I don't know if it's just in the United States but I feel like over the years manga prices have really increased. Some manga titles are 13 to 15$ and I can't imagine spending that price for 1 volume especially when it's a 20+ volume series and I want to get the whole title.

Absolutely Seven Seas volumes now range from £11.99 to £13.99 when they used to be lower. Plus outside of viz they don't have the price in £ on the back so its not uniform across stores what they charge
A regular Viz went from £6.99 to £7.99

Nah cuz if you go to malaysia and go to Kinokuniya, the prices are RM 43 -RM 98 for a volume.
If you go to MPH the volumes are always published by Shogakukan Asia and are about RM 34 - RM 37 😀

That second Waterstones was impressive - all the ones near me are notoriously awful for manga! I will be going to Foyles, just to enjoy those stacked tables!

BL manga tend to be aimed at the female gaze- hence why it's usually a subgenre of shoujo whereas most hentai has the male gaze in mind. Shounen ai and shoujo ai are BL/GL respectively. I've also noticed that non viz title prices tend to fluctuate between retailers.

I think I just had a moment of confusion cause I wasn't used to demographic groupings 😆
Yes! It would be nice if they printed £ prices on the back like Viz and dollars but I can get that might be more faff

We have a Blackwells in Newcastle and it is so disappointing! They seem to stock a few kids books and the rest of the shop is full of non-fiction and academic textbooks 😭 Blackwells online is the way to go!

Me staring at Foyles. I've never looked at the manga in there as I'm usually stuck in fiction as they have a bunch of US novels I can't get easily but Horimiya a shonen romance in the shoujo section and 07-ghost a josei fantasy in the shonen section fffssss. Staff need to check stuff.

I'm from Canada so I'll probably never get to go to these places but all of them. We get no deals here, I'm hoping November will have some good sales but I'm not holding my breath sadly. I just started collecting again so there are a lot of series that I want to get and are very behind on.
