This Dreamy Cream Chocolate Dessert is our family favorite. I just made it for our Easter meal, so sharing the recipe.
3/4 cup cold butter
1 package chocolate cake mix
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 package, 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 cup confectioners sugar
4 cups whipped topping, divided
3 cups cold milk
2 packages (3.9 ounces each) instant chocolate instant pudding mix
Heath Bits (optional)
In a large bowl, cut the butter into the cake mix until the mixture is crumbly. Add the egg and mix together. Press into a greased 13X9 baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 15-18 minutes or until set. Cool completely on a wire rack.
In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese on medium speed until fluffy. Add confectioners sugar and beat until smooth. Fold in 1 cup of the whipped topping. Carefully spread over the crust; cover and refrigerate.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the milk and pudding mix by whisking with a wire whisk for 2 minutes; let stand for 5 minutes or until slightly thickened. Spread over the cream cheese layer. Top with the remaining whipped topping.
Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before cutting. Add Heath bits on the top. Store the leftovers in the refrigerator. 12 servings.
