  • Sawadee khap my farangutan friends and puan puan khun Thai! Continuing the Songkran 2024 vlogs we are in Nakhon Si Thammarat at the Sichon Cabana Beach Resort, Sichon Beach. We also visited Wat Chedi Ai Khai and is some footage of this temple famous for all the cockerel and superhero statues. Thousands of them!
Sichon Beach is a beautiful short stretch of sand on the mainland with a couple of bars and resorts. The resort we stayed in was small but modern and clean. It was quite expensive, but we did stay in the Seaview rooms. There are cheaper rooms at the resort. You can find details here:

Wat Chedi Ai Khai is an interesting temple to visit with an interesting back story. As usual I had no idea that I would be visiting the temple and so I had not done my research. Why boys with sunglasses? Why all the cockerels? Well, it seems the Ai Khai part of the temples name refers to a boy who travelled to the temple with a monk. He was called Egg Boy. The monk asked the boy to stay at the temple and he sadly drowned in a pond. This was over 250 years ago. His spirited is said to reside in a statue of him and you can gain good luck and prosperity by showing respect at the statue. This includes leaving a gift of a chicken/cockerel, which is why there are thousands of them in the temple grounds. Interesting stuff.
I should be editing a video soon on Ao Prachuap or Prachuap Bay soon, so keep your eyes peeled for that. As always, don't forget to like, share and subscribe if you haven't already done so and ping my ka-ding...ring that notification bell so that you don't miss any new videos. Also, shout out to Suno.ai which I used to create the song for the intro and outro.
