Ethiopia is famous for being the place where the coffee bean originated. It is also known for its gold medalists and its rock-hewn churches. Ethiopia is the top honey and coffee producer in Africa and has the largest livestock population in Africa.

Ethiopia's Green, Gold and Red flag was adopted by many African countries as a sign of freedom. Ethiopia's flag is ancient and its a sign of freedom and independence! Green is our land, Gold or yellow represents peace and red is for the blood of our forefathers who fought and won and lost wars protecting their land. Ethiopia played big role in making other African country independent via diplomacy. That's why many adopted same color flags. Did you also know that Mandela used to use an Ethiopian passport during apartheid South Africa? Did you know he took his military training in Ethiopia? Yes Ethiopia has always been a strong pan African.
Ethiopia was the founding member of African union. King Haile Selasie the man responsible for that.
Abebe bikila was the FIRST African to win Olympic gold. When he lined up in Rome, the commentators laughed and asked who is this guy who has turned up with out shoes. Who is this trying to run bare feet. They dismissed the fastest time he run and said his watch must not have been working. You can find the video of the race on youtube. He won the race. Bare feet !!! Setting a new world record in the process. He ran bare feet to signify African determination. He is a hero not many African's know but is a legend in Ethiopia. He opened the door for Ethiopians and Kenyans to dominate long distance running.
Did you know that Ethiopia started the African football cup of nation? Yes, we won the first 3 cup of nations. We may be rubbish in football now but we used to be great. Has to be said most of African countries were not countries at the time. They were not independent.
Also worth noting, Africans can come to Ethiopia without a visa. You will get a visa on arrival. United we stand!
