    M Night Shyamalan's trilogy consisting of Unbreakable (2000), Split (2016) and now Glass (2019) has finally concluded, and that means it's time for me, CZsWorld, to conclude my own trilogy of Eastrail 177 Things You Missed.
    In this video I'll be breaking down the last entry, Glass. Glass contains a lot of hints and foreshadowing about the ending, though it's a bit more difficult to understand than Unbreakable and Split. I'll be highlighting all of those Things You (May Have) Missed and doing an in depth discussion about the black clover tattoo society / organization later on in the video.
    I'll also analyse the characters and their roles from the hero, David Dunn (The Overseer), to Kevin Wendell Crumb (The Horde) to Elijah Price (Mr. Glass) and discussing how they were important and speak to the themes that the story presents. Joseph Dunn, Casey Cooke and Mrs. Price also play important roles in this film, so I'll be talking about them as well. Even M Night Shyamalan's cameo appearance as Jai has a greater significance than you might have anticipated.
    I'll also be highlighting the references and obscure connections to Split and Unbreakable, talking about the meaning behind filmmaking techniques used in the movie like inverted perspective and glass mirror reflections and so much more. This is one of the most packed Things You Missed episodes yet!

    About Glass
    M. Night Shyamalan brings together the narratives of two of his standout originals-2000’s Unbreakable, from Touchstone, and 2016’s Split, from Universal-in one explosive, all-new comic-book thriller: Glass.
    From Unbreakable, Bruce Willis returns as David Dunn as does Samuel L. Jackson as Elijah Price, known also by his pseudonym Mr. Glass. Joining from Split are James McAvoy, reprising his role as Kevin Wendell Crumb and the multiple identities who reside within, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Casey Cooke, the only captive to survive an encounter with The Beast.
    Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.
    Joining the all-star cast are Unbreakable’s Spencer Treat Clark and Charlayne Woodard, who reprise their roles as Dunn’s son and Price’s mother, as well as Golden Globe Award winner Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story series).
    This riveting culmination of his worldwide blockbusters is produced by Shyamalan and Blumhouse Production’s Jason Blum, who also produced the writer/director’s previous two films for Universal. They produce again with Ashwin Rajan and Marc Bienstock, and Steven Schneider and Kevin Frakes, who executive produce. Gary Barber and Roger Birnbaum also serve as executive producers.
    A Blinding Edge Pictures and Blumhouse production, Glass will be released by Universal Pictures in North America on January 18, 2019, and by Buena Vista International abroad.

    We were all wrong.. We missed the ultimate twist... David was not Elijahs opposite.. It was Kevin..
    Elijah = Strong Mind; Broken Body
    Kevin = Broken Mind; Strong Body
    Kevin is the exact opposite of Elijah.. David is the "anomaly" he is the balancing force.. And technically Elijah also created/turned Kevin in the Beast...

      Yeah but David and Glass are still opposites as well, Glass’s greatest weakness is his bones, they are as fragile as can be and can break from a touch and Dunn’s greatest strength is his bones are literally unbreakable

    • @WakenerOne
      @WakenerOne Před 5 lety +62

      Try _this_ on for size: When everyone considers the title _Unbreakable,_ they always point to David's unbreakable body versus Elijah's fragile one. But Dr. Staple was able to cause David and several of Kevin's alters - including _Patricia and Dennis, the founding members of The Horde,_ to doubt the veracity of their metahuman abilities. The only person she never got to for a moment was Elijah.
      She wasn't able to _break_ Elijah.
      Who's "unbreakable" *_now???_*

    • @johnnybravo8129
      @johnnybravo8129 Před 5 lety +9

      WakenerOne I mean that’s an interesting theory but the movie is called unbreakable because David’s bones are literally unbreakable. Also you said they never got to Elijah for a moment or made him doubt himself. That’s false. He admits himself at the end of the movie that they almost had him convinced he was crazy. After David’s son tells the beast the truth about his fathers death, mr glass says “don’t you see I created you, it just took a little longer. 19 years, they almost had me convinced I was crazy” and you can see the way he cracks up with a smile and tears because even he began to doubt himself.

    M nights grounded superhero trilogy is flat out poetic in every way; this man should be very proud of what he had accomplished from unbreakable to glass, everything has come full circle. If Night was in my presence right now, I would shake his hand because I and many others appreciate the stories he tells because of their deeper meanings and there’s always people shitting on him because of societies’ set expectations when it comes to shattering the *glass* to take risks, but that doesn’t mean every other superhero movie should be condemned, if it’s great it should be rewarded of its success but, m. Night has taught be that nobody should be afraid to take risks because something very poetic could come out the other side.

    I do wish you had pointed out how the supporting characters all have heroic moments entirely in keeping with their attitudes throughout the whole series. Mrs. Price (who does a perfect job showing that though she is horrified by what her son has done, still loves him) is clearly key in figuring out Elijah's plan and getting it to Casey and Joseph. Casey shows that she is immune to the power of The Beast and seeks him out - not to hurt the Beast or his Horde, but to once and for all do what they could not. She does not protect Kevin, she strengthens him, just as he strengthened her. And Joseph . . . what can I say? How many people missed this??? In Unbreakable, he tries to stand up to bullies messing with a schoolmate. He realizes that he's not like his dad; he has no super powers. He resigns himself to being the sidekick, the voice in the hero's ear. But in the climactic battle between the gods among us, what does he do? _He jumps, _*_without hesitation,_*_ between The Beast and The Overseer, even though the Beast can squash him like a fly, and he turns the tide of the battle._ Even Elijah recognizes that it derails his plan. The ordinary boy who couldn't protect his schoolmate because he's "not like" his father now steps in to protect superheroes.

