Was just in Barcelona had an amazing time!! The food is incredible.
+Justine Hietkamp amen to that! :)
what he didn't know is that he was pickpocketed during this video
Can't wait for more Barcelona videos.
Great tips. Thanks!
Excellent video.
Thanks.
I'm a new subscriber I found your videos as I'm going to Rome soon and wanted to learn a few things, thanks for all the awesome videos !
+Carl Stacey hey Carl. Thanks for subscribing. We have a few italy and older Rome videos on here. We will have new Rome videos coming out after the Olympics hope that's not too late to help.
Great city woltersworld , ps great videos as always enjoy watching , keep up the great work 👍
+Lorenzo La Bella thanks Lorenzo
Book in advance the Sagrada Familia entrance... I was there last month and it was super helpful, I didn't wait at all and it was in the middle of summer
Did anyone else notice the two dudes crossing the street at 1:00 ?
Subham Baldi OMG yes!
Lmao im dead 😂😂
I've been in Barcelona for two days now and I'm about to catch a train to Paris!
Hope you had fun
aha the line to get into the sagrada familia is so worth the wait though, it absolutely mind blowing. Great video!
+Joe D it is amazing on there
Barcelona is Spain.
Благодарю за интересное видео
Hey Wolters,
I love watching your videos!! They helped me out quite a bit when I took my trip to Shanghai last winter.. Please give us recommendations for visiting Turkey, Egypt and Dubai.
+Remshjgh22 sadly my experiences in those countries are rather limited and I wouldn't be able to give you any real good first hand recommendations :(
love watching your video
Thank you Rachel!
I was in Barcelona the other week, I miss it so much :(
Merci! 👍
+Tosh T any time my friend
Thanks a lot!
Great video Wolt - I find that Barcelona feels different from Spain in a number of ways. Maybe it's because of where it is and by comparison I tend to stay on the south coast of Spain. In many ways it feel like a totally different place :)
+Places 2 Go Travel I know what you mean
Couldn't disagree more with the Sagrada Familiar, the interior is breathtaking, worth any wait.
A correction: Barça means FC Barcelona (the team). Bcn or Barna means Barcelona (the city)
2:44 Barça refers to the football club. Barcelona's nickname is Barna 😉
Awesome country 😇
Great list, but one thing I disagree with is to not worry too much about seeing Sagrada Familia from the inside. Inside it is INCREDIBLE and honestly not to be missed. It's easy to book online to avoid the queues and you can just show your ticket on your smartphone to get in.
thx
Cava bars?! Now I want to go there! My friend from Madrid uses Cava in his sangria. Maybe he learned it in Barcelona. So good, and the only way I like sangria bubbly. :)
+Nubianette me too. After cava sangria you just can't go back :)
Hi! I'm catalan, I was born in Barcelona and I live in barcelona's province. Got some tips too. Don't call Barcelona or catalonia spain or spanish, specially to locals, we are in a big political non violent battle for the independence, and know, after octobert first 2017, it's an even more delicate issue.
The other tip, if you want to go to the beach, don't go to Barcelona, go to the Costa Barava (Girona's coast). Oh! Talikng about Girona, it's an incredible city, you must go there in may for the "temps de flors" festival, where all streets are fild with flower arrangements. It's awesome!
I hope I can visit this city someday.
+Jane Garcia it is well worth it of you can get there.
Good job :)
you have to do more videos about spain
Barcelona is Spain, what are you talking about saying it’s not? Texans obviously feel passionately about their state, but they are still Americans.
Thank u
Just left to Madrid from Barcelona. Wish I would have seen this...
+PezDazed my bad :( sorry buddy
When I was there, I got in the Sagrada Familia very fast!
+YeahJumper94 you were luckier than me. Good to know there is some slow times where you can get right in. When did you go?
I was there May 19th.
We needed 20 minutes to buy the tickets; we got them at 11AM but they were valid to enter 3 hours later, at 2PM. While "waiting", we visited something else, moving with the subway. But then, at 2PM, we went straight in, no waiting line.
I guess that you could easily avoid any problem booking the ticket online.
Just got back from Barcelona...you can order tickets online for Sagrada Familia and Park Guel....pick your time and skip the lines!
