As Indonesian my hobby is angling at the sea very often, but because of covid since then until now I haven't been fishing anymore. This is awesome video! Dont do bottom fishing, a fish is not big enough, the fish are small, if your bait is big enough they will rip the bait down and you get nothing. Try using a large hook and use small/middle squid for bait, because squid is very difficult for small fish to rip it out. But you did jigging, that's right dude!
Fish in tropical seas behave somewhat differently if you do bottom fishing. They don't like dead water currents (no currents). I wanna tell you if you wanna catch a big fish.
    - Method #1, do metal jigging if the water quite deep (>20 m). Just ask the boatman to find a reef and stop the boat above the reef. Put the bait to the bottom of the seafloor and pull it up haltingly. Bait size about 20 cm. Target: Tuna, King mackerel, Giant trevally fish, Red snapper and other mid-deep fishes.
    - Method #2, do casting if the water not too deep (3-10 m). Just ask the boatman to find a rock, cliff or under water rock/bank/cliff and stop the boat near that spot (about 30-50 meters) and throw a bait near the rock and pull haltingly. Bait size about 20 cm or more. Target: Big giant trevally fish, Sailfish, Marlin, King mackerel, Mahi-mahi and other surface fishes.
    - Method #3,Trolling with pooping/casting bait. Boat must under 5 knot and the fishing line at least 100 meters from boat. Target: Sailfish, Marlin.
Do that three methods over and over. Fish in tropical seas eat in the morning/dawn (4:30 - 8 AM) and in the afternoon (4 -6 PM) from before the sunset, at noon they eat but it's hard to find them because they swim with the current since morning, their existence is random.
Regulation for fishing in Indonesia, fish that are caught can be brought home even if they are not mature because there are so many fish in Indonesia and fishing from angling doesn't threaten their extinction. But we always return it to the sea if they not big enough, and it's just a form of awareness. Fish that shouldn't be brought home or consumed are those that are endangered in Indonesian rules, such as the Napoleon fish, which must be returned to the sea. Legal Napoleon fish for consumption only from fish farming.
If you wanna see fishing experience in Indonesia just search in youtube with keywords: "MANCING MANIA, TRANS". Mancing means angling, and Mancing Mania was a TV program on TransTV that once had high ratings for angling lovers in Indonesia, just watch it, it's awesome!!!! Happy fishing guys! Yuuuhuuuu damn I missed this moment, ughhh...

Thank you for that, a lot of great information.
It was our first time fishing in Bali. We were only given the option of 1 size rig & rod which was quite disappointing as there were many smaller fish we could have caught otherwise.
Great fun out on the water though 👌

If you’ve done much fishing you’ll know many fish & sharks swallow hooks & lures, but they all rust away wether they are through their lips or swallowed. Removing the hooks can sometime do more damage & even kill the animal. If it was unsafe or inhumane fishermen would not do it.

@@alphaanglingadventures3347 I just want to say that the hooks can take several years to degrade, meanwhile the shark will continue to suffer and with the possibility of swallowing the hook and causing death, it was a small shark and you had some pliers on the boat with which you could avoid all that, there are many divers removing hooks from the mouths of these poor animals by people who only care about having a good time without thinking that they may suffer too, I suppose you would not like to have a hook stuck in your mouth for several years and surely neither would he He likes it, he wouldn't have a problem if he broke the line, it's something you can't avoid, but it could be avoided, think a little, thank you
