Great video, hope you get lots more subscribers, you deserve it! And you have the best outdoor channel name ever, you can tell you have a good sense of humor - this system would help me in scouting, to be able to go deep into the woods without hauling a lot of junk, and get high in a tree to be able to view the surrounding area for spotting deer movement, then i could come back and hunt closer to the right spot once i've seen where the deer are traveling (maybe one day i'll be good enough to do that just looking for ground sign, but i'm not there yet)

Great video! A lot of very useful one sticking information. I'm going to give one sticking a shot next year. I'm genuinely interested in having it as another tool to hunt with.
I find it way easier to one stick. I hate dicking around at the tree setting up and getting 3 sticks ready then at the end take them all down. I did that for my first year, and then one sticked ever since.
I was worried about switching to one sticking, being a bigger guy (260) but I find it incredibly easy. People never understand how you climb while filming is a bit different than a hunting situation.
It takes a little physical ability but not much at all. If people struggle, just don't move your rappel rope up so high so it makes it easier bending down and grabbing your stick to move it up.
@@dickoutdoors yep, I didn’t find it to be physically more challenging than just traditional climbing. I realized once I started really trusting my gear, that things became significantly easier.

How do you get your repel rope down if you’re climbing over branches?
When you pull with the small attached rope, the main rope will fall till it hits the branch. Then just keep pulling and you will pull the loop end until the loose end pulls through the loop or carabiner end of the the rope.

In your video, you mention using a D-Link or Tri-Link. Im familiar with the replace a link that I believe your are calling the D-link but I have googled and googled Tri-Link and can not find the first anything on even identifying it using a ton of other helpful words.... I tried Dlink vs TriLink and gave up on D-Link because the results are only for a router and "Tri" xxxx pulls up nothing in the climbing realm. Pleas post photo, link or other description.

What is the needed things to start doing one stick? Rope, madrock?
A quick click for the rope and a Harken camcleat, then you'll be good to go.
A question for all the new tetherd lockdown users. Do you wear this over or under your heavy weight clothes come late season?
The saddle has to be worn over your clothes. The suspenders you can wear over or under your jacket. They also come off. Tethrd gives plenty of extra length in all the straps to be worn over anything you wear

Though sliding up a nice smooth oak makes this "easy."
Now, use this on a Douglas Fir, Western Pine, or any Western evergreen.

Already have a saddle and sticks, what is needed to one stick?
A rappel rope, quick link for the rappel rope, and a way to rappel down so a madrock or something similar. Then you'll be ready to go.

What size is the top pouch? On tethrd’s website they have M, L, XL. Do you know what yours is?

This is the one I use. doublesteps.com/product/ultimaider/ You can adjust both steps the exact same distance as your climbing stick. So while climbing it feels more natural

How do you get your rope down if there’s limbs on the tree?
If you keep pulling the paracord, it will pull the entire rope through the d link even if branches stop it. So no matter what, the rope always comes down.
Not if you’ve got a safety knot at the end of your rappelling rope. Hopefully you’re not climbing that high, but your knot won’t pass through.
My friend a quick link is a waist of time . Learn to use a running bowline or similar knot and throw away the quick link. Nice saddle 👍
Thanks I'll look into it. I think that might be a little to much friction for getting my rope down after though
How safe is the cam cleat?
That's definitely the weak link in all of this. On mine I upgraded the hardware to a stronger grade nut and bolt. I wouldn't trust the ones it came with.

I’m sorry but that’s a lot of movement especially trying to get close to a buck bed. I just don’t understand carry two more sticks. you’ll be surprised how low you could hunt and still kill mature deer especially because a lot of the mature deer like to hang out in areas with the little tiny trees ! get up there where the first cover is and you’re set! As long as you got some cover you would be surprised how low you could actually hunt and still kill deer! Believe me I used to be one of them guys that had to hunt 20 to 25 feet now I look for the first cover and that’s where I’m at. If you give it a try I willing to bet you’ll be pleasantly surprised

Ya it’s just another tool!!! Get good at one sticking and it’s just as quiet as multiple sticks. Perfect your system and all things can work for your needs.
I drop things too easily to do this safely. I'd lose my stick third step up and be chillin 😂 like an idiot
🤣 That would be an easy fix. Just rappel down and get whatever your drop. The real problem would be if you ever rappel down and looked up and realize you forgot your stick at the top of the tree with no way to get back up and get it 🤣🤣

@@haleycbrrrclimbing with a 2 action carabiner, trusting your whole weight on a single carabiner attached to your tree is just absurd. Throw a life line up a tree and tie a friction hitch that when when not of you fall you won’t die

@@jaydenfeese7373I weigh 260 and use this carabiner to hold my weight almost every day in a tree. I’ve never had or heard of an issue with one of those while saddle hunting.
