I really enjoy the editing in most of these videos, but in this particular context it made it hard to feel like I'm playing along too because I can't hear the sounds because there was no gap between dialogue
sorry i do my best to list all the necessary notes for editing, but forgot that since he edits off of vocal wave form that he'd end up cutting a lot of silent time spent listening to the sounds... decided to go forward with posting rather than request a full redo but will do it differently in the future.
@@CaptainSparklezwas just looking for this comment and wondering if a pause remover had been used! Completely makes sense and thanks for replying about this 😊
this whole thread just makes me so happy, like yay for constructive criticism working out
i completely agree. i'm glad sparklez understands!
ty king @@CaptainSparklez we appreciate you
I think it’s a testament to the sound design of this game how iconic and distinguishable the different block sounds are!
Thank you so much for playing my Minecraft map! 🙌
Btw, you won't get points if you stop the timer, XP appears with each new block after you see the "answer", it indicates the number of blocks you've "discovered" (max is 50)
An interesting map idea, I think it's pretty unique (or at least I haven't seen another like this)!
This is def the type of map built for a streamer. Super easy to play along with chat and still be fun without having any potential of excessive backseat gaming. This would have been the type of video that you show the chat box on the side of the screen to see what others are guessing
I love how Captain sparklez is still doing minecraft after years
Indeed. Me too.
Yep, i watched back in the day for the OG modded survival. I don't watch every video he posts but i come back every now and then.
minecraft never dies
7:19 it's called a head room because each block that you unlock you can put on your head
Don't disappoint us Jardon, you're a minecraft pro 😂
Not only that, a veteran too!
Hate to see the Cap being so hard on himself all the time. You're doing great Jordan! Thanks for all the content over the years, even though it can be mentally taxing. We appreciate you!
to be fair, getting the block wrong really does make you feel dumb
I don't know Jordan...
I wouldn't have guessed redstone lamp either
Great vid!
I guessed Sea Lantern instead of Redstone Lamp😅😂
Why did the map maker put a three second delay between LITERALLY EVERYTHING?!
16:12 you can see it says answer netherite in chat, meaning he skipped netherite, probabaly cause he got it wrong
edit: it says he got 13/20 as his score, but he has 21 levels.
This is what I was looking for
I don't know if it changes as the video goes along, but: In guessing based on sound and breaking, some silence would be nice. For the first bamboo block I could barely hear ... well the block, because the pauses between words were cut out. Great for a normal video, not great if you can't 'play along'.
Just a frustration lol
It would be cool if you could test blocks like: does it burn, do you take less fall damage, can it be water logged, etc
Though I wouldn't actually want to chew it, warped step has such a crunchy sound to it. Like a cartilage kind of crunch, but the sound by itself isn't necessarily unpleasant. I suppose because it is more 'fungal' the chewy-crunchiness is intentional, but it's one of those things you don't often think about despite it being there; minecraft as a game has an atmosphere. You can tell there's lots of care put into how the game sounds, and looks. Mostly more recently than way back in the day, or the block repertoire could probably have been a fair bit bigger than 50 potential entries on this game map.
Some more thoughts: This is good for free form play, but it would be neat to have a game mode where you do actually have to guess the block out of, say, a 5 or 10 block random selection out of the whole. It would certainly make for more easily quantifiable scoring, like if you were doing (another mode idea) a vs game with a friend. This as it stands is an unlimited sort of game, which is honestly perfect as is with its 'pick up and play' style, but there's some roomy potential for more game modes for sure. 😄
Oh boy can't wait to watch Captain devolve into insanity guessing the blocks :D
Anyone else remembering Villager TV 2 with the “Name That Block” game show?
Really loving the Minecraft maps lets play lately📈
I had no idea that this many blocks had custom breaking sounds!!
That's not how Schroedinger's Plank works
I was screaming at you on the copper one
Love your videos man. Been watching since season 1 of minecraft survival. Keep up the awesome work you always do man.
Just missed out on the new sponge block sounds
i hope later in the video we can actually hear the sound you are talking about.
EDIT: ok it was only a problem with the bamboo.
Another question are gravel blocks effected by gravity? And did you get slowed on the soilsand one?
I see the intro explaining it and my first thought is "Doesn't the f3 screen tell you what block you're looking at?"
13:05 it's not netheRITE, it's netheWRONG!
We don't talk about what happened at 16:11
12:07 OK I'll bite. Ooooak Log...? Maybe?
Edit: Holy crap that was a toughie.
Sadly the ingame sound was so quiet that I couldn't really hear it...
And you talking over it didn't help xd
Still fun to watch though
I can this being returned to at some point with someone else and have a game of say 5 blocks each.
Could even have a point if you were right, but could steal a point if you were right when your opponent was wrong on their turn.
Really nice map
4:24 if it makes you feel better, I was saying Sea Lantern, and frankly I don’t even know if it makes the same sound
I love how he is also continuously talking over the sounds.
This map was so much fun! Honestly I would have guess two different things for the sponge too, I was so sure the secon time the sounds were different xD
the three horsemen of the Orepocalypse, you missed the chance for a good joke there spookles :P
Jordan, I feel like something you can do is start investing money in multiple builders, and come up with map ideas like this or the many guess the block videos you have done. Then provide resources to the builder and when they are done, you make a video playing the map. Meanwhile, you have other builders working on other maps for more videos.
