    Surely any marks from nails, sand from beach and bruises from travel etc. are all an intrinsic part of the painting's soul and 'journey'. So called happy (or unhappy) accidents.

      The other 'happy little accident' artist was a hack amateur by comparison!

    I visited the Outer Hebrides last summer - is Mr. Rowlett on Skye, Harris and Lewis? No shortage of stunning natural beauty there I can assure you!

    Zur Zeit wohl derjenige, der noch wirklich malt. Ohne besondere Technik und Interpretation. Spachtel, Pinsel Farbe und drauf damit. Absolute Spitzenklasse.

    what paint did he use? Did he add thickeners? Can't possibly be expensive oil paint tubes from the local art shop...

    Don’t understand why the nails?
    Seems like there would be a better way to transport them than pounding dozens of nails into each canvas .

      I’m curious about those nails, too. I’d like to know the thoughts behind them apart from preserving the surface texture. I’d like to see the process after the nails are removed. I’ve seen him pull out a few but nothing of his process beyond that. I’m intrigued and inspired. Lovely and daring work. Unfortunately that paint is no longer available. I’m curious what he uses now in those gallon cans.

      @@patstats1 i also like the nails. some works it probably doesn't affect as they are potentially framed? it doesnt seem he is concerned with the edges, they way he wraps bungee cords. I imagine he either, likes the dynamic and changing frame from the transports. he frames the work over the nail holes or a profressional conservator colormatches the paint with archival grade paints and fills in the holes and matches the texture. That is still alot less work then doing a whole paiinting and having the marks be altered from not giving them space during transport. His work is well recieved that his gallery likely does it on his behalf.

      @hailbows Před rokem +1

      @@patstats1 Upon further inspection of his works in galleries, The holes are simply left there are typically blend in to the work and become invisible. That actually is even cooler then the options i listed prior haha.

    Wow, can't believe someone would ship paintings like that with nails as standoffs right in the paintings! guess it is better than just sandwiching them together and having them stick to each other. Bet it was a lot cheaper than boxing individually and properly. Sad some have no respect for other's work. Well on the bright side, it adds a degree of authenticity and provenance to those artworks maybe.
