" gobble kind of a territory wake up scream towards other birds lol

Why wouldn't you make a turkey call?