I like these types of videos and was a bit sad when a while back ago you were going to change directions and try to upload higher quality videos (which I also had liked, but they came out pretty slow). I ended up kinda moving on because you wrre mainly producing live streams/vods, which isn’t something that I like to watch the majority of the time.
As an author, I myself have noticed that a high frequency of posting is extremely important for viewer growth, and so far from what I've seen from other web fictions, quantity is greater than quality in moderation.
Ultimately, though, what you do and the directions you want to go is up to you. Im just a singular voice out of many other opinions out there.
Unfortunately in order to pay the builders fairly, every video would run a loss unless it got at least a million views. Not really feasible.
@@CaptainSparklez that's unfortunate. I didn’t quite consider whether you would be able to fairly pay builders based on the profit of the videos.
Part of the idea though was based on Mr. Beasts initial structure of his videos before he ramped up production costs. Although, I don't know many of the details behind his financials, and I presume a big part of his rise had to do with his ability to obtain sponsorships and other funding.
I think people have tried similar ideas in the past on CZcams too with the people on AlanticCraft back when they did lucky block challenges. Quite a few years ago there was also someone doing high school RP set in Japan with custom mods being produced and a custom map (those people aren't around anymore though). I think there are other examples as well, but most weren't that successful in the long run (I dont think they had much outside funding too), possibly because as you said, it's difficult to make a profit when you pay people fairly.
Most of the stuff I know about funding comes from how to make money as an author, and finding funding for research. But if I think of any other ideas, I'll let you know :D.
I don't think he's ever not posted frequently on this channel. Many youtubers upload around once a month or so and I've grown used to videos being posted more often being considered frequent. Also, this might not work for everyone, but when I'm waiting for new videos to come out, I often check out older videos, there are several thousand on this channel alone.
@CaptainSparklez We will very happily make any map suggestions you have for us for free jordan! (we are the creators of the oneblockatatime map and Ivoted a_or_b my brother is a well established MC builder and architecture/designer student IRL and I specialize in the technicality of the maps) and we really enjoy making those maps and watching you complete them!
@@CaptainSparklez as cubitub said and offered, volunteers could be an option. You could also possibly reward volunteers with publicity and/or offer other things of value in the community.
Authors often will have patreons with advanced chapters, but for higher donations, they allow the donors to influence the story (maybe by naming a character or choosing who a interlude would be about). They also offer exclusive art (often AI art) to those donors. If the author has a discord, those donors might also get special rewards on that discord server.
I would imagine for you, you have access to way more alternative rewards that don't rely on direct monetary gain. You might be able to offer publicity, knowledge, networking opportunities, and community rewards.
Reminds me of older Minecraft vids
“What if I was just doing this on purpose to torment you”
I mean this in the best possible way, but it’s you jordan. I definitely know that’s not the case
Plus I had no idea what it was either 😅
4:20 no i did not even know that you don`t need silk touch to break it
Finally got to be here below the 100s
Jordan really going to go and play a block sounds map and then speak over everything, didn't even max out block sounds.
its kinda funny that some us know captainsparklezs over revenge lol
AngryAngelo map 😻
4:23 i guessed tinted glass
At the redstone lamp I thoght it was tinted glass
The map maker didn't give you silk touch fists? How dare! I'd like to speak to their manager.
I tried this map before, when you guessed gravel, I thought it was dirt since these two block sound exactly the same.. only way you could find out whether is gravel or dirt is if you would get flint (item from guessing block), but you were lucky there :D
I think I can distinguish the gravel and the dirt by the sound.
It wasn't soul sand because you didn't sink a little or slowed down. 15:32
Jordan, new minecraft series when?
Man, I wish CZcams actually notified when I ised the bell, I only found the vid because of the "subscribed" tab
I'd managed to get a majority of these correct, actually. The only exception being the Diamond block and the Dripstone(which I'd guessed Stone and Basalt respectively)
It was fun though
Sparkleypants talking so loud that we can't hear the sounds in a map based on sound, xD
Never been this early before lol. Glad to be here Cap!
Oh my god I am so angry right now but I love you jardon 😂❤
16:12 Cheeky Block of Netherite skip ;)
Editor pls, in this maps with no "counter" just add one in pos, just a number.. With some funny X.5 of Y with the Half fails
it was at the end
Not just at the end i mean obv@@jukeboxknocks
Never watched captainsparklez growing up but always knew about him cause I watched ldshadowlady. Apparently yt knows that cause I got this in my recommended, feels like I’m a kid watching mcyt again, even though I know nothing abt captainsparklez 😂
i thought i knew minecraft, and then i remebered that i play without sound.
Wish I could actually hear the sounds myself.
Early on a Captain sparklez video wow
Is it just me or can I hear the difference between glass and glowstone breaking?

Few things.
2 many cuts. It's hard to hear the block sounds. It's a sound map...
2. Your voice is 2 loud compared to game sounds....on a sound map...
It makes this a bad experience
He never tried crafting that is interacting
