I read a lot online that said I should chose neutral/natural colors to blend in with the environment on Safari, but that ended up totally not being a factor. Don’t stress about the colors; the most important considerations are HEAT and SUN. You’ll want to have a hat and sunglasses on 24/7, and long pants and sleeves will help with the coverage.
In some areas of the Safari, the flies were really bad, so it’s preferable to wear a lightweight long sleeve. The long-sleeve shirts I brought were definitely too hot for me, so I switched to wearing tank tops after the first day, but had to keep a close eye on sunscreen. Some in our group had success with fishing shirts??? Apparently that’s a good way to get long sleeve but really lightweight fabric.
Of the other tourists I saw, the most fashionable outfits were deffffff the girls wearing loose button-up shirts in white or light blue. I’m not a button-up shirt gal personally but it looked reaaallly cute on the other gals I spotted!
The camps we stayed in were surprisingly cushy and I DID end up wearing my cute dinner dresses and jumpsuits. I regretted not bringing sandals though, I’d suggest packing something that works for the beach/pool and also for nicer dinner outfits.
I brought shorts, but that was NOT the move 😅 Since you’re jostling around in a Safari truck most of the time, you definitely want to be in loose, long cargo pants that are as lightweight as possible. Also, wearing shorts in Zanzibar was culturally inappropriate, so I’d recommend a different option if you’re walking in Stone City.