I would also say that the pickpocketing and aggressive panhandling gets MUCH worse at night, I left La Rambla early because it was too much for me.
+Solange Jolie very true. I have it in another barca video because it's like they knick you over asking/demanding money
Awesome vids! I love them, how do you travel so much with $$??
In Spain there are so many cities which different and even opposite culture... You have Madrid and Barcelona, Bilbao and Seville, Oviedo and Gijón, Santander and León, Santiago and Toledo, Segovia, Granada, Valencia... And that´s only in the peninsula, then there´s also the canary and the balear islands, both full of things to explore.
I'm in Barcelona now and your tips really hit the mark. Thanks! Btw, are you planning any trips to Australia or New Zealand in the future?
I thought for a moment you were saying "topless bar" :P
But yeah, tapas is a must. Love Barcelona, have been multiple times. Worth going just for all the crazy Gaudi architecture.
+Memorandom somebody has a naughty mind :)
Eh~ I actually thought the same, for a second.
I was like: _"..really-- topless bars? How come I wasn't aware~"_
You can get time tickets online for the Sagrada Familia, really saves a lot of waiting time in line :)
+Ella K. I put that in an annotation but forgot that they don't show up on mobile :( thanks for bringing it up in comments! Thanks!
which city do you like better Madrid or Barcelona?
Hi! I will have a layover in Barcelona for about 4.5 hrs given that we weren’t delayed getting in. I’d love to leave the airport & checkout the scene while we are there, any tips for the short layover and leaving our carry on luggage at the airport while we explore?
My very first Spanish teacher was from Barcelona. Cuídense los bolsillos. ¡Saludos!
Upgrade to tip no. 3: Or just come in February as I did. Sea is cold but everything else is just fine and there are much less tourists.
thc
Numero UNO - Catalunia is SPAIN
I love your videos, but think you should let people know that they can make reservations online for Sagrada Familia. It is stunning inside and to just walk by it and not see it from the inside would be a shame.
Thank you for the tips! Off to Barcelona on Saturday can't wait.
+Sophie Bertrand Dure awesome. Have a fun trip!
Mark is utterly obsessed with food!
+Stephanie G guilty as charged ;)
Well, I always love your food pics. Yours truly from a fellow foodie :-)
I will got there for 5 days
When you go to dubai?
Visited Barcelona in August, loved it, even did the Camp Nou Experience. Sagrada Familia's queue wasn't very long. Bought my ticket the same day, did some shopping, had lunch and stood in the line for about 5 minutes. I think you pronounced "Cava " incorrectly.
Hi, I have wanted to visit Barcelona (or, as the locals say "Barthelona") so thanks for making this video. I also think the Catalans appreciate you for acknowledging Barcelona's distinct Catalonian culture and language :-) Happy Travels.
acknowledging? it was more like a warning about the political views of some more than useful tips and suggestions . when traveling to Spain or any region in the country as a tourist who give a "S" about this? They don't care about what you my think about the topic. THis may lead youto have unwelcome conversations with the locals.
Carlos El Gato All I said was that I thought it was good for him to acknowledge Barcelona as a Catalan city.
Ignasi Planas Villalba Well Ignasi, you are Spanish as well.
I would love to see the Sagrada Familia, a lot of people think it's ugly I am not one of them I think it's kind of cool it beats a lot of those round churches from the seventies we have here in America
You can buy tickets online to the Sagrada Familia with a specific time on them and skip the line. Same goes for Park Guell and most of the major attractions. That should have been the tip number one.
+Thomas Strömberg meant to put that in the subtitle part. Dang it. Thanks for commenting on that. I will put in an annotation.
The same goes for the Vatican Museums in Rome - you should always check to see if you can book tickets for these places online and skip the lines.
+Memorandom amen true. I'm actually editing my 10 shocks of the Vatican right now and I am putting in that tip. It's so true. We usually take early entry private tours to get a bit more time with a few thousand less people :)
Is it expensive?
Hey, Mark! I'm going to visit Berlin very soon and was wondering if you have any recommendations for food apart from the usual suspects like sausages, sauerkraut and beer. Since it's a multicultural city and not your typical German city, I 'll probably try foods from different corners of the world but would still like to discover more German food. Keep up the good work! :)
+Chara Ν actually Berlin isn't so good for Herman food to be honest. Kreuk burg has some good Turkish and greek restaurants.
