The Afro-Argentines, originating as black immigrants from Africa enslaved in Argentina during the 18th century, constituted a substantial segment of the Argentine population. However, over time, their numbers dwindled significantly.
In 1778, a census conducted by the Spanish council revealed that Afro-Argentines comprised approximately 37% of the population. Yet, as years passed, their proportion declined to around 15%, leading Argentina to become one of the whitest countries in South America. Consequently, due to their dwindling population, Afro-Argentines are scarcely represented in prominent fields such as sports, journalism, and politics.
In this presentation, we delve into the history of Afro-Argentines, exploring the factors contributing to their decline and eventual eradication from Argentina. Let's examine how Argentina's black population diminished over time.

It isn't actually, when the majority of us whites are trying to wipe out the black bloodlines and elevating anyone that goes along with it while punishing with poverty any negroes that won't. It is genetic genocide, and not promoted for racial unity, but rather to eliminate a less desirable race without playing the bad guy and using other violent means to reach the same goal. Anytime you genetically merge 12% into 80%, you will end up looking like and thinking like the 80%. Nothing good comes out of destroying one race in order to bring about social change. The blacks should've been allowed to assimilate without effecting their Afro looks, dances, music, cuisine, hair texture, or African culture. After all, no one forced the whites to give up who they were to remain in the country.

@@mabeaute8963 The problem is these other things you bring up can be found in lots of other countries, including the USA and Brazil, , that still have lots of visible AfroAms. The difference is that Argentina did not have a large black population in absolute numbers, so when a big wave of European immigrants arrived later, they absorbed the much smaller black population to a large degree. And one more thing, medical science was so crappy in the 19th century that it hardly mattered whether you had access to professional physicians.

I'd like to know what specific movements you're referring to, but let's pose this hypothetical for a second. You're kidnapped from your home, beaten, used, abused and terrorized at every opportunity by your captive to keep you submitted to do their bidding. Is it brutal and forced to then lash out at the person abusing you, or is that human nature.
If you look at history Europe and the West is just one brutal forced empire after the other that subjugated their way of life on to every corner of the world they colonized. Whereas the black movement is a reaction to this oppression not some forced attempt to make it in society

I don't pay no mind. I spent time in Argentina a couple of years ago and had a good time. Argentinians looked at me as if my brown color was no big deal and treated me with respect like everyone else, even in places (like Ushuaia) where you don't even see light brown skin let alone basic brown like me. I know I can't generalize and think nobody black will have issues. But I've known some blacks who have been down there and none had any issues at all. Are there racists in Argentina? Yes. Heck, the population is 46 million....you're going to find some racists. Does that mean everybody in Argentina is racist just because there are racists there? Common sense says no. We have to stop generalizing. And we also need to stop thinking that just because people in a place thought a certain way and did things a half-century to centuries ago doesn't mean that the masses in that place think and do the same today. That's common sense also. A lot of times people just look at the color and nationality of a person and instantly make a conclusion without even trying to find out what his/her inner person is like....as if somehow race and nationality defines who an individual person is on the inside.

The chanel name is "Zurilym", and always in Spanish (you can tweak the subtitles to have their translation into English). I'm surprised about the relative good speed we Argies got rid of our racism. We are very classist though (happens everywhere) and, like everywhere, the ones who suffer the most from it are the poorer sections... which tend to be majority brown because inmigrants, or their sons/grandsons, from fellow Latin American countries.

Not true. Black population was really small in argentina. It wasnt a explotation colony. In fact, chile, paraguay, bolivia have no black population neither. Spain didnt bring them (uruguay is different because it was also portuguese and brazilian).
Most of african genes vanished with mixing (thats why is 30% just in bsas by 1770 when the city was merely a village) and an influx of european immigrants that surpasses 4:1 tthe existing local population (were blacks were really few and suffer a lot during the yellow fever)

I wouldn't be surprised if interracial marriage was responsible for a big portion of the disappearance. Black people harbor too much self hate and cannot value their blackness. Great Video, but you omitted a tragic fact about the diaappearance of Afro Argentines. During Argentina's civil war, whole black families, including men , women and children, were sent to the front lines of the battle. This is how Argentina reduced their black population from 37% to almost zero. It was a mass extermination.
After World War ll Argentina imported a LOT of Nazis into their country. And you wonder why the black population disappeared? The Biden Administration is planning to do the same with Black Americans.
That's false, the region now known as Argentina had about 800k inhabitants and around 15% were black (the 37% was only in Buenos Aires... one city). Black population in Argentina has always been small. Before Spanish colonization in the 16th century, Argentina's population was mainly composed of natives not black race. So black race presence on that time were non existent.
During Spanish colonization (1500-1800), African slaves was introduced to Argentina, leading to an increase in the black population, though they were smaller proportion compared to indigenous, spanish and mestizo populations, mestizos is mixed race between spanish and natives.
Between 1857 and 1950, Argentina experienced massive immigration from Europe, because of Argentina economic incetives due to huge natural resource, and even more later during europe economic crisis and first world war. Aproximately 7million only considering european immigrants arrived in the country. This wave of migration was one of the largest in the world at the time and far exceeded the existing local population.
Therefore, it is incorrect to claim that there was "genocide" against the black population in Argentina, as its demographic was considerable while Spain ruling, but afeter slave abolishion 1853, no new africans where introduced to the country, so most black genes were diluted through mixing race and the arrival of European immigrants in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Do the maths.... 15% of 800k is 120k people. If a few years later the population was 10 million... that means that those 120k that were 15% of the population, now represents about 1.2% of it... that's the whole "erasing"... maths. Simple maths. By the way, interracial marriages were always allowed in Argentina (even in the colonial days). Slavery was ALWAYS ILLEGAL in Argentina, it's on its first constitution, literally. Black people was allowed to participate in politics (the first President of Argentina, Bernardino Rivadavia, was of african descent) and black people were always allowed to vote (except when nobody was allowed to vote, obviously). Black people was always allowed in schools and universities. As I said, the first president was of African descent and he was a lawyer. Black population in Argentina has always been small. Before Spanish colonization in the 16th century, Argentina's population was mainly composed of natives not black race. So black race presence on that time were non existent.
During Spanish colonization (1500-1800), African slaves was introduced to Argentina, leading to an increase in the black population, though they were smaller proportion compared to indigenous, spanish and mestizo populations, mestizos is mixed race between spanish and natives.
Between 1857 and 1950, Argentina experienced massive immigration from Europe, because of Argentina economic incetives due to huge natural resource, and even more later during europe economic crisis and first world war. Aproximately 7million only considering european immigrants arrived in the country. This wave of migration was one of the largest in the world at the time and far exceeded the existing local population.
Therefore, it is incorrect to claim that there was "genocide" against the black population in Argentina, as its demographic was considerable while Spain ruling, but afeter slave abolishion 1853, no new africans where introduced to the country, so most black genes were diluted through mixing race and the arrival of European immigrants in the 19th and 20th centuries.
