    note that 5.27 is here in the coming days. it hads saturn for rpi4, custom screen resolution by system/games, manual scrapping (reserve one evening to reread all the game manuals you loved when you were a child) among others. you can upgrade from the batocera once released, or even already try it by selecting beta channel on the upgrade screen.

    I find trying to set up Batocera for Pi 4 very much a mess. the initial install usually goes fine (inc setting up controller) but on later boot ups, often it doesnt recognise the controller (replugging it in doesnt help, so you have to unplug the plug, this seems to end up corrupting the instal sometimes) and trying to plug an external HDD (HDD or SSD) sometimes recognises and again more often than not doesnt. get the basics right (recognise the controller every time & storage media). Ive wasted days messing about trying to resolve this & repeatedly re-installing (on both SD & USB media to boot from) again, both work occasionally, but thats just not good enough. no one seems to mention this, and I have tried multiple installs, multiple controllers and multiple drives.

    Hello Wagner.
    I absolutely love your walk through videos.
    You indirectly helped me get my RG350M up and running and on its way to the fully customized system it is today, so I have a lot of trust in your suggestions and instructions. When I decided I wanted to get a raspberry pi 4 with batocera installed as a retro gamer for my kids room and I saw this video, I had to check it out.
    Glad I did..
    Now I do have questions about the pi4 though.
    When building a retro system, is higher ram required?
    I was thinking of possibly getting the 2gb or 4gb variants of the 4, but not sure if it'll be enough. I am just building a small box to mount on the back of the TV and looking to use a set of wireless controllers with it. I figure that will give the kids the system they want and keep it out of the way of their little sisters little hands.
    Any advice?
    Would the 2gb variant work?
    What about the 4gb model?
    Any suggestions on wireless controllers? It's hard to find a decent set that has low input lag.

      Hi Joseph, thank you so much! Very happy to hear the videos have been helpful to you. Regarding RAM, CPU is more important and therefor 2GB/4GB should be just fine. I actually do answer this question (and others) on my RPi4 Gaming page. Here's a direct link so you don't have to hunt for it: wagnerstechtalk.com/rpi4gaming/#Common_Questions . Regarding controllers, there are a lot to choose from and that's one area I've neglected a bit. I do have a few recommendations down below that I've purchased and use. Hope this helps!

  • @therexershow
    @therexershow Před 4 lety +1

    It’s a good image/front end. Very similar to Retropie . The question is which one do you prefer for Rpi4 and does this batocera image have more or less core options as the Supreme pro images or the official Retropie image.

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  Před 4 lety

      Tough questions Rex 😀 I'm much more familiar/experienced with RetroPie that I am with Batocera. However, there are many options that I'm not familiar with just yet and understand a 5.27 Batocera build will be released soon with even more. All are good images, including Supreme Pro. At this point, I've not formed any opinion as there is still much more to learn.
