I thought this series was going to be one episode a week during free agency. We’re spoiled
Maybe should’ve been, but definitely not complaining
Appreciate your support!
I miss Thinking Basketball's top 10 players somewhat, but these really hit the spot and more than make up for their absence. Incredibly high quality and entertaining!
Appreciate that! And that list is a huge inspiration for this series!
In fairness to LeBron, the poor shooting percentage combined with volume is not excusable, but he played both the 2021 and 2023 postseason injured, returning to a whopping _two_ regular season games before the play-in tournament in 2021. He's impossible to rank for the reason you specified, namely that in 3 of his 5 LA seasons, he picks up the slack when his teammates get hurt, gets hurt himself, then comes back prematurely.
Agree with everything you said!
Because of age, he gets injured now. So that’s factor in his rating and where he stands now. He injured every other season now.
@@Max.Hartmann very unfortunate that you hate LeBron that much, won’t be missed!
You are hating though. Saying the Lakers are better without him when he has posted a BPM of 7.7 in the regular season and 9.3 in the playoffs - which is still extremely high level - is hating. His turnover rate relative to his reads and the impactful passes he does make is still a positive.
Y'all love to say "I'm just telling the truth" when you obviously aren't. You're intentionally exaggerating the flaws that we all acknowledge.
The "injury" is just excuses now because it wasn't mentioned and gone at the start of the post season vs the Timberwolves and the Grizzlies but it appears again after the loss to the nuggets.
Such a thrilling series. :)
Thank you for yet another magnificent video.
Glad you enjoyed!
I like how you highlight each player's unique style with perfectly illustrative clips! As a loyal fan I typically only care about my team and can easily get lost in the moment rooting for them, but I really admire the statistic and unbiased approach to this!
Glad you enjoyed!
I didn't get to ask on last episode, but do you believe Jamal Murray can be an All-NBA player this upcoming season?
Assuming he's able to increase his production from last year, to numbers somewhere between his last regular season splits, and his last playoff splits, as well as the Nuggets performing as well or better in wins than lats year.
Or do you think that wouldn't be good enough/too many players above him?
I could definitely see it, in a full healthy season where he’s already sort of “established” I wouldn’t be surprised at all.
Amazing video! I love this series. Thanks man ❤
Glad you enjoyed!
I am loving this series! Looking forward to the next one
Glad you enjoy!
Every time I don’t agree with a ranking your explanation makes me more understanding. Great series and you have a clear understanding of basketball knowledge
That’s my goal! Appreciate that!
Nice list I’ll make lil changes but it’s pretty good I feel like if Zion can stay on the court he’ll make the top 10 by next year imo with some improvement lebron at 12 was a lil shocking but gave great reasoning so it’s understandable
Could definitely see that!
Great content! respect your list but availability is perhaps one of the most important trait that cannot be ignored. Zion may have one of most talented but he has not played enough and future is also uncertain that cannot be included in the top tier NBA players
That’s fair! For this list I’m focused more on just the “on-court play” and if I were to consider health a factor he wouldn’t crack the list.
I think I would rank D Book higher because he’s more CONSISTENT with guys ahead of him like Tatum and Butler IMO
Offensively I think that’s more than fair, those 2 guys are also consistently great defenders though.
@@HoopVenue in 2022 DBook was the best SG defender in the league by every metric, did you see how he preformed in the playoffs?
D Book is like in the 6-9 range for sure
D BOOK IS WAY TOO LOW! Top 10
For sure.
I disagree but respect your Jimmy Butler ranking. To me, he elevates his game and has MVP level impact in the postseason. I agree with much of what you said, and I'd add that his intangibles are also very important; he's a good leader and seems to get the most out of his teammates.
I'd contrast this with Joel Embiid; statistical production drops and isn't MVP level in the playoffs imo, and doesn't seem to elevate his teammates.
I hear you on his shortcomings, but still there are not 12 players i'd rather have than devin booker on a contending team. At this point he seems like the player who can average the most points per game out of any player in the post-season, with amazing efficiency. Played an enormous role in stealing 2 games off of denver which no other team achieved, and did so without their primary creator. Maybe just putting too much stock in this last post-season but what he was doing was other-worldly
top 10 are jokic, giannis, steph, embiid, tatum, luka, dame, ad, kd and kawhi, probably, which leaves fox, sabonis, kat, ingram, brown, derozan, lavine, markkanen, siakam and gobert out of top 25 and I would argue at least one or two of those guys are more valuable than jjj or bam in most situations in the playoffs.