    • @AfifZulkifli
      @AfifZulkifli Před 5 lety +9

      "The voice in the heroes ear.." I thought this as well when I saw the scene where Joseph was reading the comic book titled The Whisperer. This might be foreshadowing that his superpower might be voice related. Also Caseys superpower might be healing (love) as her scenes often focuses on her hands.

      Does anyone else think Mrs. Price becomes a villain in this movie, the same way that Elijah remains one? He has the same callous attitude towards the lives of innocent bystanders in this movie, just as in last one, where we are told that comic book villains are drawn with eyes reflecting their skewed outlook. I`m all for mothers always being there for their kids, esp one as unfortunate as Elijah, but the lack of inclination to steer him away from obvious evil just feels very disturbing.

      Sentry man vs jaguaro. Ive always wondered when in unbreakable Elijah mentions comics being a form of history retold and jazzed up that this comic - which seemed to predict the meeting of David Dunn and the beast - I wondered if it meant that maybe there's also a superhuman out there who could predict the future and they painted it and sold it as comics, because that comic came out decades before they met and its so symbolic of that event in glass and with that earlier monologue about a secret history....maybe the same person wrote the comic that Elijah was reading that showed the beasts attack on Casey. Maybe they had more evolved version of David's intuition ability.

    The black clover is actually the Shamrock herb, native to Ireland, green though of course and taken by Irish St. Patrick as a symbol of the holy trinity. The Irish are also famous for their red hair...a feature of Dr. Staple. I would say the society is a Roman Catholic religious society that originated in Ireland, believing as you said that no gods should walk among us. This is the reason the number 3 is so common in the movie. The whole quest is symbolic of holy trinity vs. three superhumans.

    The Clover Society's belief that the result of a superhero finding their opposite leading to disaster, is very similar to particle physics. Each particle has s corresponding antiparticle, which have equal masses but opposite charge, and when a particle collides with it's corresponding antiparticle, annihilation occurs, which releases energy. The point is, this is what the Clover Society fears most

The D.I.D book was to show us that he cared and was trying to find help, instead he was killed in the train accident caused by mr glass. Then mr glass explains how if he never destroyed the train then Kevin’s dad would’ve never died and left Kevin behind with his psycho abusive mother thus leading to Kevin’s suffering creating the beast. A couple other things I noticed when watching Glass is that a lot of the vernacular used throughout the film is "amazing", "fantastic", "marvelous". A lot of the same words used when describing superheroes ("The Amazing Spiderman, etc.")
    Another thing I found interesting is that the date 1874 was used twice throughout the film, once when David Dunn is entering his own house and another time it's brought up by the psychologist. I'm not sure if this date has any specific relevance or not, it could be eluding to the date the first zoo in the U.S. opened (coincidentally the Philadelphia Zoo).
    I'm sure there's more symbolism dispersed throughout the film but hats off to Shyamalan for a great film overall, the critics online are being too ridiculous lol.

Night used for this Mr. Glass Endgame story & the main characters worked well, and McAvoy is just so great as The Horde again!

    There's the use of colours for each of the 3 main characters. NOTE: Elijah is represented by the colour PURPLE. In the flashbacks and in the past movies, for example when a young Elijah opens up the comic book , it's wrapped in purple. When Elijah is older he's always in some shade of purple. Even in the room where all 3 are gathered for their 'psychiatric' evaluation, Elijah is wrapped in a purple blanket, he's also the VILLAIN. When David's son enters the comic book store, notice in the back of the that VILLAINS are highlighted in PURPLE. Where as the HERO'S are GREEN. When we see David character going out and doing his vigilante justice he's always wearing a GREEN raincoat. When him and his son (the character who played his son was brought back from UNBREAKABLE) when they are working they are always wearing GREEN. As if to say we're the good guys. When all 3 are gathered for their 'psychiatric' evaluation, David's wearing a worn out Green garments. Another foreshadow, that David's time is near. Also, note in the flashback, when young Elijah opens up his comic book from its purple wrapping on the cover you see the HERO and the animal like creature on the cover. This is a reference to David in GREEN the HERO and BEAST in ORANGE. Just like KEVIN and the HORDE. This is also a reference to the real life story that Elijah will soon find himself in, a clever piece of foreshadowing. As for the HORDE, because of his animalistic and BEAST like alter ego, he's always represented by a ORANGE colour. Note in the movie SPLIT, how most of the time he was surrounded by yellow and orange haze of the lights. Also, wore some shade of ORANGE clothing. When ever you see his character he always has some shade of ORANGE on his clothing. Note when the 3 are gathered for their 'psychiatric' evaluation Kevin and the HORDE are dressed in ORANGEY-YELLOW garments. Who knew that COLOURS have so much symbolic meanings in movies? 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😆

      In the scene where Dr. Staple has a group therapy with Elijah, Kevin, and David, each in their signature colors, she is wearing PINK, and the entire room they are meeting in is bathed in PINK light, suggesting that the three men are under her power.

      She has two colours, pink and a pale blue and she often blends in with the background. A hint that she's her motives are camouflaged?

      He's said this was the last in the series -- but yes, hopefully there are more reality grounded hero films.

    I would say that Mr. Glass's opposite is Dr.Staple. A staple is strong and resilient it binds things together. Glass fractures and severs it's delicate. Mr. Glass has the iconic part in his fro on his right and Dr.Staple has a part on her left.
    She's dedicated to getting rid of superheroes he wants to make more of them.