Ok i find it hard to believe that you couldn't find a picture for "botifarra amb seques" also it's "crema catalana" not "crema de catalan"
We didnt face any pick pocketing . And you dont have to wait for any line for visiting places . you just pay few more and skip the line with the tour guide or with golden ticket and for the food go to best places which has more stars on google map then you chose from the pictures and i didnt even use the menu because i dont understand what it says and foods are delicious in tapas and mediterranean restaurants
All the regions of Spain have different mentalities than the others Catalunya is not the only unique region..not trying to insult just pointing this out
Matt Owen Ok.... lol
They also have a different language...
...Just like South America...Everyone is Different.....Like Chile vs Argentina....Or Uruguay vs Argentina...Latinos are different too...
is not a church it's a basilica
I am FC Barcelona fan
same
...Barcelona is Spain Wolters....I can asure you: I was born here. As every region does, Catalonia has its peculiarities, for instance, the lenguage. Catalan is spoken in Pais Valencià, Balearic Islands and some parts of Aragón ans is protected by Constitution, just like Castillian. Despite of political opinions, that is a geo-political reality.
Apart from that, I love your channel. Cheers!
Hi Wolter. I speak 8 languages including Spanish. I know some Catalan as well. Would you be interested in learning Spanish or some Catalan? I'm an online tutor.
Megan I am interested can you send details pls
Hello Usman. This is my website. megan-de-perros-online-tutoring-services.com/welcome
Do you want me to teach you Spanish or another language?
It's amazing how police in Europe don't give a shit abot fixing the pickpocketing problem.
I think it is so common that they don't have the time or personnel to deal with it properly so they just go through the motions for the most part.
+Mehul Jain in the US it's almost non existent, Pickpocket in that is. Now in your face mugging with a gun we have that in the US :(
"in your face mugging with a gun..."
LOL so true!
I'll take the pickpocket any day. U.S. is renowned for violent crimes.
Is a law's problem. The pickpokets are all from another countries, very problematic.
Jajajja jajajja, some footage was from lizaran
Wolter please don't miss lead people, Barcelona is in Spain they are Spanish. There si not catalán or Spanish food. Every región in the country has it own food etc. Dont feed Those people who want to brake everything apart.. It seems like the pay you to say this man, seriously .
+Carlos El Gato I said it's in spain it just has a different vibe. Like Galicia has a different vibe. Don't worry I love spain more than Catalunya
+Wolters World Cataluña is part of Spain anyways....and for those who tell you that Cataluña was a country..not true it was a county that belonged to the kingdom of Aragon. any body who goes to Barcelona will get along just fine if the speak castillian.
So what if it never was a country? Is that a requirement to becoming an independent state?
1st go to camp nou
Cataluña is Spain
I'm from there and this is TOTALLY right, in my opinion, all what he says is correct :) (Catalonia IS spain, but doesn't feels like that, just my own opinion)
+Lucky_Blue that's what I meant. Wish I would have said that better. All the best on your travels lucky!
+Wolters World Hehe thank you so much :) I love your videos
It is Spain until now at least lol
Barcelona feels mols Spain than Catalonia. The rest of Catalonia maybe does. But Barcelona it's total spanish
Get the tomato bread!
+kleanne58 I'm on it ;)
Pà amb tomàquet
"Catalan food is just like Spanish food but a little mroe heavy" Sorry but no man, visit asturias, visit Galicia and then tell me. I do not mean your video is wrong or something... but that is not true! Catalan food is mainly mediterranean food (very light compared with the food from the mountains and the north)
You don't know anything about catalan food, for sure.
barcelona is in spain for your information..
Did you go in front of my house??
+Jón Logi Laetano Frímannsson sorry, I didn't think the cava would go through me so fast ;)
Trie Russia, too :)
+MrMoccachinoo we were supposed to go this summer but it fell through :(
+Wolters World oh no.. I'm sorry for that..
