- Winter Storm Izzy ended up dumping 14" of snow in our area. I pull out all my snow removal tools: The loader, plow, an edge tamers. Each have a place for this clean up but it might have been too much for my plow and edge tamers.

I know we have had the conversation about blade versus blower before but watching your video made me glad I have taken the plunge and bought the blower it is so much quicker and easier
Consider using chains on those tires, it make a huge difference. Can't live without here (Canada)
i use a 54" blower and a snow pusher blade, excellent combination
I have an HLA SnowPusher for my 1025 and it works like a charm on my long gravel driveway.
I got the 60 inches HLA for my 2025R...works great!
Thanks for sharing this. All of your videos are great! You've got a good sense for how to create them in ways that we can see exactly what you're doing. I can see that the edge tamers are a big help if you push the snow and have a gravel driveway. My driveway is a bit over 300 ft with two large parking areas. Fortunately, we had it paved a few years ago. So, I use a blower on my 1025R. I'm very happy with it and can clear a snow like this one (we got about 12" from this storm up in the mountains east of Pittsburgh) in a bit over 30 minutes.

About a month ago I had my first snow storm since buying my 1025r and edgetamers and I love them for my gravel driveway
I use tamer’s and I found that if you place them in from the outside edges of your bucket, you will find they work better. It avoids scraping if you have any sort of crown in your driveway.

I have about a 300' stone/oil drive way with a pretty decent grade. I start the winter with the edge tamers (I use 3) on the 1025R bucket, then switch to the pusher then when things get heavy I switch to the blower. I have a blade on the 3 point all winter. So far this year I could have gotten by with the bucket and the tamers but threw on the blower last storm thinking it was going to dump on us. Turned out not to be the case. Going to see what this Friday brings. As the winter winds down, I reverse the attachments and end with the bucket and tamers. Great video..Thanks for sharing!

I bought a HLA 1500 snow pusher. 66” two years ago. I love it. Our last storm I used the rear blower in combination with the pusher and rear tire chains. Reason 66” hoping to upgrade to 2032-2038 someday. But if I was keeping the 1025r I prob would have gone with the 48” or 60”.

I had that same plow for my 1025r and i had a 1km long gravel driveway. I broke multiple things in that plow and many welds broke. My dealer allowed me to trade it in on a 1000 series HLA plow and it is night and day difference in the quality!
I have since upgraded to a 3033r cab with a HLA 2000 and boy what a fun time!
Yes, those edge tamers are great for gravel driveways. Mine is about 300 ft long. Between bucket and rear blade it did the job. Only problem I had was steering the front end my drive has a slope and front of tractor wanted to slide over into the field.
Seems we missed alot of the snow here in west Central Illinois 4" or so. I love my setup 60" jd snow pusher and 60" rear blade on my 1025r. Looks like you got to have more tractor time. Keep up with the good videos.
Your video is about as close to snow as I want to be. That cold air made it down here into north Florida, the new growth on my small orange trees got nipped. Supposed to be even colder Sunday, I hate covering plants up.
You got a chance to show us 3 methods of moving snow (less the pusher). The first year I had a bucket and edge tamers. The following year I got a CTA plow. I love the plow. I hope that you get a chance to fix your plow quickly Sir. Thanks for sharing.

On other note, even though you don’t drink, I would have accepted the neighbors gift of the bourbon. It would have made him feel great, and you could always give it to someone else.
Another option is a box pusher for removing snow.
I use edge tamers often on my gravel drive
don't be shy about tightening them down thats what the large washers are for oops you got them used . they are shipped with large washers for between the bolt and your bucket edit: also a rear scrap blade would work good to
I live in Hockessin Delaware and we don’t get much snow but when we do my driveway and three of my neighbors are very steep, long and dangerous. I plow all four with my 1025R without a cab….I’m seriously thinking of getting a cab like yours.
I’m getting ready to put edge tamers on my John Deere. I am going to put a tether on them just in case they come loose. I won’t have to wait till spring to find them.😁
I really think you should invest in a super duty truck & fisher plow setup or western plow. Your machine is working really hard for that size tractor. Interesting video thank you be safe.
I put my edge tamers in about 10 inches from each side it seemed to work better than on the corners, also I spray my bucket with a silicone spray which helps with the snow sticking to the bucket and the shoot of my snow blower. Just wondering whose cab that one looks a lot bigger than most kit ones I have seen.

I added a third Edge Tamer and like them much better. I still have not figured out the loader mounted plow on my 2025R. I have the front 3rd function and angling cylinders. Too bad the manual says not to angle while moving. My go to for hard surfaces is the rubber edged 54 inch blade on my X738. I have not used my 54 inch snow blower for 4 years.
The loader mounted plow does take some getting used too and the right conditions.
You can slit a piece of ABS pipe and push it onto the front of the bucket, this allows you to plow and not accumulate gravel.
I believe in the front snowblower. It would have been half the time and you don’t have the piles. Thank you for the video it showed the downfall of using them.
Does another attachment share the same size pin so you can get out and plowing right away while your dealer find the pin for you? If not maybe it’s t ime for you to get a welder! You could weld a flange that’ll hold that pin in likely better than John Deere welded it. Great cab too, I could use one of those for sure- I appreciate your videos! Thanks for sharing. Check out my comment! I find the are not heavy duty and often break under big snows.
See if your dealer will trade against a hla plow and you will be very happy!
Broken pin. Ordered 2 just in case, dealer said 2-4 weeks, but it came in 4 days. Going to do an update in about 2 weeks.
When I take off my edge Tammy's I put them in the backhoe bucket

Take that flange off and weld it back to the pin. It looks like the weld broke.
At first I thought they were to different parts. I ordered a new one and see what you mean. I'll get the old one welded for a spare. Thanks, Tom
From experience I can tell you using the tamers the backhoe is too much weight in the back so when you are in float you can’t steer either put something lighter on back or front weights
I agree! Mostly put the backhoe on to show that it does not interfere with the cab.

Hard to tell with the snow, do you have wheel weights? I saw the rear tires spin; which triggered me to ask the question? I now have a lil' better view, doesn't look like you do.
Nope, no wheel weights, looking into Rim Guard.

I'm curious as to what your expectations were/are for the Edge Tamers? I bought some at a farm show several years ago. I too have a long gravel driveway (800 ft.) and I got sick of raking stones each Spring. I use a bucket on a JD 455 with Edge Tamers and it cuts down on the raking in the Spring. So I believe that's what the Edge Tamers were designed for. Just my 2 cents! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I think that's what there designed for. Kind of the same idea as plow shoes. Although if you keep the plow/bucket up or drive on small snow storms it does the same thing.
Yep, I was pointing out that each tool has its place. The edge tamers perform well on gravel driveways, no question. But when the snow is 14" and the drive is 700' the plow goes much quicker(when you don't break a pin:).

What broke off is called the flag, or the pin’s flag. Easy welding job to repair. If you’re in mid northern Minnesota: bring it by and I’ll weld it for you or teach you how to prep and weld it yourself. I have a similar setup for snow clearing. czcams.com/video/sYD5F3jnENg/video.html

You're a good neighbor and have good neighbors. I plowed my neighbor's drive for free for 15 years and he never even said thanks. Then he died.

If your just sticking with your loader for snow removal edge tamers are essential for gravel drives.
Wait till you break the rear end in that tractor. It's a know problem by John Deere.
