- Fletch travels to the Clunes in Victoria for the 40th anniversary of the 1st Mad Max movie, released in January 1979. This iconic movie was produced for a modest $300,000, back then the actors and producers didn't realise that it would receive the cult status that it has today with followers in Japan, the US and across the world. At the 40th Anniversary celebrations, Fletch caches up with Stunt rider Dale Bensch who was killed in the movie but lived to tell the tale and Steve Bisley who played Jim Goose in the film. Steve says there was no CGI back then, all the action was live as it happened, so incredibly dangerous for all involved.
The cars were the heroes in Mad Max and none more than the MFP Interceptor, we have an original from the movie a 1973 XA Ford Falcon V8 with owner Mark and a replica owned by Jeff, an XB Ford Falcon rebuilt as a tribute to the film, as if it came out of the factory - fully restored and in concourse condition. These cars have great memories even today after 40 years for fans of the Mad Max film. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
"Mad Max" & "The Road Warrior" were two of my favorite movies when I was a kid. "Interceptor" is the best car name ever. Cheers from America!
Changed my life in a big way. Have been car and bike mad since.
The Night Rider, that is his name, The Night Rider remember him when you look at the night sky....
Actually it's knightrider
Toecutter famous line
Not much of him is there
We will...
Anything you say.
Max seems to represent the best of us and the worst of us...When justice doesn't prevail we see the badge fade away and justice is taken into his own hands. Sometimes bad things must be done to purge the evil.. Mad Max Forever !!!! Texas Loves Max and The MFP !!!! The last of the V-8's~~ \m/
My favourite car since I was a 8 when I sneaked into my neighbor's house and watched Mad Max behind my parents back I've seen it hundreds of times now and I still think it's cool 😎
This movie is why I bought a 79 kz1000. Fa la la🎶
What a FANTASTIC feature. Cheers from the USA.
Interesting. I am a Canadian who lived in Victoria for a year (81-82). I went to school in Geelong. At the time, I had not yet seen MM, but we did see MM 2 when it came out (Mum wasn't impressed). I never realized until now that we, as a family, drove across that iconic bridge passing through Little River enroute to Melbourne.
We love you guy’s down there, keep your freedom and fight for it with all your heart
Love the movie, adore the characters and action. Great to meet the burnout king - Dale Bensch! .
This movie never gets old. First saw it at a drive-in when I was 15, when it was released in the Us.
Best movie ever...
fantastic time making these movies , none of that crap cgi rubbish what u see is real how times have changed !
Fantastic clip great to see and attach
Cemented my love for cars at the tender age of 8, over the years the Holden HQ has become my favorite. Americans love this movie, beautiful cars boys, thank you for the video Fletch, great work.
MAD MAX is on one of our movie chanels all this month. I watch it once a year at the very least.
Fantastic episode, wish it was much longer.
I was there at the 40th anniversary with my dad, he was in the film. It was a great event.
I was at the premier party/piss up 40 years ago too. Mel had a few that night.
I was inspired by Shelby and Miller to design the retro-mustang in '87. Left Ford in '92. Can you imagine my frustration? Even now, I can run IC on mostly water. I'll be long dead before anyone notices it works.
Bwah- haha !😂 The way Fletch says "petty cool" in his best radio announcer's voice! 😂
Yes I love this movie it is absolutely my favorite movie ever
@10:41 - That thing in there....that ain't the Goose, no way. LOL
It's so crazy how all the locations still look the same.
O inesquecível MAD MAX ..da AUSTRÁLIA para o mundo.um dos melhores filmes já produzido..pela sétima arte...sou FÃ de MAD MAX..um filme que marcou uma GERAÇÃO 🇧🇷🇧🇷
This is one of the greatest behind the scenes documentaries I've seen of the original Mad Max movie. Thanks to whoever put it together.
They call him "Fletch".
I was wondering when Fletch will talk about the Mad Max Interceptor. Good job.
My sister went to Aussie in 1980 and came back to NZ with the Mad Max vhs tape which was promptly impounded by NZ customs as questionable material and was returned a year later ,we she got the tape home we played it and it was terrible quality to my sisters dismay and she checked the tape as she worked in a video rental and she saw the tape had been played hundreds if not thousands of times during its custody in the NZ Customs .Due to that movie I ened up buying a XC Gxl Fairmont with a 351 clevo and i was the MFP in my XC instead of a XB lol ,sadly it left the road and flew a bit straight into a big blue gum tree ,i walked away but sadly car was dead
...Wonderful Youth Memories ...
This is a threshold moment Johnny.

If I had that MFP car I would drive back and forth around Melbourne area all day. I would even park by the road just to see people's faces :)
We could use a bit of MFP right about now with our scags & floozies.