Tip #1 is wrong. Barcelona and Catalonia ARE Spain, for all purposes. We speak Spanish (and Catalan). Catalonia is a Spanish region. Concerning your comment on "mañana" implying that the rest of Spain doesn't work as hard as Catalonia, it's the typical nationalist argument they use. And it's false. Catalonia was a very industrial region but benefited from huge amounts of State public spending, unlike other regions. And the average Andalusian work as much hours as the Catalan one. So stop those clichés.
barcelona is not spain??
Doped again Barcelona is Spain ,of course! only the nazionalist Catalan people things that way
You all know who the real "nazi" here is...
Hay que leer más
They stole my bike in day ligth, if you go to barcelona chek out sitges
You have no idea about Barcelona. Please, don't speak if you don't really know
*says Tip #1*
Oh boy, here they come
Love how the comments are full of annoyed nationalists and jumpy independentists, thank you so much for this video
Castillian would be the proper term for Spaniards that do not belong to one of the minority groups. The constitution of Spain refers to them as being Spanish well their languages at least, which is why in Spain they don't say Español, well some people do but usually they say Castellano. You have to understand Spain is not a country it's a bit like Italy, it's a bunch of people forced to tolerate each other some of which do not like that fact
I will stick to the rest of Spain, I keep out of Cataluña, Thanks
Barcelona IS Spain.....
Technically it's Spain, but it might as well not be.
well, I am spaniard, so I know it is, even the last vote most of the population opted for options that defend remaining in Spain....so.
I think he is speaking more from a cultural point of view and not a political or geographical.
It's kind of the same as me saying that Bavaria is not Germany even though of course I know it technically is...
+Matt Owen Yes.
Barcelona IS Spain. You need to go out more.
Just to shed light on “the Barcelona IS or IS NOT Spain” issue: In comparison, Catalonia is like Puerto Rico. It’s not a state of the US, but a teritory. Puerto Ricans can move freely in and out of the US Mainland and their current President is also Trump. Just the same with Catalonia. Perdro Sanchez, is their Prime Minister, who is basically the PM of Spain.
I LOVE the way you started this video! #catalunyaisnotspain
Marta Flotats but Cataluña is Spain. we don't like Nazionalist Catalan.
Juan Carlos Gimenez, it's so easy to understand from your response why catalans want to leave spain.
Te lo escribo en castellano.Senicillp los nacionalistas catalanes,no los catalanes. no hables por todos ellos. No nos gustan y no queremos a los Nazionalistas catalanes en España,fuera!!!!!
But why would you say "Nazionalist"? From all we get here, they just made massive demonstrations. I mean, did they kill anybody, or did anything similar to the nazis?
Barcelona IS SPAIN !!!!!!
So Catalonia is not Spain just because YOU decide it! Lovely! First of all Mr. American guide, learn a bit more about my country before making such a statement that you wouldn’t dare to make about your own country. Secondly you should know by now that regionalism is a sensitive issue in Spain, so you should tell your readers and viewers to avoid all sort of regional issue in their conversation in Spain, including Catalunya which IS also Spain. You let me down completely. I will never rely on your videos anymore because it shows a great lack of prudence and carefulness. Greetings!
Ate U saying than my city, Barcelona, it's not spain? Bullshit
Be prepared to lose your wallet thanks to insane amount of thieves. And since there's no penalty for pickpocketing it's just getting worse and worse.
Barcelona is in Spain, they just want their independence but haven't got it yet...so technically still part of Spain
What are you talking about? How long have you been in Barcelona? Barcelona IS SPAIN. Always was and always will be. You need to get your facts right before you start talking about something.
Tourist go home!!
Actually he made the good decision saying "Barcelona is NOT Spain". Although nowadays is a city inside Spain, in less than 1 year it will already become the capital of the independent country called Catalonia (Catalunya). So in 1 year this video will make more sense :)
PS: I'm a Catalan from Barcelona. In our last elections (2015) in Catalonia the most voted party was the pro-independence one, and the majority of the Parliament is pro-independence. According to the plan proposed by our president (Carles Puigdemont) our nation Catalonia will become an independent country in 2017.
Aleixpb2 Yes the capital of pickpockets!!!! Jaja
Aleixpb2 2018 and Catalonia still belongs to Spain. Nostradamus
Catalonia is not different xD is Spain
Is Catalan
