  • Join Museum Curator Larry Decuers for a look at some of the A-2 leather flight jackets in The National WWII Museum collection. During the war, the highly-prized jackets became canvases of self-expression, as many airmen commissioned paintings of intricate scenes on the back panel of them.

    Larry is a very humble nice guy. I had the pleasure of doing a Behind the Lines tour with him a few years ago. It was simply amazing. My only complaint is we couldn't spend all day Lol! Excellent museum keep up the good work.

    Great talk! Just to add... the parrot's name is Jose Carioca. His first appearance was actually in a film- not a short- called Saludos Amigos, which pre-dated The Three Caballeros. :)

    I have an A2 in my collection with a name tag that attributes it to a Tech Sergeant. Still working on the complete history, sadly no other patches or art work
