    Great video Wolt - I find that Barcelona feels different from Spain in a number of ways. Maybe it's because of where it is and by comparison I tend to stay on the south coast of Spain. In many ways it feel like a totally different place :)

    Great list, but one thing I disagree with is to not worry too much about seeing Sagrada Familia from the inside. Inside it is INCREDIBLE and honestly not to be missed. It's easy to book online to avoid the queues and you can just show your ticket on your smartphone to get in.

    Hi! I'm catalan, I was born in Barcelona and I live in barcelona's province. Got some tips too. Don't call Barcelona or catalonia spain or spanish, specially to locals, we are in a big political non violent battle for the independence, and know, after octobert first 2017, it's an even more delicate issue.
    The other tip, if you want to go to the beach, don't go to Barcelona, go to the Costa Barava (Girona's coast). Oh! Talikng about Girona, it's an incredible city, you must go there in may for the "temps de flors" festival, where all streets are fild with flower arrangements. It's awesome!

    • @YeahJumper94
      @YeahJumper94 Před 8 lety

      I was there May 19th.
      We needed 20 minutes to buy the tickets; we got them at 11AM but they were valid to enter 3 hours later, at 2PM. While "waiting", we visited something else, moving with the subway. But then, at 2PM, we went straight in, no waiting line.
      I guess that you could easily avoid any problem booking the ticket online.

You have Madrid and Barcelona, Bilbao and Seville, Oviedo and Gijón, Santander and León, Santiago and Toledo, Segovia, Granada, Valencia... And that´s only in the peninsula, then there´s also the canary and the balear islands, both full of things to explore.

      acknowledging? it was more like a warning about the political views of some more than useful tips and suggestions . when traveling to Spain or any region in the country as a tourist who give a "S" about this? They don't care about what you my think about the topic. THis may lead youto have unwelcome conversations with the locals.

Catalan is spoken in Pais Valencià, Balearic Islands and some parts of Aragón ans is protected by Constitution, just like Castillian. Despite of political opinions, that is a geo-political reality.

    Tip #1 is wrong. Barcelona and Catalonia ARE Spain, for all purposes. We speak Spanish (and Catalan). Catalonia is a Spanish region. Concerning your comment on "mañana" implying that the rest of Spain doesn't work as hard as Catalonia, it's the typical nationalist argument they use. And it's false. Catalonia was a very industrial region but benefited from huge amounts of State public spending, unlike other regions. And the average Andalusian work as much hours as the Catalan one. So stop those clichés.

    Castillian would be the proper term for Spaniards that do not belong to one of the minority groups. The constitution of Spain refers to them as being Spanish well their languages at least, which is why in Spain they don't say Español, well some people do but usually they say Castellano. You have to understand Spain is not a country it's a bit like Italy, it's a bunch of people forced to tolerate each other some of which do not like that fact

    Just to shed light on “the Barcelona IS or IS NOT Spain” issue: In comparison, Catalonia is like Puerto Rico. It’s not a state of the US, but a teritory. Puerto Ricans can move freely in and out of the US Mainland and their current President is also Trump. Just the same with Catalonia. Perdro Sanchez, is their Prime Minister, who is basically the PM of Spain.

    So Catalonia is not Spain just because YOU decide it! Lovely! First of all Mr. American guide, learn a bit more about my country before making such a statement that you wouldn’t dare to make about your own country. Secondly you should know by now that regionalism is a sensitive issue in Spain, so you should tell your readers and viewers to avoid all sort of regional issue in their conversation in Spain, including Catalunya which IS also Spain. You let me down completely. I will never rely on your videos anymore because it shows a great lack of prudence and carefulness. Greetings!

    Actually he made the good decision saying "Barcelona is NOT Spain". Although nowadays is a city inside Spain, in less than 1 year it will already become the capital of the independent country called Catalonia (Catalunya). So in 1 year this video will make more sense :)
    PS: I'm a Catalan from Barcelona. In our last elections (2015) in Catalonia the most voted party was the pro-independence one, and the majority of the Parliament is pro-independence. According to the plan proposed by our president (Carles Puigdemont) our nation Catalonia will become an independent country in 2017.