When the gangs take over the highway's. Remember he's on your side Mad Max the greatest cop ever
That is his name The Night-Rider .
One of my Fav Movies.
I always wanted the Interceptor, everyone always raved about the black on Black but if you remember the start of the film the first police car had pursuit written on the boot lid, the first cop calls in help from Max, in his Interceptor.. max flips some switches on the roof and sets off..
My favourite movie 😊
See ya on the road scag !!!
Goose-Like we saw the Nightrider.
Johnny- Remember the Nightrider and we know who you are.
I drive for O'Reilly Auto Parts and said that to one of the other older drivers but he had no idea what I was talking about...shame on him
Like we saw the Night Rider. Remember the Nightrider when u look at the night sky.
@@vegansaxon3962 Educate him.

Can't wait to catch up with Dale at WWH mate weekend.. It's gonna be the ducks guts.
Anything I say ,that’s a wonderful philosophy you have ,take him away chcccccccc
Anyone else love them lookin dirty and knocked around rather than pristine?
Why wouldn't the Japanese love a movie filled with kz1000s. 😃
For some reason i always thought it was a chevy kommando or constansia.
Never knew it was a ford even though my dad had one.
14:58 seems Steve had a few by the sound of his voice and the red face :)
Remember him...
Mad Max Крута!
Where's Bubba?...he must be the Sid Barrett of Mad max
"Must have cut his heart out...eh"

( Max turns around to see goose making a goofy face🤤)
WHEN DO WE TAKE A RIDE!!!
Good on you guys for doing this I hope it wasn't too big of an ask to have the people involved come and talk to you about this their true icons of the automotive cinema industry history!!!!!👍

The best Yellow MFP Interceptor tribute car is in Japan, the thing is mad.

" Don't give up on the the Goose until you see the box going into the hole!!"

Hello author!Did you shoot this video in Australia?

@@randomdude4669Плохо разбираюсь в акцентах мистер я русский !
Did they overdub Mike Ditka's voice with an Aussie actor?
Last of the v8s
Steves a bit tipsy so what , im a bit disappointed that mel didnt turn up for the 40 th and catch up with some of his old mates .
Anything you say
No interview with the Goose's girlfriend that sang in the club?
Licorice road
It’s the last of the v8’s
Sux nitrous!
A piece of history
All of the XA falcons on mad max were ex Melbourne taxis 6 cylinders none were V8 only max car and the interceptor had v8s
There was only One XA falcon and that was a Taxi. The big Bopper car was a Melbourne Metro Pursuit car and Max's Yellow Interceptor was a genuine Hume Highway Victorian Interceptor.
Why wan getting a quote I can't get one for a car older the 1980 ??
Hi there Mikey, we can cover many older cars, it just depends on the model. Please give our specialists a call on 13 46 46 and they'll be able to provide you with options. - Maddy
The Americans don't even know mel Gibson that well in movies like I do here mel Gibson is always will be a Australian actor anyway
The best Australian actor born in NYC. Lol. Now here in USA we have Brits and Aussies play all our characters. Weird kawinkydink
Can someone tell me what helmet that is
Didn't it have an Italia sticker on the back ?
I believe it was a original Bell Star.
デイルベンチT shirt欲しい
The XA wasnt a V8. The Pursuit Special was a 302 & Max`s 4 door Interceptor was a 351 but the 302 was worked & it beat the 351.
It wasn't worked it had a high diff ratio for Metropolitan duties.Max's Yellow car and the Black Interceptor would murder the Bopper out on the highway. Learn your Police and Movie cars.
@@scarto3887 You might wanna go learn the history of the cars. The mechanic doing the cars in the movie knows the truth & it was worked. Are you calling him & Australian Muscle Car Magazine liars ?
@@rodneyjones4890 Australian Muscle Car took a few liberties on the history yes.I personally have known all the Stunt guys and car builders for decades.....especially Marray Smith. You wanna roll the dice man ? You're what we call a Newbie, you've missed the boat Sport. The Bopper was a Metro car and quick from 0 to 100,the engine was stock not worked. The Quality control on Police cars better.Balanced engines were not of the rotating variety, they just took more care in matching piston/rod weight. How do i know ? My father worked at Skunk works for years ie a division of Ford for special engines and vehicles.Notice the door trims and rubber mat floors in the cars ? Have a think abiut that and it's to do with budget. What else ya got man ?
No disrespect to uncle George but seriously the sequels are progressively getting worse & worse.
Hey the first 1 was brutal, savage, suspenseful & adrenalin charged. An instant Aussie cult classic. 10/10. 2 & 3 were borderline. No 4 was absolute total & utter tripe!!
You do not hotrod 4 doors. Looks tackey.
I am a nightrider baby
No that would be Crawford Montizano/ Night Rider aka Vince Gill. He does a cameo in the Dark Clouds MFP film clip.
He's lying he's actually dead
Yea, you can tell he's lying the way he is being truthful
