Catching Giant Yellowfin Tuna on JIGS

- We head back out to the edge of the shelf in search of trophy yellowfin tuna on the East Lump. This day in particular, they decided to eat artificial jigs on light tackle. This adds a unique challenge to landing these fish compared to hooking them on heavy conventional tackle. One fish weighed in at 199 pounds and the other came in at 174. We were headed back north to the dock by lunch time!

Great, boss Qu, what an extraordinary fish catch, keep your spirits up, sir, catch the best tuna...👍👍
Great job on the water Capt call that a sick day LFG🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you!
1st ahi ...... well that's a good way to burn your fish! Bleed them thourally out Gill and gut , and rod te spine from the head all the way to the tail.
You guys are charter sport fishing looks like but still you want sashimi quality ahi. I commercial fished off the big island of Hawaii where I'm born and raised, and I targeted big yellowfin and big eye. Been doing it for 40 plus years and the Japanese came to Hawaii to work with me and other commercial fisherman on how to take care of big ahi and prevent burn and get the highest sashimi quality!!!¡ caught literally thousands of 100-300 lb ahis. I use rod and reel and handlines fish day and night for them. Yeah exciting man!!! We call over 200 lb ahi gorilla ahi in Hawaii. Right on guys!!
Aloha from beautiful Hawaii D.L
Two weeks and I'm getting one of these experiences!!!! Good Job Capt!
Thank you sir! This is the time of year for absolute madness to take place!
Nice ones Capt!
Thank you 💪🏻
Awesome Allisons there, Cap. Greetings from your NY brother-from-another-mother.
I see you out there bending rods yourself!! Enjoy it my man
Love when it’s slick out. Have you been on any of the invincible cat hulls? Thoughts on them??
I’ve been on a 40ft and it’s one bad ass boat. I am as equally impressed with this 33 mono. I’ll be in an invincible for the rest of my life
Congrats Capt!
Thank you!
Super day God bless
Is it possible? I want to fish at YFT there brother...
What model saragoosa he use to catch tuna
That is a 14000 with 50lb braid and 80lb fluorocarbon leader. Penn Carnage rod. Absolute battle wagon of a set up. I caught a wahoo on the same exact jig the next day.
This is going to be painful for me to watch 😂 but I’m going too!
💯😂
There will be a fish hung on the crane at Mary Walker on a JYG Pro rod one of these days I can guarantee it. Just can’t guarantee the timing lol
@@GulfCoastGoogan That’s right 💪
Damn I wish I was out there. That’s so close to us. I need better friends with money.
