    I was firstly interested by the MBA M2 but prices in Europe are more expensive and quite close from MBP when you chose ram / storage options so I decided to go for the MPB 14 10C 16GPU that i was lucky to get quickly for a very good deal ! I love music, i must say that on the MBP it sounds amazing !!! For this only i would definitely recommend to chose it over the Air, right after i can say that the ProMotion screen is also perfect to watch 4k HDR content. For those worried about the weight, even with a case on it, it's still feels light to me, just go for it you won't regret !!!

  • @tobias1206

    In Europe, prices are a little different, and the difference between MBA with 512 GB and entry level MBP is only ~100€, so you would definitely think twice about going with the air, given that the pro just has many nice features, like the larger and way better screen and the speakers. Exactly, if you need 512 GB of disc space and 16 GB of ram anyway then M2 Air is currently almost the same price as base 14 inch M1 PRO model so in that case I think 14 inch M1 Pro is a winner.

    • @BaldurNorddahl
      @BaldurNorddahl Před rokem +3

      @Casper Holdud 14" mac pro with 512 GB HD and 16 GB ram is currently DKK 17.555 incl tax. The mac air m2 with 512 GB HD and 16 GB ram is currently DKK 15.999. So about 10% price difference. Honestly after you bump the MBA for 16gb ram and 512gb storage you’re purely buying it for the slim factor because you’re nearly at the price of a MBP. I was put in the position between the two and ended up taking the MBP 14 base. The screen is absolutely stunning no regrets. If you have the extra money I’d suggest going for the MBP.

    I like small machines. Portable and light. I just needed more beef in processing power though since I deal with high res videos and fast frame rates. The M1 Pro does that. Plus an extra thunderbolt port. So the 14” was the perfect balance for me as of right now for those kind of things for right now. If I need even more power, I’ll probably just head straight to the Mac Studio instead with newer chips. If they slapped on that same chip on the MacBook Air and gave me that extra port, I would probably have ordered one since it’s cheaper. The M2 Pro that will be on the new MacBook Pros will of course be improved, how much though? We shall see when apple launches that whenever they do that. Like I said, I might just head straight to the Mac Studio if I need more performance. The laptops can only be so powerful. It has to be able to run on battery after all and they can only do the best it can to cool the system down. On desktops, there’s plenty of headspace to put a way better cooling system in the machine.

    I’m going into computer systems technologies and I do light gaming and video editing here and there I’m going with the M2 16 gb ram. I honestly could care less about the SSD speed the difference is a couple seconds I think. I also don’t mind lugging around dongles and external SSDs. The one External display port I don’t mind. I think the M2A is a good launching off point for ppl like myself who wants a machine that can handle a bit of everything at an reasonable (by apple standards) price. Later down the line if I get into video editing or gaming or IT more I’ll upgrade to a pro. But rn I can’t justify the upgrade off of the possibility I’ll need all that power in the future.
    I saw someone say if you’re watching M2A vs M1P videos you don’t need a pro. Ppl who need a pro usually know it off the bat.

      The port selection can be really important for professional workflows (which is why I previously avoided all the thunderbolt only Macbook models). Especially when you're on the go, it's very easy to forget a dongle. I've already used the HDMI and SD card slot a bunch. My only complaint about the 14 inch is that they didn't also include a USB A. I of course had two adapters but I recently took it with me on a trip and lost them both in transit. Just another example of why having the proper port is always preferable to an adapter.

      @@BeierFilms probably because Apple wants its macbook to look "clean and sleek". Minimal ports or at least uniform-looking ports, which is unfortunate if you need different type of ports/cables. I also dont like the idea of having less ports. I just bought the M2 Air with 16go and 512go at a discounted price of 1630€ in France.
    Looking for the best price I could find for the base 14 ´MacBook Pro, it wasn’t under 2000€. So that make almost a 400€ difference in price, enough for not hesitate between the 2.
    Furthermore, after using it for about 2 weeks now, I am always so surprised how light it is, I have the feeling to hold my iPad Pro instead a computer…
    Performances wise, I edit videos in DaVinci Resove, 4K 422 10 bit files from Panasonic S5, edit files is a breeze, even with colour correction and some Luts or effects applied.
    I can play up to 4 4K layers without dropping any frame.
    The only limitation during my work is when I apply some fusion effects or title, I need to lower the playback resolution, as per the base MacBook Pro 14 I presume.
    Of course export time are longer, but the most important for me is to be able to work in a creative way, being able to instantly see the result on my timeline. If I need to wait 30 min for my project to render, this is absolutely not a problem, as soon as I know what to expect for the result.
    Of course for heavy project with a lot of animations, it is not the best choice but it is not intended for that purpose.
    For my daily work, including writing, web browsing and editing some photos and my CZcams videos which are about 15 mins long, it is far good enough !

Battery wise for normal tasks is easily a full day then you have fast charging on the 14".