I'll think kawhi isnt top ten to him as of last season and instead shai is
@@juno4812 he already ranked shai in previous video
Kawhi from january was one of the best players in the league bro...
He’s leaving Brown and Fox out. Those 2 guys are top 25 players and you can argue Ingram as well. Zion, Mitchell, JJ, Trae, Bam are not better than fox or brown.
looking forward to 10-6
Question: how do you get film to analyze for your vids?
I use a lot of different programs, sometimes I’ll just screen record while watching a game but websites like “the high low” and “nba.com/stats” allow me to filter for specific play types.
Do you think LeBron prior to injury was still playing at a Weak MVP level like he did last season or has he just regressed a bit as a whole?
Definitely, it’s just hard to know which level is more sustainable/realistic come playoff time.
Top 10 has to be Jokic, then Curry/Giannis/Butler then AD/Embiid/KD/Tatum/Doncic, last spot is probably Dame with Kawhi excluded? It's a good list, though I think Murray should've been higher at least above Kyrie, and Fox/Brunson are omissions, better than J3 and Harden.
I've got LeBron & Jimmy as two of my 8 guys that can lead a team to title contention, so I consider them both top 8. Might both be top 5 honestly, I'd probably take either of them over KD, Tatum, or Luka for a postseason run.
AD’s the best on the lakers not LeBron he’s not leading that team
@@JOHNNYPMUSIC AD probably covers more bases for them but I don't think he leads as much in the leadership sense and LeBron is still pretty good at that by this point.
I'm so impressed with how you broke down zions game. You speak very highly of his offensive game. I will say is there any part of you that thinks his lack of length and floor spacing could hurt him as an offensive scorer in the postseason? We see giannis with more size and length really get exposed. I know zion is better around the basket but giannis is a better passer and has shown games of being a dominant physical offensive player. I believe he is able to do that with his length.
Do you think I am focusing to much on his 6'6 or 6'7 height potential hurting him in the postseason.
I definitely think there’s a world where better basketball minds/opposing coaching staffs come up with ways to limit his scoring that I just haven’t thought of!
11 to 25 No Jaylen Brown ? But Paul George & Zion Williamson always HURT you select 😅😂😅😂😂😅
Explain to me how Kd was better than LeBron when Healthy this szn?
"More focused on the playoffs" puts Zion at 14
Well I broke down my reasoning for that lol, also noted in the first episode that some playoff samples aren’t meaningful and a lot of this list is built on speculation and projection.
@@HoopVenue I'm fine with Zion at 14. Physically gifted players usually do better in the playoffs. I don't trust him to actually play though until I see it.
Ngl I think lebron was judged unfairly…yes the 3 point shooting is a problem but he should’ve been graded before his injury vs Dallas…his explosiveness was not a issue before that Dallas game lol he’s still top 5 in my opinion and showed he can turn it on defensively as he showed this playoffs
love the video and the series but i think devin booker has to be top 10 in the nba. clearly the best shooting guard in the NBA.
I agree that he’s the best SG, just don’t think he’s better than any of my top 10 guys regardless of position.
You realize these rankings are based on last season.
Lennon is ranked right where he is. When he is healthy he is at #5 or 6
My prediction for Hoop Venue's top 10:
1. Jokič
2. Giannis
3. Curry
4. KD
5. Kawhi
6. Luka
7. Dame
8. Tatum
9. Embiid
10. AD
To be clear, this is not MY top 10, but my prediction of Hoop Venue's top 10. He seems to be very charitable when analyzing weaker defenders (e.g. Zion, Kyrie, Trae), he values individual creation more than compatibility with other stars (e.g. Trae, Harden, Spida), he seems to heavily weight historic playoff performances over regular season consistency (e.g. Butler), and he doesn't take games missed into account at all. Thus, I bet he'll rank Kawhi, Luka, and Dame over Tatum and Embiid. Hoop Venue probably won't care about Luka and Dame's defensive issues, or about Kawhi's injury history, and he'll heavily penalize Tatum and Embiid for unspectacular playoff numbers.
We’ll see!
Mmm, Siakam? Sabonis? I know that guards are more flashy but to not put this two is weird. Im calling it now because is pretty ovbious that neither of them are top 10.
