A great cheat to save you having to jump off the boat or lasso a cleat with a line... the simplest way to get lines on cleats if you are short-handed or single-handed.
Terrific.Thank youu. Of course I'm miffed that I hadn't thought of this. I have a boat hook like yours, but I also bought a 7' - 22' extension pole to use for washing my boat. I put a boat hook attachment on the end. Everyone, including me, always reaches for that boat hook first.
Great idea! I'd add to run the out from boat right under lifelines to immediately be able to tie onto boat cleat and not having to fiddle the line over lifelines and then in. I imagine you're doing this when not casually demonstrating.
I got one even simpler. Indeed bowline but keep the loop loose on the top spike. Hold the line tight while you hold the pole. When approaching the cleat slightly loosen and hook it on. Been doing this for almost a year now and never had the line fall off.
If it works for you it’s a winner! The benefit of attaching it is that no crew skills are required, so friends less versed in boating can confidently do it.

'Of course I'm miffed...' You sound like a fun sailor...

Great tip... thank you!
