  • (Skip to 8:46 for fast-forwarded removal of front strut if that's all you need to know)
    Hey everyone!
    In this video I show how to remove, replace and re-install new front suspension on a BMW E34 540i (1994). This video details all the steps required to remove and rebuild the front strut assemblies, and is also useful for anyone wanting to know how to change their front top mounts.
    The specific kit I'm installing is the Eibach and Bilstein B12 kit, which lowers the front and rear by ~20-30 mm.
    I hope this is helpful!

    Hi, great video - given me the confidence to do this myself!
    I'm having trouble loosening the nut on the top of the stabiliser. do you have any advice on how to get it off? I had the spanner on the inside and the 17mm socket on the outer side.
    I really want to get past this as I'm really keen to finish this job! cheers

    • @SamuelVella1995
      @SamuelVella1995  Před 7 lety +1

      +Andrew Trinick Hey man! Glad you're having a go at it. If you're talking about what I think you are, then try use another spanner rather than a socket. I think you can get it in there. If it's really stubborn, use some wd40 as well. You'll get it!

    • @SamuelVella1995
      @SamuelVella1995  Před 7 lety +1

      +Andrew Trinick Oh and make sure the other spanner is holding the flats of that shaft securely so it can't spin.

    • @SamuelVella1995
      @SamuelVella1995  Před 7 lety +1

      Andrew Trinick If that still isn't working, try positioning the spanner which is holding the shaft so that it rests up against something metal so it can't move. Then, use the other spanner and hit it with a hammer a few times. The counter-holding spanner shouldn't move.

    Hi and thanks for your great content. I noticed you have the style 68 OEM rims on. This weekend I tried to fit those rims on my E34 but the tires rub on the strut suspension. I imagine you installed some spacers.

    I always break the middle nut lose before dropping the strut, but not super lose just to where I can easily take it off when I get it off, and any auto parts store will let you rent a spring compressor for $65, super simple job that is if any bolts or hex heads are not rusted out lol then it's HEEEELLLLLLLL lol