Also im tire of seen tatum and brown among the best players in the league. I know they are top 25, but i imaging that you are going to put the two between the top 10... What ever, good analysis btw i really like your videos.
My top 25 is this:
1. Nikola Jokic
2. Giannis Antetokoumpo
3. Steph Curry
4. Kevin Durant
5. Joel Embiid
6. Luka Doncic
7. Kawhi Leonard (i know... but he is him when he is healthy)
8. Lebron James
9. Damian Lillard
10. Jimmy Butler
11. Jayson Tatum
12. Devin Booker
13. Ja Morant
14. Jaylen Brown
15. Bam Adebayo
16. Paskal Siakam
17. Shai Gilgeous Alexander
18. Paul George
19. Antony Edwards
20. Demar de Rozan
21. Jamal Murray
22. D Aron Fox
23. Drue Holiday
24. Draymomd Green
25. Domantas Sabonis
Honorable Mentions: Haliburton , Kyrie, Harden, jaylen brunson, Porzinguis.
Missing AD who imo is 4-8 but other than that great list
Dame in the top 10 in 2023 is kinda crazy but I can't wait to hear why.
Book is a top 10 player, not hearing anything else
He’s gonna put Dame over Booker which is another take that makes no sense
Jaylen Brown your next video Hoop Venue 😤😤😤😤
Agree with the list just personally don’t have Zion as high becoming he barely plays Also have dbook higher then Lebron great list tho
Because*
You're one of the best nba analyst on Twitter bruh
Appreciate that! 🙏🏻
I think even playing through injury Lebron is a touch better than Tatum, Jimmy, and maybe Dame but I understand your ranking
Definitely fair! Could see LeBron in a ton of different spots.
thank u for not putting jaylen brown on this top 25 at all
He was right there
the best ability is availability
This is a healthy list!
Jimmy is not a high level all star on offense bruh 😂
Respect Jimmy G. Buckets 😭
@@HoopVenue No bag Butler 💀
@@kobedropped_8177 explain how he gets so many 40+ point games in playoff then?
@@magnusolsson28 He had 2 and didn’t score 40 again after the first round
@@kobedropped_8177cause he got injured bro
i've got antman nr. 14.
he's better than 14.-24. players of your list imho
Jimmy > Aaron Gordon defensively? Butler is better offball but personally I view AG as the best 1v1 defender in the NBA at the moment (the real tragedy of Ben Simmons being a headcase, it was 100% him back in 2021)
I def think so, his value as a “free safety” is similar to that of roaming bigs.
Sad to not see Jalen Brunson but he just can’t quite make it here
He’s right there! One of my first off and absolutely worthy of an honorable mention, wouldn’t be mad at anyone putting him in their 25.
If Jimmy is rated that high then Jamal Murray should be be ranked a little better than him because Murray played a overall better game than Jimmy in the Playoffs.
Extremely delusional take. Jimmy and Nikola sweep the NBA Playoffs this year. Jamal on Miami doesn’t make the playoffs.
@@YER3721the only delusion is thinking what Murray did is normal. He’s a top 15 player.
@@Bigmike55626 You can rank Jamal wherever you want, he is not better than Jimmy
@@YER3721 yeah in your opinion 👍 Butler is not even top 20
@@Bigmike55626 Thank you for telling me you know absolutely nothing! Enjoy your life
No way theres 12 better players than Book
Think Jimmy should be higher but good analysis.
Fair!
I like this list i just think Jimmy should be 10 and bron 11
gosh this guys voice is hottttttt
How is embid even on this list he disappeares in the playoffs.
Zion over Mitchell? Nigga crazy
Where is Jaylen brown
👆
He’s not a top 25 player
I count 11 great players i'd have top 25, who is still missing. I'll be surprised to see who you left out. Guessing either Kawhi or Jalen Brown. Because most certainly it's not Giannis, Embiid, Jokic, Curry, luka, tatum, KD, AD or Lillard left out. And that is 9 players.
Fox snubbed again
13 is just disrespectful he’s like top 8
How is Tatum better then bron when healthy?
Can u explain how Embiid is better than Bron when healthy?
Well, that's the thing: he said he ranked LeBron "post"-injury, which was really LeBron playing through a serious injury that he needed surgery for, in hopes of winning the title. The LeBron of December or January would easily be in the top 10, whereas the LeBron of March onward easily wouldn't be.
