musket hits are actually much deadlier than most small arm projectiles today. musket projectiles ranged from 13mm to 20mm, and while they travelled slower than modern 12.7mm, they deformed on impact like hollow points. modern projectiles are much better at penetration tho

Realistically you should be able to shot and reload 3 times with a regular smoothbore musket or even higher, muskets were the 18th/19th century's closest equivalent to our modern assault rifle.
