Hampson and Battle: two immense singers with too many facial mannerisms.
bruh
This is a travesty. The song is a WALTZ. It moves, it lilts, it lifts and spins and turns. Hampson kills it. Drags it through the usual mud of the lovely tenor voice which he loaded up with so much baritone undertones that it is barely tenor any more. And his version of this TANZLIED (literally, in the german, a DANCE SONG) drags this song down into slug and ugly muck the same way he dragged his lovely tenor voice into the muddy depths of baritone tone quality. Ouf. And people LIKE this? How tastes have degraded in our time....
womp womp
Your criticism of this is useless, since you don’t recommend any alternative. Also, Thomas Hampson is one of the great opera stars of the world. So your comments say more about you, then about him.
Bravo!!