Butler at 11? Idk man, just being better he’s definitely top 7-8 range
That’s fair! Just prefer some other guys marginally
Since this is as of the prior season I'm assuming kawhi isn't in the top 25 as he didn't play as much and instead shai is within the top ten
SGA is at number 17 and considering Zion has made the list Kawhi will 100% be in the Top 10.
Bro since jan kawhi was one of the best in the league
If Zion is on the list Kawhi better be top 1
25:50
Dame should not be rated higher than those 2 and he’s probably going to be your 10
I understand the last LBJ we saw was a injured one in the playoffs but I think if we look back by mid next season we’ll realize having him in the 12-8 range was silly in no world even at 39 would I ever take Jimmy, AD or Dame over a healthy LBJ in the playoffs his IQ is still unmatched his playmaking is still up there it’s only down bc his teammates aren’t very good shooter and when he has to he’s still a plus defender and compared to those other 3 players I named he’s just sm more consistent on both ends in the postseason and I’d also have him above Kawhi I honestly think Kawhi is the 3rd or 4th best player in the league when on the floor but he clearly has a degenerate knee he’ll probably never be able to play a full postseason again sadly
Zion, does not play enough games to make the list at all. Healthy is a real thing. Stats should be a average for 82 games not what you played. That's your true numbers of what a guy does for you. Zion lol.
I agree… if this list wasn’t ONLY looking at their on-court play and excluding injuries.
If I considered health, he would not be anywhere near this list.
Is fox not top 25?
Book is top 10
How is Kawhi better than Bron when healthy?
kawhi is top 5 when healthy, interested to see where hv puts him
he isn't its most likely shai as of this season
Kawhi literally clears offensively and defensively lolz
I’m curious to see where Dame ranks considering it’s been 2 straight seasons of him missing the playoffs and the fact we probably don’t know how good he would truly be on a contending team (even tho I’m pretty sure he would dare extremely well)
I would give Jimmy the edge over Dame. Both healthy I trust Jimmy more in the playoffs and both are lowkey injury prone but play through it
That’s totally fair! Think they are in similar tiers
Dame is not injury prone
@@cookn6732 idk he be getting injured and playing through it
If Mitchell is here, Brunson has to be as well. Brunson cooked this playoff’s nearly every game. I am an NY fan but the work he put in 90% of the playoffs. Mitchell is a way better defender though.
mitch is still a negative defender so that really matter imo
Let LeBum fanboy media start their weeping
Haven't seen a single person complain in these comments.
We gotta stop ranking Zion in the top 20 for playing 25% of the season.
This is a HEALTHY ranking though! Totally agree he wouldn’t make my list if I were to consider injuries.
damn donovan mitchel above kyrie.
how is Damien Willard better than jimmy who just led his heat to the finals while dame lead his team to the 13th seed
There’s no way this is how you evaluate basketball players u might aswell not even watch this channel
Will have lebron at 10 because of his scoring ability but since that injury I agree he has lost some ground in jumping and driving
Totally fair, can absolutely see him in the top 10
So Siakam is not a top 25 player in your opinion?? Yeah... I don't know about that one, chief. This is the first HARD DISAGREE I've had with this list.
I wouldn’t be mad at anyone putting him in their list, just splitting hairs on a ton of these spots!

omg the Zion dk riding was obnoxious. Every single highlight of him was him jumping. Go back an look. Its an athletic guy jumping for 4 minutes straight. One dimension.
You have to get into a spot to jump, and every single clip is completely different in process.
this comment is obnoxious lol. If u just see jumping in Zion's game then you've really never seen him play.
You spend 5 minutes talking about a player only saying him or he some people don't watch.... They listen so if they don't start your video they don't know the person you are talking about...
Might be the worst top 25 list of all time and we haven’t cracked the top 10. In what world are Zion and Mitchell better than Irving? In what world is trae a top 20
Player? Murray is better than Shai and Mitchell. There aren’t 11 better players than Lebron James. The top 10 will be pathetic, jokic, giannis, Steph, AD, KD, embiid, dame, Tatum, Luka, brown, Kawhi? That’s 11 meaning one of these guys didn’t make the top 25?? 😂 not to mention Fox is not top 25 either. You don’t know ball lil bro
Instead of labeling it as if I have no idea what I’m talking about, let’s hear your breakdowns on each player and exactly why they should rank where they do. 🤔
@@HoopVenue I’m not a CZcamsr, if I was you would have no following because I actually know ball
