Europe are a imo really underrated hard rock band, especially with their recent material, not only the (while great) slightly too soft, poppy hymns from back in the day, like this one here
To be honest, tehy were much more hard rock back in the 80s (if we don't count "Out of This World"). Albums like Wings of Tomorrow, Europe & Final Countdown were very rocky, and even had some metal on them too ;)
With the key change to match Joey's changing voice I think it sounds awesome! Much harder than the original studio version which is pretty cool too for the sound back in that day, I like this version

Pois gosto mais da versão atual da banda. Na minha opinião foram mal divulgado nos anos 80, A mídia só olhou a beleza deles e esqueceu do quanto eles eram( é) talentosos. ( foi o que conclui vendo e ouvindo todos os comentários e vídeos- já que não sabia deles naquela época. ) E que deveriam ter seguido o som dos primeiros álbuns deles( 1983 e 1984) ainda bem que voltaram para o caminho onde nunca devia ter saído.

Essa música acima tornou minha preferida depois que ouvi eles cantarem em 2022. Eu prefiro essa versão do que a antiga.

Joey seems to be singing less "softly" than he once did, and, it has made this song suffer for it.
I bet it's tough for him to find a nice balance between the older material and the War of Kings/Walk the Earth songs. He seems to be channeling his love for Dio these days. Definitely gives this song a different feel with the vocal delivery and lower tuning.
@@Lanisteelerocks I haven't heard any of the new stuff from Europe at all. The last Europe cd or cassette even that I have heard was "Prisoners in Paradise". So, I had that and "The final countdown". I am in the US, so, you have to really look for new music from Europe, (the geographical europe) because here, the music is mostly Rap, hip hop, pop, country and a bit of rock. The radio stations here mostly play anything BUT hard rock or metal. Maybe 1 or 2 stations will play rock.
The song does still sound good, I was just used him singing a bit softer, BUT, it is live, NOT playing the original version back in the 80's.
Plus, Joey looks really good for his age, not like many old rock stars, who tend to be "bloated" from drug and booze use over many years.
He’s older. I doubt he can hit those same notes he could when he was younger.

Superstitious is a great song, a real step up from the bit-too-generic Final Countdown, and the guitarist really picked up his game.
I can't excape the feeling though that they're not really having fun up there. It's all quite tame. Could be that they must be going on sixty these days.

@@peterdefrankrijkerstudio version guitar work is Kee Marcelo who was in the band for a while after John norum left then John came back and this is him playing the part ,doing an awesome job ,I like John's tone better it's more bluesy, soulful. Kee Marcelo is an absolute monster Shredder though, awesome in his own right for sure
O comentário é de quem não conhece a banda Europe. Eu que nem sabia da existência da banda nos anos 80. Sei que Joey ama está no palco. Isso é a vida dele. Ainda sendo um leonino raiz. Que adora está no centro das atenções.Os outros integrantes também, são grandes profissionais. O que não faltaram na vida deles é gente tentando tira-los do palco desdo início.

Solid solo by Norum, considering that his not a "guitar sprinter" but more of a feeling blues player and that he keeps his guitar hanging way too low. Give this guy a break finally, even Marcello couldn't play this solo accurately live sometimes.
Hell, he was their first guitarist, so this is pretty appropriate. And his feel and vibrato are second to very few.
@@billcichoke2534 Kind of reminds me of Gary Moore, by his more bluesy way of doing things. Still rate GM a bit over him for being a jack-of-all-trades.

In the album, it's Kee Marcello playing, here, John Norum is playing. John is more of a hard rock kinda guy while Kee is more 80s poppy like.
Killer Band, Killer Song and Album but.... this Version sucks, specially the Vocals. Such great Melodies in the original recording. This is only a Shadow of them.
