It's my top match to watch. I have never been soo confused over who I wanted to win the match. The first one was incredible 😊 I remember being on the edge of my seat throughout. This match was truly incredible ❤
I like all type of wrestlers, all kind of wrestling styles all over the world. I like Technical, Strike, Brawl, Highfly, etc....
And this match is still my all time favourite among them all.

Personally my favourite match of all time is the Angle vs Lesnar Iron man match.
The Angle vs Benoit at the royal rumble is my second favourite (and Angle's favourite match too).
I would say Angle had the best matches in my opinion, followed by Michaels and Daniel Bryan
Benoit and Eddie matches were great but I loved watching HBK
It is easily the best match I have ever seen and I have seen all the classics that people usually mention in conversation.
As great as this match is, I disagree. Angle vs Benoit at the rumble, Angle vs Shawn in the iron man at raw. Angle vs Lesnar at summerslam, HHH vs Benoit vs Michaels at mania are slightly better I think. It is debattable though.
Shawn and Taker are my favorite wrestlers of all-time and it’s certainly MY favorite match ever.

To be able to surpass the matches they had in the 90’s that were basically 5 star blueprints on how you have a Big man vs the Little man match was insane!!
These two never had a bad match together. Two entirely different characters, styles and personalities that worked so well in the ring.
The fact that meltzer gave this match a rating of 4.75 stars is insane!!!

The first Undertaker match was in 97 Ground Zero that then led to the first Hell in a Cell match at Badd Blood to be specific and all lol
I thought Badd Blood was the first one, where Kane had his debut.

I recently rewatched that match and it was great because the crowd was totally locked in, they were so hype. It was fun to rewatch. I think they should ban cellphones from live events tbh.
Imagine how many times both almost retired before this. Had a massive outstanding career with top matches... They wouldve never imagined their all time best match would be at that age in the end. Beautiful ending.. Wish they kept it that way instead of that horrible tag match in saudi.
Honestly, I think it's the best match for both Shawn and Taker and of all time. It's memorizing watching it as a recap and more so in person.

I say this, Hogan v Rock was the greatest WRESTLEMANIA MATCH, but in terms of pure perfection and highest caliber of a match WWE has ever produced, MICHAELS V TAKER MANIA 25 WAS WWE'S GREATEST MATCH EVER PUT TO CAMERA.

i don't know if others agree, but it just drives me nuts when Shawn Michaels switched from tights to big leather chaps, and he just didn't look right in his second go around in the WWE, he could wrestle no doubt but it was like it was telegraphed motions, and Macho Man was my fav. wrestler and I always say soon as he switched to cowboy hats, shirts and streamers and cowboy boots, it wasn't the same, and ironically I think this match WM 25 between HBK and taker is the most overrated match right next to Steamboat Savage at 3, both good matches, great? no, IMO a great match was HBK badd blood 97, and tons more that don't get the attention, Macho Man Warrior wm7 that's a great match, and HBK was really good, but I don't ever want to hear fans say he was better than Hitman, he wasn't, if you like nachos and cheese and all the fixings and a cold coke HBK is your guy, if you like a steak dinner with a baked potato and a cold beer, that's Hitman, one was steak and the other was sizzle

I know I'm in the minority when I say I prefer the sequel. I like matches with a story to tell instead of a display of athleticism with not much else, and the sequel had more of that, whilst still featuring some kino spots.

What made HBK one of the greatest was not only his unparalleled ability inside the ring and his promo work but the fact he knew how to orchestrate himself perfectly... You'll never look at a match and say that HBK individually was a poor performance regardless of what he was portraying... Paired up with the Undertaker who very rarely has a bad match himself (especially at Mania)... They put on the perfect match and as we saw the following year (as good as it was) they couldn't match their previous encounter and that speaks volumes about what they produced at WM25.

It's in my top 25. But I am not a fan of HBKs work as much as other's. HBK is in my top 5-10. A great talent. Rushmore material even. But he wasn't an Angle or a Bret Hart or a Benoit or an Eddie Guerrero. He couldn't work the super matches the Hogan Stone Cold & The Rock & Andre. He fit somewhere between them all. He was more a Macho Man without the charisma/intensity, or a modern Flair without the heel ability. They just hated him because he looked gay. He didn't draw money as champ & because he was friends with the Kliq Vince choose him ever Bret which almost destroyed Vince because "those boys ..." Left to go to WCW & only HBK remained & he faked a back injury to carry the company when Vince needed him.
Basically he whined when he had the title that his ratings & buy rates were low. Refused to do jobs. Got Bret screwed. Didn't stop his friends from going to WCW. Retired UNTIL his friends came back & he was "magically" healed. Then by then everyone kinda forgot what a failure he was because they had these great memories & his boys were helping him make more.
HBK was always the most overrated ever. But he gave Hogan one of his best matches ever (no overselling in that match). That's just how he always did it. No one ever said he oversold that match until CZcams trolls rewrote history 10-15 years after the match. I was there in real time. It wasn't spoken about ONCE.
He gave Austin the reigns & let him do the work for the Attitude Era & he didn't even do most of the DX work. So just WTF did this guy do? His "sorta" associated with stuff but he was never "The Man." He was always the man who wrestled the man - much like his pal HHH. He gave Flair a great send off match. So I can't fault him there.
That's why I have him top 5-10. Probably 5th or 6th. His Barbershop angle was the beginning of the attitude era. Every kid remembers Janettey going through the glass.
But the way he had even Taker following him around to make sure he did things correctly during the 90s... He almost put Vince out of business & whyyyyy Vince choose him I'll never know.

After that it gets hard. You start having ato pick guys who were masters of 1 thing like Andre the Giant, Mick Foley, Harley Race, Gorgeous George, Lou Thesz, The Gold Dust Trio for their contributions alone etc.
But the older I get the lower HBK moves down the list. His style is stolen by more marks in the ring today like the Young Bucks & it looks so bad while the Bret Hart guys like FTR look so good. You can definitely see which style is timeless & which one was a flash in the pan & why WWF didn't draw with him on top. No one should have copied HBK. He is legit responsible for the death of pro wrestling & admitted to as much in his 2000 shoot interview. Which is why he is working to try to fix it in NXT.

I legitimately agree that it is the closest thing you could have to perfection for a wrestlemania match but it's not the wrestlemania or a wrestling fan in general because to me the perfect match was The Rock versus Stone cold for the last time at wrestlemania.
