- This learning video shows the step-by-step process of how to make eco-fuel briquettes. The goal of this video is to empower millions of people living in poverty by encouraging them to instantly replicate this local income solution.
This video was filmed and produced by Sawa World under the Ujana Coffee Project which was implemented with the support of the Lavazza Foundation.
The Ujana Coffee Project offers a solution to diversify and increase the income of youth from smallholder coffee farming communities through a unique approach of providing access to locally-created and easy-to-start income skills that allow the youth to rapidly start small-scale businesses with little startup costs.
This provides additional revenue from their farming activities and motivates them to stay in the agricultural sector for the long-term.

Thank you for sharing. My question is, doesn't the cassava flour produce smoke when using the briquettes?
Great question Anita! When used in making eco briquettes, cassava flour acts as a binder to hold the materials together and doesn't actually contribute to smoke production when the briquettes are burned. The key to reducing smoke and improving the efficiency of your briquettes lies in ensuring that the organic materials (like sawdust or charcoal fines) are well-carbonized before mixing them with the cassava flour. Proper carbonization removes most of the elements that cause smoke, resulting in cleaner-burning briquettes.
